How to wash an anti-stress pillow and toys

How to wash anti-stress pillowsAnti-stress toys are a wonderful way to relax. You'll want to touch and knead these toys or pillows; it's not for nothing that they're also called "mushroom toys." Like all things, they get dirty, collect dust, and therefore harbor germs, so they absolutely need to be washed. Anti-stress toys are washable, but only if washed properly, as we'll discuss below.

Preparing for washing

Most anti-stress pillows are filled with polystyrene beads. These beads absorb virtually no water, making them easy to wash. With rare exceptions, pillows are filled with buckwheat husks or flax seeds. This filling should be removed from the cover before washing.

Please note: Pillows with buckwheat and linen fillings usually have a lock so you can remove the filling when washing.

After all, during the washing process, the filler will get into the drum of the machine through the holes and then clog it drain filterThis may result in the machine requiring repair.

To avoid this, place the anti-stress pillow or toy in a special laundry bag or pillowcase and tie it tightly. Also, before washing anti-stress pillows and toys, remove stains from the cover. To do this, rub soap or detergent onto the stain, let the item sit for 20-30 minutes, and then rinse. Afterwards, wash the entire pillow in the washing machine or by hand.

Choosing the right mode

Stress-relief pillows and toys filled with polystyrene can be machine washed. Pillows with other fillings, or more specifically, the covers of such pillows, are also machine washable. What do you need to do?

  1. After placing the toys in a bag or pillowcase, place them in the drum.

Important! Don't overfill the drum. If you have a lot of toys, separate them into several parts. They should rotate freely in the drum.

  2. Pour a gel-type wool detergent into the powder dispenser. It is best select the modeOnce the product is rinsed out, use slightly less detergent than indicated on the packaging. You can also pour the detergent into a special container and add it directly to the drum. Do not use bleach for washing, as it may damage the product.
  3. Select any of the following cycles: "Delicate Wash," "Hand Wash," or "Blanket and Pillow Wash." Check the water temperature; it shouldn't exceed 40°C.0C. The spin speed should not exceed 600; 400 is optimal. If the machine does not support low speeds, do not use the spin function at all.
  4. Set the extra rinse.
  5. Start the washing process.

Whether you are washing just the covers or the pillow with polystyrene balls, it is recommended to use the washing modes indicated above. If the pillow is heavily soiled, pre-wash it by hand with soap or liquid detergent.

Drying the product

Dry the product only naturally. Machine drying is strictly prohibited, as it may become misshapen. Since the polystyrene beads inside the anti-stress pillows do not absorb water well, they will dry relatively quickly.

Anti-stress pillows should be dried flat and unfolded. The ideal place to dry is on a balcony or outdoors in the shade. Avoid drying anti-stress pillows near a radiator or in direct sunlight. Before drying, shake the pillows to evenly distribute the filling within the cover.

If you dry items vertically, hanging them on a rope, you must fluff them up with your hands from time to time.

If the item was hand-washed, avoid wringing it out too hard. Apply gentle pressure to remove most of the water. Then, wrap the toy in a terry towel to absorb excess water and dry it faster.
