The dishwasher tap indicator is on
A properly functioning Bosch dishwasher can, at one unfortunate moment, start acting up or stop working altogether, notifying the user of the malfunction in only one way - by the "Tap" indicator lighting up or flashing.
This problem is rather sparsely described in the instructions for Bosch dishwashers, so we decided to take a closer look at this "symptom" of the malfunction, dedicating this article to it and the breakdowns that cause it.
Reasons for activation of this indicator
If you believe the instructions for the Bosch dishwasher, then The "Tap" indicator lights up or flashes if there is a problem or no water supply to the dishwasher.A rather dry description, considering we need to pinpoint the fault that caused the indicator to activate. What faults actually cause this error?
- The filter in front of the inlet valve is clogged.
- The fill valve does not work.
- The drain hose is not connected correctly, which causes water to drain on its own.
- The Aqua Stop leak protection system has been activated.
If you are having trouble recognizing the indicators and markings on the dishwasherYou can read about this in the article of the same name. It's quite easy to get confused on this issue, which in turn leads to making the wrong decisions, so please familiarize yourself with this information.
In each of the above cases, the "Faucet" indicator may behave differently. If the inlet filter is clogged and water either doesn't enter the machine at all or fills very slowly, this indicator may either remain lit or blink. If the inlet valve fails, the indicator will most often remain lit. When draining automatically, the “Tap” indicator almost always blinks; the same behavior is also observed when the leak protection system is activated. Let's find out what these problems are and how to fix them!
Please note! If a malfunction occurs in a Bosch dishwasher, not only the "Tap" indicator may light up, but an error code may also appear.
Problems with water supply
If the "Tap" indicator lights up, there's a high probability that there's a problem with either the flow-through inlet filter or the inlet valve. If this Bosch dishwasher model has a display, the machine may also display an E01 error. What should I do?
- Close the tee valve so that no more water flows into the machine.
- If there is an additional flow filter on the hose, it should be unscrewed, disassembled and thoroughly cleaned of scale and dirt.
- Next, you need to remove the inlet hose, pull out the standard flow filter (installed at the entrance to the dishwasher), clean and rinse it.
If the above steps don't resolve the issue, you'll need to check the inlet valve. First, remove the lower decorative panel from your Bosch dishwasher. At the very bottom, on the front left side, you'll see the inlet valve with two contacts and wires. Disconnect the wires, use a multimeter, and check the resistance. If the fill valve is faulty, it needs to be replaced. You can read more about malfunctions related to water supply in the article No water comes into the dishwasher.
Self-draining
The "Tap" indicator may "show signs of life" if the drain hose is improperly connected to the drain. It might seem like the drain affects the water flow into the dishwasher. It turns out the connection is direct. When the dishwasher fills with water, and it continually drains into the drain, the control module may detect this as an inability to fill to the required level. After this, the "Tap" indicator begins to flash, and the machine stops working.
In almost all cases, self-draining problems occur in dishwashers that are very new. Why does a dishwasher self-drain? Because it's not properly connected to the sewer system. It is necessary to immediately stop the dishwasher and make a normal connection. You can read about how to do this correctly in the article. How to connect a dishwasher to the water supply and sewerage system?
Please note! An incorrectly connected drain hose can be fixed by yourself in 10 minutes.
"Aqua Stop" has been activated
If your Bosch dishwasher is equipped with a leak protection system, it's highly likely that this is what triggered it. When the "Aqua Stop" system is activated, the dishwasher automatically shuts off the water supply, often displaying a system error code. The error code may not appear, but the “Tap” indicator will definitely start blinking. What to do in this situation is described in the article. Aquastop hose for dishwashers, read it and everything will become clear to you.
In conclusion, a lit or flashing "Tap" light on Bosch dishwashers most often indicates a malfunction. We've tried to briefly discuss the nature of these malfunctions and their causes in this article. We hope you find this information helpful. Good luck!

