Bosch dishwasher indicators
Modern dishwasher models are equipped with various indicators that make operation simple, clear, and easy. These LED indicators not only provide information about the dishwashing process but also alert you to potential malfunctions. In this article, we'll discuss the indicators found in Bosch dishwashers.
Description of indicators
Dishwasher indicators are located on the control panel, which is either at the top of the front of the machine or at the top edge of the door. All Bosch dishwasher models use the following indicator symbols, shown in the image.

- 1 – wash indicator (drawn brush);
- 2 – end of wash indicator;
- 3 – water supply indicator;
- 4 – salt presence indicator;
- 5 – rinse aid indicator.
In dishwasher models with a display, wash modes may be equipped with indicators, as you can see in the photo below:

- indicator 1 corresponds to the temperature selection in the range of 65-750WITH;
- indicator 2 corresponds to the automatic washing program;
- indicator 3 – temperature selection in the range of 35-450WITH;
- indicator 4 is the economical wash mode at 500WITH;
- indicator 5 – quick wash at 450WITH;
- indicator 6 – pre-rinse.
In addition to the features listed above, Bosch dishwashers with a display also feature a time indicator. Some models also feature indicators for additional functions, such as: The Hygiene Plus function is indicated by a baby bottle, and the Extra Drying function is marked with wavy lines with a plus sign.
Please note: There's an indicator at the bottom of the dishwasher door that projects a red dot onto the floor, indicating that the dishwasher is running.
Lighting up of indicators
In Bosch built-in dishwashers with the control panel located on the edge of the door, the indicators turn off when the dishwasher closes. In machines with a remote control panel, some indicators remain illuminated during operation. These include the wash mode indicators. When the program ends, the "End" indicator lights up, and the red light on the floor turns off.
When the "Brush" indicator lights up, it means the washing process is in progress.If the salt indicator lights up, it informs the user that the ion exchanger reservoir is empty and needs to be refilled.
Important! If there is salt in the ion exchanger but the salt indicator is still on, try stirring the salt; this will likely resolve the issue.
The rinse aid indicator light also indicates that the rinse aid is running low. The light will go out when more rinse aid is added.
Indicators are blinking: decoding
If one of your Bosch dishwasher's lights is flashing, it's time to troubleshoot the problem. It could be serious or simple and easily resolved. Very often users turn to masWhen the water supply light ("faucet") flashes, the "End" light may also be on. Typically, the dishwasher may not respond to button presses, there may be a humming sound from the pump, and no water will flow. Possible causes of a flashing water supply sensor include:
- the water supply tap is turned off - it rarely happens when the tap is simply forgotten, or the water to the house is turned off during washing;
- the inlet valve is broken, so no water enters the machine;
- there was a malfunction in the control board, contacts burned out;
- it worked Aqua stop system after water gets into the tray.
Another malfunction occurs when the brush sensor flashes, the machine doesn't wash, but you can hear the pump pumping water. In this case, experts recommend checking whether the Aqua Stop has been activated. You can try tilting the machine slightly to the side to allow the water to drain from the tray, then restart the program.
In some cases, two lights on the control panel may flash simultaneously. For example, the water supply sensor and rinse aid indicator may flash, even though there's rinse aid, water is flowing into the machine, and the washer won't start. In this case, technicians recommend checking the circulation pump and water supply system, but a definitive diagnosis is needed to determine the cause of the flashing lights.
Please note! The water, rinse aid, and salt sensors do not indicate malfunctions.
Therefore, only a technician can diagnose the exact cause of blinking or lit lights on a Bosch dishwasher. In some cases, the lights should be on, as this is part of the program. However, when the machine stops washing dishes and grinds to a halt, you'll have to disassemble the dishwasher to fix the problem. Therefore, be careful and read the instructions before panicking and doing anything.

Thank you. You explained everything quite clearly and concisely.
The hot water stopped working, why?
The heating element burned out, see error E09!
Thank you, everything was explained clearly and understandably.
Thank you very much, you helped :)
When the "brush" sensor blinks, the fault is that the oven sheet is loaded incorrectly (position as in the oven).
Good evening, the water supply valve keeps flashing and the pump is running. The machine can't be turned off. The reset button doesn't work. What should I do?
Hello, all the lights on my Bosch dishwasher are lit up at once, and it doesn't respond to any button presses. I've unplugged it, restarted it, and it's still the same—everything is just lit up. What should I do?
