Zanussi washing machine diagnostics

Zanussi washing machine diagnosticsIf your Zanussi washing machine stops unexpectedly during a cycle and the self-diagnostic system fails to activate, you need to troubleshoot the machine. Activate a special test mode and determine the cause of the stoppage. You can perform a Zanussi washing machine diagnostic yourself, without calling a specialist; the main thing is to follow the correct procedure.

Making troubleshooting easier

Usually, the washing machine automatically initiates a module check, after which a fault code appears on the display. However, there are situations when the system freezes and does not run diagnostics of the machine's key components. Fortunately, this can be done manually.

How do you know if your washing machine has failed its diagnostics? It's simple: the machine stops during the wash, spin, or rinse cycle and doesn't respond to any commands. There's no error code displayed on the display. To find out the cause of the malfunction, you should use the "Service Test" function and force the test.

Let's run the test

This procedure won't harm the machine. First, the function is configured at the factory using special technologies. Second, such an inspection is significantly more informative and safer than completely disassembling the washing machine for a thorough inspection. Furthermore, testing helps narrow down the range of potential problems. Activating the program yourself is quite simple:running a service test

  • the gear selector is set to the 1st position and “Start” is quickly pressed almost simultaneously;
  • switch the machine to the second position;
  • turn off the equipment;
  • put the selector back to first position;
  • turn on the washing machine;
  • set the programmer to the third mode and turn off the power again;
  • turn the handle to position “1” and press “Start”;
  • select the "Drain" mode and start testing.

Now you need to wait: the machine will briefly check the unit's main modules and then display a fault code. You can find the code in the technical documentation or online. After pinpointing the location of the fault, you can decide whether to call a technician or try to fix the problem yourself.

Important! Before testing, be sure to remove all laundry from the drum.

If there's no display, the machine will indicate a malfunction by flashing LED lights. In Zanussi machines with the EWM 1000, the error code is determined by the flashing of two indicators: the start indicator and the cycle end indicator. The number of flashes of the first and second lights will indicate the first and second digits of the code, respectively. Prefix the resulting number with the letter "E" to obtain the error code. For the decoding, please refer to the online or machine documentation.

How does the machine troubleshoot? After starting the test mode, the unit starts a quick wash cycle with the drum empty. During the cycle, the diagnostic system examines each component and its performance. The inlet valve, the integrity of the tub, and the pressure switch are checked one by one.

The heater's performance and motor speed are then assessed. At maximum speed, the machine tests the drain and spin cycles. If a malfunction is detected, the control module logs the error and notifies the user.