Thanks for the article. However, when I encountered the same problem, I started searching online and discovered that a popular recommendation is to pour up to 10 liters of water into the washing machine's working chamber.
After checking and cleaning the filters and getting nowhere, I decided to give this advice a try. I filled the machine with water (mine held about 4 liters) and turned it on.
The machine (model Bosch spv-63m50ru) finally worked! And now it runs without a hitch.
Is it possible to get a technical explanation for this shamanism?
Perhaps the water caused some warped float to come loose?
Thanks for the advice - it helped!
We cleaned the filter, but it didn't help. We saw Andrey's advice and decided to take it up. We poured 6 liters of water into the dishwasher, turned on the eco program, and everything worked. The faucet went out. Everything worked as before!
Thank you! It helped me too! 🙂
Should I pour water directly into the machine? I'm having the same problem and I don't know what to do.
It helped! Thank you!
And I turned on the tap, lowered the water pressure at the inlet, and lo and behold, it worked.
The faucet light came on in my BOSCH dishwasher. In my case, it turned out to be a loose salt filler cap! After adding salt, I forgot to close the cap, and water leaked into the tray, causing the faucet to malfunction. I closed the cap, the faucet light went out, and the dishwasher started working again! If you're experiencing the same issue, check that the salt filler cap is tightly closed before considering other possible causes.
The salt reservoir and the E25 error (difficult water drainage) are not related in any way.
Please help with the following problem. On a Bosch 50e90, the program starts, the machine runs, but reaches the rinse and dry phase, after which the valve lights up. The machine turns off and on again, and everything is fine again. The program starts, but stops during the rinse and dry phase.
I have the same thing, Igor, what happened to you?
I managed to partially overcome this problem: the machine washes at 70 degrees Celsius and at 48 minutes, it starts the hot rinse cycle and the faucet lights up. I turn the mode dial to reset. The display shows 0, and the machine stops. Then I switch to the normal rinse cycle and turn the machine off and on. The display shows 18 minutes, and the machine does a cold rinse, but the cycle ends with clean dishes.
This isn't a workaround, it's simply ending the old program and starting a new one. As for the solution... Bosch is a fickle machine. Make sure the hoses are clean, free of blockages and excess hydraulic resistance (sharp bends, narrow drains). Reduce the height of the drain hose bend, etc.
I have the same problem. Did you manage to solve it?
The machine constantly drains water at 70 degrees, even if there is no water. Disconnecting from the network helps, but restarting does not help!
Nothing helped. Could it be a problem with the heating element? We noticed that nothing was heating up inside.
We have exactly the same problem as the last comments. Has anyone managed to solve it?
Same here! Let me know if anyone was able to solve the problem.
Perhaps this article will help you: The dishwasher constantly drains water.
I live alone with two children. My husband is a truck driver. We have a lot of dishes because the youngest is learning to cook. They gave us this miracle. We installed it. We washed the dishes three times and the indicator light came on. I was so nervous. I thought I'd ruined it. I read the article. I pulled it out from the wall. I cleaned the filter and filled it with water. And lo and behold! It worked!
Good afternoon. The drain motor turns on, hums for 2-3 minutes, turns off, silence, then turns back on. The "salt" and "rinse aid" lights are on, and the "faucet" light is flashing. Even if I open the faucet, the humming continues. It used to stop working when I left it open. This happened before when the septic tank was full; I'd pump it out and everything worked, but now it doesn't work. The advice about water didn't help either. The machine doesn't respond to the buttons; it's frozen. And now it won't even turn on at all. Any advice?
Good afternoon! Tatyana, were you able to solve the problem? I'm having the same problem right now.
Water leaking into the tray
Unplug the dishwasher, turn it over, remove the two screws, remove the tray, rinse, make sure there are no leaks in the hose system, and check the module connections. Reassemble in reverse order. Wash the dishes!
Igor, Inga, and Yulia, were you able to resolve the issue? Please let me know what caused it.
