Review of barrier-type washing machines

As a rule, in specialized institutions where sterility and hygiene are paramount, conventional washing machines cannot be used. Laboratories, hospitals, and other similar facilities use barrier washing machines. These are devices with two doors, installed between two rooms. This allows laundry to be loaded in one room and unloaded clean in the other.

VB-100

This barrier vehicle model is designed for use in medical facilities or nuclear, chemical, or other industrial settings. Like most barrier vehicles, it has two hatches for loading and unloading from different areas. Key features include:

• pneumatic control (this means that there is no need to install a special compressor to regulate the machine’s operation; control is carried out using compressed air) and suspension of the drum block;
• frequency converter;
• touch control panel with memory for up to 999 washing programs.

Please note! Of the 999 programs, only 10 are preset automatically. The rest can be created by the user and saved in the machine's memory for future use.

• The presence of detergent dispensers. This allows the machine to automatically determine the exact amount of detergent to use, down to the gram. Dosing eliminates human error and is consistently accurate.

The machine body is lined with stainless steel, and loading and unloading is controlled manually. The drainage system is closed, meaning the outlet is located on the side and the liquid drains into the drainage system, minimizing the risk of flooding the room.

UNIMAC UB500

Like other barrier washing machines, loading and unloading of this model is done manually from separate zones located on opposite sides of the machine. The drum capacity is 50 kg, allowing for handling larger loads.

The device is controlled by a microprocessor. Similar controls are also available for conventional washing machines: a built-in modular unit controls the entire system. The technical specifications of this barrier washing machine are impressive.

The main highlight of this model is its continuously variable drum speed control. What does this mean? This system allows for energy savings of up to 30% during washing.

The control system includes five factory-preset washing modes. Additionally, users can create and save up to 40 new programs. In addition, the machine is equipped with 5 additional detergent dispensers that automatically regulate the amount of not only liquid substances, but also dry ones. The machine's body is made of stainless steel and is extremely durable. The model described here has a drum capacity of 200 kilograms, but other weight classes are available:

• 15 kg;
• 30 kg;
• 50 kg;
• 70 kg;
• 100 kg;
• 120 kg;
• 200 kg.

The unit's dimensions are 2180 x 1940 x 2690 mm (width, depth, and height, respectively). The motor is quite powerful, producing 22 kW. The indicated application areas include hotels, medical facilities, dry cleaners, laundries, and other technical and industrial facilities. This wide range of applications is primarily due to the large load capacity and energy-saving features.

LB-40

The drum loading weight of this barrier washing machine is light compared to the models described above, at just 40 kilograms. The design itself is standard: two chambers with loading and unloading from opposite rooms. This machine is ideal for small industrial facilities, mini-hotels, or laundries.

The unit's dimensions are also significantly smaller than other barrier-type washing machines—1090 x 1600 x 1800 mm (depth, width, and height, respectively). Spin speed isn't specified in the technical specifications, but it does mention a residual moisture index of 50, indicating decent performance. Specific resource consumption:

• 0.31 kW per hour per kg of laundry is the specific energy consumption per cycle.
• 16.6 cubic decimeters of water per kg of laundry – water consumption per wash cycle.
• This model has electric heating, so no steam is consumed during washing.

Detergent dispensers are not factory-installed, but they can be purchased and installed separately. Up to six dispensers can be connected.
