Quick wash on an Electrolux washing machine
The accelerated cycle is a popular feature on modern washing machines, found in virtually every brand. The program's name varies, but the effect remains the same: washing takes significantly less time, often up to 20-40 minutes. Electrolux washing machines also offer this option.
Let's explore how to activate the quick wash mode in an Electrolux washing machine and how long it takes. We'll also explore potential issues with activating this feature and how to use it.
Unable to activate the option
First, let's figure out how to turn on the quick wash option. A common complaint is that selecting a program using the selector, pressing the acceleration button, and starting the cycle with “Start” does not result in any actions being taken by the machine. Nothing happens – the washing machine “freezes” in anticipation.
The Electrolux's delayed behavior is easy to explain. The quick option isn't compatible with all modes. For example, you can't speed up programs:
- "Wool";
- "Hand wash";
- "Blankets";
- "Sport";
- "5 shirts".
The list of programs that allow for cycle shortening is provided in the manufacturer's instructions. The symbols and buttons are also explained there. As a rule, Electrolux only doesn't speed up the five programs listed above. The others—Cotton, Cotton Eco, Curtains, Delicates, Synthetics, and Denim—are handled without issue.
Once compatibility is sorted, you can proceed with activation. Here's the procedure:
- load the machine and close the hatch;
- select a mode compatible with acceleration;
- press the quick wash button (the dial icon with two check marks on the right);
- wait until the corresponding indicator lights up;
- hold down "Start".
When activating the "Quick Wash" option on Electrolux, there is no need to pause the program!
It's not recommended to wash heavily soiled items on the "instant" cycle. The reason is simple: the faster the cycle, the less time it takes to remove stains. It's better to use the boost cycle when you need to refresh your clothes.
You should also reduce the weight of your load. A full load will prevent the machine from washing and rinsing all the laundry, and the result may not be as clean. It's best to take your time and wash no more than 3 kg of cotton and 1.5 kg of synthetics, wool, and silk at a time.
How does the quick program work?
In addition to the "Quick Wash" option, Electrolux machines also offer a separate program of the same name. This is a full-fledged mode, distinguished by its exceptionally short wash time.
The accelerated program, like other modes, consists of three stages: washing, rinsing, and spinning. The difference is that the total cycle time is no more than half an hour—during this time, the machine cleans, rinses, and spins. Some Electrolux models also offer a super-fast option, where clean laundry is delivered in just 15 minutes.
On Electrolux, the quick wash symbols are standard – an image of a dial or a timer.
Speed doesn't affect efficiency. The only difference is that the water will only heat up to a maximum of 40 degrees Celsius, usually no more than 30. Experience shows that in 15-30 minutes, the machine can wash an item just as well as a 1.5-2 hour "Cotton" cycle. The time and money savings are obvious.
Quick cycles, both the mode and the option, are more suitable for surface cleaning. Naturally, the machine won't remove stubborn stains in 15 minutes—even the hour-long "Cotton" cycle won't handle them. However, laundry without ingrained stains is washed well, especially if you need to freshen up, remove sweat odor, or simply rinse. Quick wash is typically used when loading everyday, semi-clean items into the drum, such as shirts, t-shirts, socks, blouses, jumpers, and other loose-fitting items.
Experienced housewives manage to adapt the quick wash cycle to remove stubborn stains. Here are the instructions:
- soak the laundry for 15-20 minutes in a soap solution;
- treat stains with laundry soap or optical stain remover;
- wring out the items slightly;
- load the batch into the drum;
- add detergent;
- start an accelerated cycle.
Soaking softens stains and quickly removes them from fabrics within 15-30 minutes. This significantly reduces the time spent washing: using the "Cotton" or "Synthetics" cycle would take at least 1.5 hours. It also reduces electricity and water consumption, which is quite significant given the cost of utilities.
In what cases is it applied?
The quick wash cycle isn't a panacea. While it's understandable to rush through all your laundry, it's absolutely not recommended. It's worth keeping in mind that this program involves intensive drum rotation and low water temperature, which may not be suitable for all items. Before activating this option, there are a few things to consider:
- Sorting laundry by color and fabric type is essential;
- heavily soiled laundry is washed after pre-soaking;
- not used for washing old clothes and delicate fabrics;
- There is no point in washing bed linen and towels in cold water – at least 60 degrees is needed to remove germs;
- helium powders are selected.
Delicate fabrics cannot be washed on an accelerated cycle!
Quick washing is convenient and economical, especially if you just need to freshen up your clothes or finish off a hand-cleaning session.