I just encountered this problem. It was my own fault; I didn't notice the door had jammed against the ladle and wouldn't close completely. I washed the dishes, but the washer wouldn't turn off. The "faucet" button just kept blinking, not responding to any operation. My husband was cleaning the hoses while I investigated. He cleaned it, turned it on, and it was still blinking. He got angry. It was evening, and I had to go to work tomorrow. I pushed it back in place with all my force, and that was it. The light went out, but the machine was still working!
Adding water (2 liters) and resetting by holding the start button for 3 seconds helped.
Thanks to those commenting. The faucet is blinking. Well, I keep thinking I need to replace the machine. Mine is a built-in one. Today I decided to take it out. I started looking for the tray with the float. I couldn't find it. I went online again. I found an article. And most importantly, a comment from Alexander on how to get to the tray. I tilt the machine and there's a puddle on the floor right away. Obviously, that's where it's coming from. The water is kind of stale. Not fresh. I drained it all. I didn't bother looking for how to remove the tray. I turned it on at 45 degrees. I'll wait an hour and see. Oh, by the way, as soon as I poured out the water, the faucet light stopped blinking.
The Aquastop function has triggered. We need to find where the leak is and fix it. Otherwise, it will continue.
Thank you so much for the advice! Indeed, I filled it with water, turned it on, and it worked!
I turn it on at 70 degrees. It washes the dishes, but after an hour or after drying, the tap turns on and doesn't reset. Water remains in the tray. This has happened several times. After some time, after removing the dishes, I switched it to 50 Eco. It started working, washed, and dried the dishes. I checked the filter and everything is fine and clean.
My almost-new machine's "Fauce" light came on. It didn't drain. My previous machine (not a Bosch) didn't have this light. But sometimes it wouldn't drain either. I usually closed the washer, ran the "Rinse" cycle, and the problem went away. It worked with the Bosch too!
Good evening. Yesterday I bought my first dishwasher. I plugged it in, loaded it, and started it. It runs for a while, then beeps three times and that's it. I open the faucet, and the indicator light comes on. And there's standing water in the drain area that won't drain. Any advice on what to do? Or should I take it back to the store?
If the problem is in the machine itself, then I would definitely try to return it.
It can't drain. To check, place the drain hose in a bucket...
I have the same problem. The new machine doesn't drain and the tap light is on. Did you find out what was causing it?
The "drying" light started flashing when I loaded dirty dishes and pressed "Start." I panicked! I turned everything on and off several times. Same result. I read the comments. It's scary: either the heating element, the temperature sensor, or something else. I liked the simplest fix in the comments: hold the "Start" button for 3 seconds. I held it for 5 seconds just to be sure: that's it! The machine works! Good luck everyone!
Hello! I'm having almost the same problem! The Faucet, Rinse Aid, and Salt indicator lights are on. The machine has both salt and rinse aid! The problem is, the machine won't turn off. And it won't restart for 3 seconds on Start. What should I do?
If your washing machine stops working and the tap indicator lights up, I recommend checking the voltage in your electrical system. I had 184 volts, and the machine stopped working before the end of the cycle. I changed the phase to a higher voltage, and everything worked fine.
My wife soaked some very dirty pots in Fairy-type detergent, and then, without rinsing, just draining the soaked pans, she put them in the dishwasher at 70 degrees Celsius. After 25 minutes, foam and hot water started pouring out of the dishwasher. The faucet (it's a Bosch dishwasher) started flashing. I never thought detergent residue could produce so much foam. It's been drying for 12 hours, and the faucet is still flashing. Obviously, I need to get to the drain pan.
My Bosch dishwasher won't start any of the programs. I press the power button, and the ECO program lights up, but the other programs don't respond. I turn on the ECO program, and the machine runs, but the door isn't locked. What's wrong? Can you help me figure this out?
Thanks for the advice! Add 10 liters of water to the working chamber! And start it up. And it works.
