Where is the drain filter located in an Indesit washing machine?

Where is the drain filter located in an Indesit washing machine?Almost every problem with a washing machine can be solved with the waste filter. Water is quickly drained through it, the pump is removed, and the drainage system is repaired. Furthermore, all appliance manufacturers, including Indesit, recommend regularly cleaning the waste filter; otherwise, the drain will become clogged and the machine will stop working. To get the job done right, you need to know where the drain filter is located in your Indesit washing machine. This article will help you with that.

For front-loading models

Before looking for a filter, it's worth getting to know it better. It's a plastic spiral-shaped component used to filter wastewater. It is the "trash can" that protects the pipes and pump from debris that gets into the washing machine, preventing major blockages and breakdowns. That is why it is called a drain, drainage or garbage bin.

Be careful! Indesit machines are known for their tight latches, so be careful not to damage the plastic parts.

If your washing machine is front-loading, finding the drain pump filter is easy. Look at the end of the machine, specifically the lower right corner. Locate the rectangular panel, pry it up with a flat-head screwdriver, knife, or scissors, release the latches, and remove the cover. Then, locate the round black cover. This is the "dustbin" you're looking for.Front-facing cameras have a filter behind the narrow front panel

For top-loading equipment

Top-loading models have the drum located on top. This often results in a larger capacity and a smaller footprint, but that's not the point. The important thing is that the waste filter is positioned almost identically to front-loading machines. The drainage coil is easy to find.

  1. We find the technical hatch door at the bottom of the body (on most machines it is round and located on the left).
  2. Carefully pry the hatch open with a flat-head screwdriver.
  3. We unhook all the latches and remove the panel.

Don't forget to be careful, as it's very easy to break the tight Indesit latches, and without them the hatch door won't stay in place. Once the panel is safely removed, locate the black "washer" on the right side of the hole. This is the drain filter cover.

We unscrew and clean

Don't rush – prepare yourself before unscrewing the filter. The plastic cover covers the drain hole, and once removed, wastewater will flow out. To avoid flooding and damaging your flooring and furniture, it's best to be on the safe side. Always remove the built-in washing machine from its cabinet or closet, remembering to disconnect it from the utilities. Next, line the area with old rags and place a large container under the waste bin lid.

Do not unscrew the filter immediately after the end of the cycle, otherwise you may get scalded by boiling water.

Now we can begin. Removing the filter is easy: just grab the ledge on the cover with your fingers, turn the part counterclockwise, and pull it towards you. If the coil doesn't budge, it could be due to scale, hair, or a stuck object. In this case, the solution is WD-40 or tapping the plastic with a hammer. The removed filter needs to be cleaned. Here's how.

  1. We remove any tangled hair or stuck dirt by hand.
  2. We rinse the nozzle under the tap.rinse the filter under running water
  3. If necessary, clean with an old toothbrush or toothpick.
  4. If the stains persist, soak the coil in a cleaning solution of water and citric acid for 1-3 hours. This will also remove limescale and unpleasant odors.

The filter should be soaked in cold water: at low temperatures, citric acid works better, and the plastic does not deform as it would when using boiling water.

It's best to take care of the filter coil right away. Shine a flashlight through it, and if you find any debris, clean the entire surface. Once everything is clean, dry the coil and replace it, screwing it in clockwise. Removing the drain filter is easy. The main thing is to take your time and follow the instructions above.

Ahh, so that's how it is :) I thought my old Indesit didn't even have a filter. I thought it was weird, but it turns out it's behind the dashboard :)
