Delicate wash cycle in a Bosch washing machine
Many users who recently purchased a Bosch washing machine are surprised to find no delicate cycle on the control panel. After all, the gentle cycle is no longer considered special, but rather basic, and it seems the washing machine's design is simply unthinkable without it. So what's going on? It's hard to believe that the delicate cycle has simply been forgotten in a Bosch washing machine; German meticulousness wouldn't allow such a thing. Let's find out how to find the delicate cycle on a Bosch washing machine's control panel.
Bosch washing machine's delicate algorithm
As you've probably guessed, every Bosch washing machine features a gentle cycle. Many models even offer two gentle cycles, though their names aren't quite as familiar. Look carefully in the user manual or on the washing machine's control panel, and you'll likely see some or all of the following cycle names.
- "Sensitive." On newer models, it's indicated by a square with a plus sign inside. On older models, the mode is indicated by a feather.
- "Delicates." On Bosch washing machine panels, the program is indicated by a picture of a delicate, silk-like dress or nightgown.
- "Silk." On most models, it is depicted as a butterfly.

All three algorithms aren't just analogs of a delicate wash; they're essentially a delicate cycle, just called something else. What kinds of laundry are these algorithms suitable for? Typically, these are thin underwear, clothes made of silk or wool, as well as delicate synthetic fabrics. Other items, such as tulle, also wash well on this program. Linens are washed in plenty of water at a low temperature. The user can set the spin cycle manually, but not higher than 800 rpm, or turn it off completely.
Important! The drum load for delicate washing should not exceed 1/3 of the total load capacity.
To ensure maximum washing results, use the right detergents, opting for gels instead of powdered detergents. However, the "Sensitive Wash" feature on Bosch washing machines can sometimes come as a surprise. On some models, it heats up to 60 degrees Celsius and spins at 1200 rpm.
Characteristics of other Bosch SM algorithms
Let's now look at other modes found in Bosch washing machines. We'll provide names, image descriptions, and brief explanations of the products for which each program is intended.
- Cotton. This basic cycle is indicated by a white sweater pattern. The maximum load capacity is 7 kg. Additionally, you can activate the "SpeedPerfect" function, which shortens the cycle (suitable for lightly soiled items), reducing the load to 4 kg. Spin speed is adjustable from "No Spin" to 1200 rpm. Water temperature can be set anywhere from "Cold Wash" to 90 degrees Celsius.
- Cotton Eco. Designated by the lowercase letter e. This program offers similar results to the Cotton program, but is more economical due to the lower temperature. Spin range: 400-1200 rpm.
- Synthetics. Identified by a white sweater on a hanger. Suitable for washing synthetic or mixed fibers. Maximum load: 3 kg. Temperature: up to 60 degrees Celsius. Spin: 400-1200 rpm.
- Mixed/Quick Wash. This cycle is indicated either by arrows pointing to the right or by a white sweater and pants. It's the same as the Synthetic Wash cycle, but the load capacity is 4 kg instead of 3.
- Wool. This is a particularly gentle wash to prevent shrinkage. It's marked with a ball of wool. The maximum load is 2 kg, and the temperature doesn't exceed 40 degrees Celsius. Spin can be disabled, and the maximum spin speed is 800 rpm.

- Rinse. Indicated by a container of water. An additional rinse with a fully adjustable spin speed.
- Spin/Drain. Indicated by a spiral/container with a downward arrow. This is an additional spin cycle with adjustable speed. If you need to drain, set the spin speed to 0.
- Down Jackets. Identified by a picture of a down jacket. Suitable for washing items with down and synthetic fillings, including duvets and pillows. Maximum load: 1 kg, temperature up to 60 degrees Celsius, spin speed from 400 to 1200 rpm.
- Shirts/blouses. Designated as office shirt. Suitable for washing non-creasing shirts made of natural, synthetic, and blended fabrics. Maximum load: 2 kg. Water temperature up to 60 degrees Celsius, spin speed from 400 to 800 rpm.
- Jeans/dark underwear. Designated as a dark turtleneck on a hanger. Maximum load: 2 kg. Temperature: up to 40 degrees Celsius. Spin: 400-1200 rpm.
- Super 15/30. A very short program for washing small amounts of lightly soiled laundry. The default cycle lasts 30 minutes, but with the SpeedPerfect feature, it's reduced to 15 minutes. Maximum load: 4 kg/2 kg, temperature up to 40°C, spin speed 400-1200 rpm.
- Sports shoes. These are marked with a picture of a sports shoe. Gentle wash with plenty of water per pair. Temperature up to 40°C. Spin up to 800 rpm. The tumble dryer can be stored.
Bosch washing machines offer a wide range of functions, allowing you to choose the right program for any occasion. The key is to choose carefully to avoid damaging the product.
