Washing machine with steam function - reviews
Many people read reviews about the steam function in washing machines. But the problem is how to tell which reviews are reliable and which are faked by unscrupulous information and sales websites. To answer this question, we decided to collect real people's reviews of washing machines with a steam function and give you the opportunity to evaluate real opinions on individual models. Here's what we found.
LG F1480TDS5
Olesya, Angarsk
I bought an LG F1480TDS5 washing machine with a steam function eight months ago, and I still don't understand why I paid extra for it. Before that, I had an older LG that lasted 10 years, and it's still sitting at the dacha, washing just as well as a new one. I should have taken my husband's advice and replaced it with a simpler, no-frills LG, but no, I should have listened to the salesperson.
You can even steam unwashed clothes, although I personally don’t really understand why I would need to do this.
Don't think I'm complaining. The LG F1480TDS5 washing machine is very good, sturdy, and washes and spins beautifully. It has a double rinse, which my old LG didn't have. The washing programs are clear and easy to use, and the appearance is decent. And in general, I'm a fan of LG automatic washing machines. That's not the crux of my complaint. I am unhappy that the manufacturer is deceiving consumers by cramming unnecessary features into their equipment and double-charging the price. If only I had known earlier what the essence of this steam function was, I wouldn’t have overpaid almost $170 for the machine.

I'm, without exaggeration, the happy owner of an LG F1480TDS5 washing machine. For five years now, my "workhorse" has been reliably washing clothes for a family of four without a single malfunction. All I have to do is occasionally rinse the detergent drawer and clean the dust filter—it's perfect. I can't say anything good or bad about the steam function. I know my wife uses it very rarely, either to refresh laundry without washing it, or to soften clothes that have been over-dried on a line before ironing.
What I'm most pleased with is the large drum, which can handle all our colorful laundry in one go—and we have a lot of it by the end of the week. It washes jackets very well, as well as blankets and throws. I recently washed my camping tent, and everything worked perfectly; it didn't even fall apart, and most importantly, the machine never complained. We're very happy with this machine, especially considering we bought it in 2012 for just $718, when the dollar was worth half that.
LG F14U2TDH1N

Reviews of washing machines with a steam function are usually mixed, with some good and some bad, but it seems everyone is happy with this model, and I'm no exception. I can immediately tell you a ton of reasons why I really like this machine.
- There are many automatic washing programs for all occasions, plus you can set your own program.
- The machine is so roomy that I usually stuff it with all the laundry in the basket (except, of course, whites and those that fade a lot).
It's good that the load capacity is so large that you don't have to worry about overloading the drum with laundry. Everything fits.
- It works quite quietly and does not rattle during spinning at maximum speed.
- The machine can dry clothes. It also has a really cool feature called "dry-ironing," which means the machine first dries your clothes and then blasts them with steam for better ironing. After that, you just give them a quick ironing and they're ready to wear—no more tedious ironing.
- Good and convenient protection from children's hands, and overall the controls are convenient and clear.
The LG F14U2TDH1N washing machine isn't perfect, of course. When I set certain washing modes, dashes appear on the display instead of the program duration. It's not entirely clear why. I also don't like the tinted glass on the hatch cover, because of it I can't monitor the color of the water in case the laundry gets discolored. These are all minor details, but I'd like the manufacturer to listen to me and make the appropriate design improvements. I recommend this model to everyone!

I trusted my wife completely with choosing a washing machine, and she probably found the best option—the LG F14U2TDH1N. It does everything: washes, rinses, spins, dries, and even steams, making ironing easy. It just doesn't iron, so I have to use the iron occasionally. We were worried it would be noisy—it's Chinese, after all—but no, it's no noisier than our old Bosch, maybe even a little quieter. This washing machine gets a solid A from both my wife and me.
Electrolux EWW51685
Elena, Moscow
I spent a long time choosing the car, I even read Electrolux washing machine reviews and other brands. Overall, I managed to choose a decent model, and even the price is reasonable. Judge for yourself: there are quite a few washing programs, a double-glazed door, and a sound-insulated body, making the washing machine quieter. It also has a large 8 kg drum, drying and spinning at 1600 rpm. Again, the design is nice, and the water consumption is low, but there are some things that really threw me off. My old LG washing machine, bought secondhand for next to nothing, had a "Prewash" mode, and this $1,000 "miracle of technology" doesn't have that, even though I've grown so accustomed to it. Frankly, I'm disappointed.
Sergey, St. Petersburg
The Electrolux EWW51685 washing machine fulfilled everything I dreamed of: drying, steaming, and a blanket and throw care mode. I was impressed when I first read its specifications, especially with the drum load and spin speed. I installed the washing machine myself, and then I got a surprise. The actual dimensions differed from the manufacturer's stated dimensions. It's as if they use different centimeters overseas. The depth was especially disappointing, measuring 56 cm including the handle.
Be careful! Check the actual dimensions of the washing machine with a tape measure right in the store; don't rely on the numbers listed on the data sheet.
Daewoo DWD-LD1432
Kristina, Saratov
As soon as I saw the Daewoo DWD-LD1432, I immediately fell in love with it. I guess I intuitively understood that this is a truly good washing machine. The quality of washing is simply superb, I don’t know what technologies are used there, but the result is obvious – It washes better than my mom's Samsung and my sister's LG. It holds a lot of laundry—10.5 kg, according to the specs—but I've never loaded that much. I like the steam function. Overall, it's a great washing machine; I recommend it to everyone.
Victoria, Novosibirsk
Our family's experience with the Daewoo DWD-LD1432 was extremely negative. When we bought it, everything was perfect, it worked like a charm, and did a fantastic job of washing. It's a shame it only lasted a week. Then something terrible happened: it stopped working. The service technician told us the control module had failed, so it would be a long and arduous repair, as the parts were not in stock, and there don't seem to be any plans for it.
I won't go into detail about the lengths we spent arguing with the seller to get the return, but with the help of a lawyer, we finally got our way and got our money back. When buying a washing machine, pay close attention to the paperwork, especially the warranty card.
To summarize, washing machines with a steam function often also have a drying function, making them quite expensive. To avoid buying a subpar model, it's best to read reviews; it's harder to fool people in the crowd; they know what they're talking about.
