What is express wash in a washing machine?

express washNot everyone can navigate the vast number of washing machine modes. Unusual names can make you pause before choosing a program, especially if you don't have the instructions at hand. For example, what does the "express wash" mode mean, and what kind of laundry can be washed with it? It's worth understanding.

Program Description

The express wash program in a washing machine is one of the most common after cotton, favored by both housewives and single men. The prefix "express" means instantaneous. In the case of washing, "instant" isn't exactly a word, but "fast" is certainly apt, as the express program lasts 15-30 minutes. Washing time is reduced by reducing the number of rinses and heating the water. The temperature setting is 30 or 40 degrees, depending on your choice. In modern machines, time is reduced thanks to the automatic weighing system and the determination of the level of contamination of the laundry.

The default spin setting is maximum or close to maximum. This varies across washing machine models, and can range from 800, 1000, or 1200 rpm. This wash mode is available in some washing machine models:

  • Bosch and Siemens;quick wash in an automatic machine
  • Atlas;
  • Electrolux;
  • Samsung;
  • Kuppersbusch;

Please note! The maximum load for express washing in different machines ranges from 1.5 to 2.5 kg of dry laundry. Do not add more than this, otherwise the laundry will not wash properly.

In what cases is this mode suitable?

The quick wash cycle in a washing machine is suitable for those cases when clothes only need to be refreshed, but there are no stains on them. This mode is best for washing items made of cotton or thick, non-delicate fabrics. You can refresh it in the washing machine:

  • socks after one wear,

    Important! Don't wash just one pair of socks; it's better to wash several, adding an old towel. Otherwise, washing a small load will lead to an imbalance.

  • T-shirts without stains or dirt;
  • cotton napkins, etc.

If you don't have time for a long wash, this cycle is also suitable. Just be sure to hand-wash the items first, then place them in the washing machine drum and run the express wash cycle.

Similar programs

Manufacturers may refer to similar washing machine modes differently. Some even separate express wash into a separate mode, offering a quick wash along with express wash. The difference is that the express program will last about 15 minutes, and the fast program will last about 30 minutes.

Other manufacturers don't make this distinction and instead list express wash as a quick wash lasting no more than half an hour. Furthermore, there are a number of similar programs with similar descriptions:

  • Fast (Candy);express wash program
  • Express 15 (Haer, Hansa);
  • Superfast 15/30 (Bosch);
  • Fast 30 (LG);
  • Quick wash 17 (Gorenje);
  • Mini (Beko);
  • Supersnabb 15 (Bosch);
  • 20 Min – 3 kg (AEG);
  • Quick Wash (Whirlpool).

Please note! Some washing machine models, such as Ariston and Zanussi, do not have cycle markings, only symbols. The quick wash cycle is usually indicated by a clock with a time of 30, 20, or 15 minutes.

Thus, the express wash program in a washing machine has about a dozen names. All of them imply a wash lasting no more than half an hour, at a temperature no higher than 40 degrees Celsius. However, each machine does this differently. Some machines have a rapid water injection, Others have an Eco bubble function. In others, water enters the machine without pressure. This significantly impacts the quality of the wash, so some people may prefer a quick wash, while others simply don't use it.

    I have an INDEZIT IWSB5093 washing machine, and I can't use the express cycle. Instead of 25 minutes, it takes 2 hours! What's wrong?