Bosch dishwasher. I had water supply problems. The faucet caught fire, and the water stopped flowing. I cleaned the filters, but it didn't help. I blew out the Aquastop, but it didn't help. I found the advice about 10 liters just in time.
Thank you very much.
Where do you pour the water? I can't figure it out.
My faucet is acting up and won't turn off on its own, it's making a humming noise. I've cleaned the filters, and the water drains. But I can't turn it off with the button.
Thanks, it helped! I cleaned the filter, added 6 liters of water, set it to ECO mode, and everything works!
Guys, please help! After the wash cycle is finished, I open the door and find a nearly whole tablet lying on the shelf of the top basket. It's just rinsing with water. What could be the cause? Thanks in advance!
I pulled out the machine, tilted it forward, just looked at it and it started working!
The faucet started flashing and the machine froze, wouldn't turn off, wouldn't reset. I filled it to the brim with water, it turned off with the button, and then started again. Thanks for the water tip.
The faucet was blinking. The pump wouldn't turn off even with the door open. We pulled the car out and tilted it on its side. About a liter of water spilled from the pan. Before the breakdown, I cleaned the inside and loosened the screws. Apparently, I didn't tighten them tight enough, hence the leak. After draining the water from the pan and tightening the screws tighter, everything started working again.
Bosch washing machine. The faucet button was blinking. It wouldn't turn off, and resetting it didn't help. I unplugged it, tilted it forward, and nothing leaked. I shook it while I was turning it. I turned it on, and everything worked, it filled with water and washed. I don't know what helped.
Thanks everyone. I had a Bosch washing machine, and when I laid it on its back, water leaked out of the pan. I shook it from side to side, and it started. I couldn't get the pan loose because it has small Torx screws. I don't have any, but I'll buy some now.
Thanks for the article, and the advice about pouring warm water into the compartment finally worked after five attempts and wiggling the Aquastop system tray! The float must have gotten stuck.
Andrey, who wrote the first comment back in 2016. Thanks, friend! It worked!
First, be sure to clean the filters, and if the problem with the faucet indicator is not resolved, then pour water directly into the dishwasher tray, as much as will fit, and run the machine in eco mode.
My tap went out.
Good afternoon.
Bosch built-in sink, 40 cm. It worked fine for several years. Then a problem developed.
You turn on any mode, it starts up fine, all the indicators are normal, the tap is not lit. During operation, it simply stops after an indefinite amount of time—maybe after 5 minutes, maybe 10, maybe 30, or 1.5 hours. It's always different, but the same across different modes. It drains and fills water without any issues.
But why does it stop, emit 5 long beeps, and the faucet light is on or flashing, usually just on? I turn it off, then back on, and the light doesn't come on. I start it again, and the same thing happens: it runs for an indefinite amount of time and then stops.
Help me with this problem, I don’t know what to do or where to go.
I have this problem: the faucet is blinking, and the machine won't turn off when I press the button. No matter how many times I press it, it doesn't respond to anything.
Have you decided? I have the same thing, I don’t know what to do.
Hello. Could you tell me what could be the possible causes? After the entire wash cycle, at the last moment of pumping out the water, the injector valve turns on and stops. BOSCH
Andrey from 2016, thank you from 2022, your advice worked 🙂 But coupled with rocking the machine, it shut down for a day. I only saw your advice on this site 🙂
Guys, hooray, I beat it! The symptoms were the same as Peter's above, plus the E14 error would pop up occasionally. I tried shaking it, disconnecting it, cleaning the filters, jumping around with it, but it would work sometimes, and then not. It was getting on my nerves. I found a solution on YouTube; you just need to clean the alcohol sensor and it worked. I'm so happy 🙂 maybe it will help you too.
We did the same thing, but it only helped for two months and that's it! It doesn't work with water anymore.
Hello, I was reading the comments and couldn't find an answer to my question. The machine starts, the water fills and drains, but I can't figure out if it's rinsing or drying. The machine beeps as if it's finished washing. When I open the door, the indicator light flashes, and the dishes are all wet? Please help.
