Where is the filter in an LG washing machine?
LG washing machines are generally easy to use, and you can use them for long periods of time without any problems or issues. This is due to their high reliability: you can load and unload the machine repeatedly, use detergents, capsules, and fabric softeners, and avoid any technical issues.
Like any appliance, a washing machine requires maintenance. Every couple of months, it's a good idea to clean the detergent drawer and check the condition of the dust filter, cuff, and volute. Most owners know where the cuff and detergent drawer are located, but unfortunately, not everyone knows where the drain pump filter is in an LG washing machine.
Filter location
A social survey conducted by employees revealed that approximately one in twenty washing machine users is unaware of the location of the filter. Naturally, none of them even considered cleaning it, which leads to breakdowns. If you don't know where the dust filter is, look for it in the lower right corner of the machine. LG, it closes with a hinged lid.
To begin cleaning, open the lid. It's easy—just pry it open with your fingernail and pull—it'll pop open instantly. Beneath it, you'll see a large, round filter element, or rather its visible portion, as well as a black hose for the emergency drain. On top of it, there's a plug that must be removed if the unit breaks down to drain the water from the tank. This will take a while, and the drain is slow, but there's no other option, so it's better than nothing.
The dust filter is easy to remove. Simply unscrew it from the machine. It has a convenient handle that allows you to easily remove it for cleaning. The dust filter consists of two parts:
- handle seal;
- garbage collector.
Remember, it's not just the filter element that needs cleaning, but also the sink it's screwed into. This is essential, as various items like socks, scarves, thongs, and more often end up there. The snail is connected to a pump designed to drain liquid from the washing machine's tub, but it shouldn't be touched unless there's a problem with it.
Fill valve filter element
Experts say the debris filter should be cleaned at least every two months. Additionally, the filter element of the inlet valve should be cleaned every six months. It's important not only to clean it, but also to check for damage beforehand.
This problem is most pressing for those owners whose water enters the car directly from the water supply, without being filtered in any way.
If you have an anti-limescale filter installed before the tee, which needs to be changed regularly, you can ignore this rule. The question is, where can you find it?
- Shut off the water supply by closing thetee at the end of the inlet hose.
- The other end of the hose, which is attached to the back wall of the top of the machine, must be unscrewed.
- Look inside, you will find a mesh, it needs to be taken out and washed.
The easiest option is to use round-nose pliers to grasp the filter by its mesh and remove it. If it's completely clogged with scale, the washing machine won't function properly, as water simply won't flow into the drum. To clean, soak the filter in a citric acid solution, diluting 20 grams per cup of liquid. Then rinse with hot water.
