Choosing a washing machine from two specific brands, such as Bosch or LG, is much easier than choosing from all the available options. However, even in this case, many questions and doubts can arise about which machine is more reliable. Let's compare Bosch and LG washing machines to find out which is better.
Manufacturer and type of washing machine
First of all, you need to compare the washing machines' technical specifications, their components, and their build quality before making a choice. Let's start with the manufacturer. Most Bosch washing machines available on the Russian market are manufactured in Russia, but there are also models assembled in Germany and Slovakia. Most LG washing machines are also assembled in Russia, but there are also models from China. German-made machines are undoubtedly considered the most reliable, as confirmed by service center technicians. However, Russian-assembled machines often end up in repairs, regardless of brand.
If we talk about reliability, then the weak point of Bosch washing machines is the control module, but for LG it is the drain pump. It's impossible to predict which car will break down sooner. But repairs to the second one will be much cheaper and easier.
Next, we compared the washing machine loading types. It turned out that Bosch washing machines come in both front-loading and top-loading options. LG, however, doesn't offer top-loading models. This is another small advantage for the German brand, as top-loading machines are narrower and easier to fit in a small bathroom. Furthermore, top-loading models are preferred by those with back problems who can't bend over.

The next thing we noticed is the type of machine depending on the installation. If you only need a built-in washing machine, you'll have to consider Bosch models, as LG doesn't offer built-in models.
Programs and additional options
Now let's compare the functionality and capacity of the units.
- LG washing machines can have a load capacity from 4 to 17 kg of laundry, which is quite impressive;
- Bosch machines are produced with a capacity of 5 to 9 kg of laundry.
As you can see, the difference is noticeable, so if you need a very large unit, you will have to choose the LG machine. By and large, a unit with a load capacity of 7-9 kg is sufficient for a large family, and both manufacturers have plenty of these.
When it comes to program selection, it's very difficult to compare. Generally speaking, both models have a basic set of modes. This selection should be based on your needs, as some programs may be completely unnecessary and useless. Machines in the same price range will have the same number of programs, but differ in purpose and duration. Drying functionality is also available on both models. However, we note that the manufacturer has a larger selection of washer-dryers LG.
Let's say a few words about the technologies being implemented. LG manufacturers have implemented steam technology in their latest washing machine models. Features like "Refresh" and "Steam Wash" have received positive reviews from users.
Bosch, however, has developed 3D AquaSpar technology, which injects additional water through the drum cuff. This accelerates the wetting process. Furthermore, Bosch washing machines are capable of dosing detergent.
Which machine washes better?
Washing quality is an important criterion when choosing a washing machine. To find out which machine washes better, we turned to the results of a test conducted by the Roskontrol Consumer Rights Protection Society. They tested washing machines from six brands, including budget-friendly Russian-made machines from Bosch and LG.
The experiment involved loading the drum of each washing machine with cotton fabric at 80% of its maximum capacity. Six different types of stains, including berry, meat, and grass stains, were applied to the fabric using a special method. Washing was performed on the "Cotton" cycle at 60 degrees Celsius. The result was as follows: the Bosch washing machine finished the wash almost an hour before the LG machine, resulting in unsatisfactory results, as it failed to remove the cherry stains. The fabric sample washed in the LG machine was perfectly clean.
Please note! Saving on water, detergent, and electricity can lead to poor washing results, making rewashing inevitable. Therefore, efficiency in washing machines should be considered.
During the test, experts also assessed the spin quality. Although the maximum spin speeds of the washers varied, this did not affect the results. The best spin quality was achieved with Samsung washing machine, but that's not the topic now. The Bosch machine performed the worst in the spin cycle, with a residual moisture percentage of 56%, compared to 44% in the LG machine. So, the result is clear: the LG washing machine won out over the Bosch in this experiment. Moreover, it was also the quietest.
Let's compare appearance and price
As for the appearance of washing machines, it's impossible to say which is better; it's a matter of personal preference. It's worth noting that Bosch washing machines are currently available in white, silver, and black. LG machines are only available in white and silver, although red models were also available recently.
Finally, let's compare washing machines by price. Until recently, it was safe to say that Bosch washing machines were significantly more expensive than LG machines. When production of both types of cars was opened in Russia, the price of most models dropped, and if there was a difference, it was only insignificant.The price of cars imported from abroad has not fallen, but rather has risen with the rise of the dollar, so they are worth discussing separately.

Please note! Most Bosch washing machines offer complete leak protection, meaning they have the Aquastop system. However, even the most expensive LG machines only offer partial protection, which is a drawback for this brand.
Let's sum it up
So, it is quite difficult to say which car is better out of the two brands we considered. When comparing Russian-assembled washing machines in the low-price category, LG machines offer a wider selection. However, most indicators and specifications suggest that the Bosch washing machine is still superior. Regarding washing quality, we wouldn't rely 100% on the experiment described above. The fact is, a German-made model may perform quite differently in this test than a Russian-made one.
In our opinion, among the inexpensive washing machines under $250, you can choose an LG machine, especially since there are plenty to choose from. However, if money is no object, it's better to choose a German-made machine over a Chinese one. However, the choice is yours. Happy shopping!

LG also has built-in models. People remove the top cover and install them. I saw a website that says: The height for LG built-in models is 82 cm. This height is also without the top cover.

I spent a long time carefully choosing a washing machine. I narrowed it down to two options: the Bosch wln24261oe and the LG F12U2HDN0. As the article recommended, I went with the German brand. Frankly, if you compare the operation, the German manufacturer's is simpler and more reliable. My relatives have LG. They refused to have it repaired because it was too expensive. But I replaced the belt on the Bosch myself. And it's ready to serve for at least five years again, just like the previous one. But the direct drive is a different story.
