Bosch Maxx 4 Washing Machine Manual

instructions for Bosch Maxx 4The manufacturers of the Bosch washing machine took the user manual seriously. It contains all the necessary information the user might need, all accompanied by explanatory illustrations. What's special about this manual is that the experts consider safety requirements to be the most important, and this is where the Bosch Maxx 4 manual begins.

Safety

Safe washing machine operation begins with reading the manual, which should be kept in a place where you can easily find it if needed. It doesn't matter whether it's printed or electronic. So, safety precautions state the following:

  1. The machine can only be used in domestic conditions when connected to a cold water supply for washing textiles.
  2. Children and pets must not be allowed near the vehicle.
  3. Do not touch the glass of the hatch door while the appliance is operating, it may be hot.
  4. Do not turn the machine on or off with wet hands.
  5. When disposing of the washing machine, cut off the power cord and break the door lock to prevent children from locking themselves in if they play with the appliance.
  6. Follow all connection and installation instructions to prevent water leakage, electric shock, fire or other hazards.

In case of violation of the listed requirements, the manufacturer is not responsible for the safety of your health and property.

Installation Features

Before using the washing machine, remove the transport locks, which should be saved in case of subsequent transportation. The bolts are located at the back, there are 4 of them in total, to unscrew them you will need a SW 13 wrench. Insert plugs into the resulting holes.

The stability of the washing machine will depend on its installation location. The surface should be smooth and firm, avoiding carpets or soft surfaces; concrete or tiled floors are preferred. When installing on a wooden floor or plinth, screw a water-repellent wooden board at least 30 mm thick to the floor, and secure the machine's feet with WMZ 2200 retaining tabs.

The Bosch Maxx 4 series washing machine can be installed under a solid countertop by replacing the top plastic cover with a sheet metal cover.

The washing machine inlet hose can be connected to a cold water supply only in several ways:

  • to a separate pipe;
  • to the faucet in the bathroom;
  • to the sink faucet in the kitchen.

In all cases, the end of the inlet hose is screwed to the 3/4" thread of the tee faucet. The other, slightly curved end is screwed to the machine, making sure to use rubber washers to ensure a tight connection. Since the nuts on the hose are plastic, tighten them by hand, being careful not to overtighten. Make sure the water supply hose is not kinked or under tension.

connecting the machineThe drain can be installed into a trap, a sink, or a bathtub. A trap is an aesthetically pleasing and safer option. The drain point should be 60 cm above the floor. A hose clamp is used to secure the drain to the trap outlet. This connection will prevent leaks and odors.

Once the hoses are connected and the machine is moved into place, you can finally level it by tightening the locknuts on the front feet. Use a spirit level to ensure the tilt doesn't exceed 2 degrees. Plug the machine in. Make sure there's a waterproof, grounded outlet no more than 1.5 meters to the right of the machine and 1 meter to the left. If there isn't one, call an electrician. Selection of programs and functions

To select the desired program, the control panel features a knob that rotates in both directions. This Bosch Max model offers the following programs:

  1. White linen 900 – washing heavily soiled cotton items.
  2. Intensive wash 600 – designed for washing very dirty items.
  3. Colored laundry with prewash - wash dirty items with a soak cycle in water 600.
  4. Colored underwear 30, 40 and 600 – this program is suitable for durable cotton and linen fabrics, and differs from the previous one in that it does not require soaking.
  5. Synthetics 30, 40 and 600 – a program suitable for mixed fabrics.
  6. Thin underwear 300 – delicate washing mode, for example, suitable for tulle, silk and other delicate items.
  7. Wool 15 and 300 – suitable for machine washable wool items.

By turning the programme selector you can also select functions such as rinse, spin and drain. This model has the following additional functions, which are displayed on the control panel using buttons:

  • reducing the spin speed from 800 to 600 rpm;
  • extra rinse;
  • quick wash;
  • Stop the program with water in the drum, in other words, this button turns off the spin, but the water is not drained.

Additionally, the machine's user manual includes a load chart and wash time for each cycle. According to this chart, wash times range from 45 to 135 minutes.

Starting the wash

Now it's time to test out our new Bosch washing machine. First, turn on the water supply and make sure the washing machine is plugged in. Next, turn the mode selector knob to select your desired program. If you need any features, you can press the corresponding button to enhance the current washing mode. Press the "Start" button. That's it, the program is running, and the process is underway. All that's left is to be patient and wait for it to finish.

Sometimes, a program is already running, some time has passed, but you suddenly realize you made a mistake and need to switch modes immediately. What should you do?

  • We set the program switch to the “zero” position.
  • Wait 2-3 seconds, and then install a new program.
  • Click "Start." The program will switch, and the wash cycle will begin again.

Bosch Max 4 powder trayChoosing the right program is only half the battle; you need to get the right detergent and distribute it within the dispenser. What do you need to do this? The main thing is to know how the dispenser works. Frankly, there's not much to know, as the Maxx 4 series washing machine's dispenser has a simple design. It has three sections:

  • middle section for air conditioner;
  • right segment for soaking;
  • left segment for main wash.

We also use the left cell if we need to add bleach.

So, if you're doing a simple wash without soaking, pour the detergent into the left compartment. If you're doing a soaking wash, add it to the right compartment as well. Adding fabric softener is up to you; if you're adding it, pour it into the middle compartment.

Cleaning and care

Before cleaning your washing machine, unplug it to avoid putting yourself in danger. When cleaning the outside of the appliance, use a mild soap solution and avoid cleaning powders or solvents. After cleaning, dry everything with a dry cloth.

It's recommended to wipe the drum with a dry cloth after each wash and wipe away any water in the rubber seal. This will prevent mold and odor. If you need to descale or remove limescale from your machine, use specialized products. But remember, they contain acids, so they should be used with caution.

The detergent and fabric softener dispenser drawer should be cleaned separately, every 3-4 washes. The drawer is removed by pressing the recess in the center of the drawer. You should also clean the drain and inlet filters regularly. While this isn't necessary often, it's important to keep an eye on these parts. The drain filter is located at the bottom of the machine, and the inlet hose screen is located where the hose connects to the machine body.

So, the Bosch washing machine has a pretty good manual. We've summarized its main contents, but if you have any questions, you can find a link to the full manual below.
