Dishwasher hose diameter

Dishwasher hose diameterThe drain hose is the simplest component of a dishwasher, yet even it raises many questions, especially when purchasing a replacement at the store. While the length is usually straightforward, the diameter of the dishwasher drain hose presents certain challenges. Let's explore the main characteristics of this component to clear up any remaining questions.

Characteristics of PMM drainage hoses

There are many types of hoses for "home helpers," but they generally fall into three categories: standard, telescopic, and drainage. Let's look at each one separately.

  • Standard hose is most often sold in predetermined lengths ranging from 1 to 5 meters. However, it can sometimes be found in coils, sold by the meter, allowing customers to choose the length they need.
  • A telescopic hose is a corrugated tube. When extended, it reaches 2 meters, but when compressed, it only reaches 0.6 meters. Its main disadvantages are that it clogs more quickly, vibrates more during flushing, and is easily torn if stretched too quickly.New drain hose for Indesit
  • The drain hose is made of polypropylene, which is lighter and less toxic than plastic hoses, yet more rigid and better able to withstand high temperatures. Special elastic rubber fittings are installed at the end of this drain hose. When determining the diameter of the drain hose, you need to know the internal diameter of the fittings. It can be 19 millimeters at both ends, 22 millimeters at both ends, or 19 millimeters at one end and 22 millimeters at the other.

Today, dishwashers are more often equipped with hoses with a diameter of 22 millimeters. Before purchasing a new dishwasher drain hose, be sure to check the specifications of the existing hose you need to replace to avoid making a mistake when purchasing.

What hoses are available for sale?

With many well-known global brands currently available on the Russian market, choosing the best model can be challenging. We'll share some of our favorites to help you choose.

  • TSG hoses are made in Italy and come in a sleek gray color. All are pressure-resistant to 5 bar and come in a single diameter—19 x 22 mm. Lengths range from 1 to 5 meters.
  • TurboFlex is a domestically produced product designed for 2 bar pressure. Hoses are available in lengths from 1 to 5 meters. Company representatives recommend their products for Candy, Beko, and Indesit appliances.
  • Helfer is another Russian brand on our list. Their hoses are designed for 10 bar pressure, can operate in temperatures up to 60 degrees Celsius, and have a diameter of 19 millimeters.

In the current market conditions, we recommend paying attention to products from domestic factories, as they offer a good balance between price and quality.

Making the standard dishwasher hose longer

If the standard hose length is not enough to connect the dishwasher to the drain, then you have to come up with something else. Manufacturers of appliances recommend moving the "home helper" to a different location or replacing the hose, but not extending the current drain hose. Indeed, finding a new location for the appliance or purchasing a new hose is much safer and easier, as there's no additional risk of leaks. However, this isn't always possible. If extending the standard hose is unavoidable, consider the following recommendations:we connect the ends of the hose

  • The drain hose must not be stretched, so remember to leave a small margin after increasing the hose;
  • The maximum safe length is 3.5 meters. If the hose exceeds this length, the load on the pump will be greater, and if the pump is weak, it may even fail after a while;
  • Purchase an adapter in advance - a plastic tube that fits into the ends of the standard and extension hoses, and then secure it with clamps measuring 16 by 27 millimeters.

It is better to choose metal clamps rather than plastic ones, as the former are more durable.

Extending the drain hose itself takes no more than five minutes, even for those without the necessary experience and knowledge. However, be extremely careful during the process to ensure the extended hose is as secure as possible, as it has a higher risk of leaks.
