Instructions for the Indesit WIUN 100 washing machine

A washing machine's operating instructions can contain a wealth of useful information, but users often only consider this after using the appliance for the first time. It's best to read the instructions first; if you don't have time to read the printed version, at least the abridged version is a good choice. Below is a quick reference guide for the Indesit WIUN 100.

Important installation points

Once you've verified the washing machine's integrity upon delivery, you can begin installing and connecting it. First, remove the shipping screws and store them for future transport. Then, move the machine closer to the installation site, which has been prepared in accordance with all standards:

• the surface is leveled if possible;
• If it is a plank floor, it must be reinforced;
  

  Important! Do not place the machine on moisture-resistant materials such as laminate or carpet.

• a water supply with a tap must be connected to the installation site, or a tee tap must be installed on the sink mixer;
• the sink siphon must have a drain for connecting waste water;
• there is a connection point next to it socket, if possible connected to the power source through a residual current circuit breaker; properly organized grounding will be a plus. Connecting the machine via an extension cord or together with other devices to the same socket is prohibited.

The washing machine comes with a drain and inlet hose, each no longer than 1.5 meters long, so please take this into account and avoid stretching the hoses. Connecting the hoses is also not recommended. If absolutely necessary, purchase a longer hose from a service center.

The inlet hose is screwed to the machine's water pipe manually, thanks to its plastic washers. The drain hose is secured to the drain trap branch with a clamp or to the edge of the bathtub with a special clip. Both drainage methods are acceptable, but connecting to a drain trap is safer. It's important that the drain point in the drain trap be no lower than 65 cm from the floor, but no higher than 100 cm.

Programs and functions

The Indesit WIUN 100 washing machine manual contains a detailed table describing programs and functions; we will only briefly list them.

For cotton items, you can select one of the following modes:

1. pre-wash for very dirty white items at 90 degrees;
2. intensive wash for white items without pre-soaking at 90 degrees;
3. normal wash of colored laundry at 60 degrees;
4. delicate wash for moderately soiled items at 40 degrees;
5. Colored fabrics – a mode for refreshing items without heavy soiling at 30 degrees.

There are four modes for synthetic fabrics:

• intensive cycle – washing dirty items at 60 degrees;
• normal wash – washing items at 50 degrees;
• delicate fabrics – wash colored synthetic items at 40 degrees;
• Everyday wash – short wash of unsoiled items for 30 minutes at 30 degrees.

For delicate items, there's a "Wool" and "Silk" cycle. These cycles are perfect for washing especially delicate items like cashmere, organza curtains, drapes, and more. All of these cycles are selected by turning the dial.

By turning the selector, you can also select a separate rinse, delicate rinse, spin and delicate spin, draining water from the drum of the machine.

As for additional functions, there are only two of them, they are located as separate buttons on the control panel (from left to right):

1. reducing the spin speed from 1000 to 500 rpm;
2. Reduce cycle times to save energy and water when washing a small amount of laundry.

Starting the wash

After connecting the machine, starting it up begins with an empty wash cycle. This means selecting a mode with water heated to 90 degrees Celsius, adding detergent to the detergent drawer, and starting the cycle without laundry. The question arises: where to put the detergent? It's simple: in the main compartment of the detergent drawer, located in the center. To the left of this compartment is the pre-wash compartment, and to the right is the fabric softener compartment.

To start washing clothes, proceed as follows:

1. Plug the machine into the power supply and press the start button.
2. Load the laundry according to the maximum load of the machine, sorting it and checking the pockets.
3. Turn the selector to the desired program.
4. Add detergent to the tray.
5. If necessary, press the additional function button.
6. Press the program start button.
   If you need to reset the program, hold the Pause button for 2 seconds.
7. Once finished, wait until the door is unlocked, remove the laundry and press the machine's off button.

Cleaning and care

Regularly cleaning your washing machine will extend its lifespan and improve its appearance. So, what should you do to keep it in good condition?

• Regularly wipe the machine body from dust, water drops and dirt using a damp and dry cloth. Neither solvents nor cleaning agents should be used, but a weak soap solution is acceptable.
• Clean the drain filter located behind the lower plastic panel. This should be done 2-3 times a year.
• Wipe the inside of the drum and cuffs to remove water after washing to prevent mold from forming.
• Keep the hatch slightly open.
• Rinse the detergent drawer completely, removing it from the machine to remove any powder or liquid detergent. This can be done every 3-4 washes.
• Clean the inside of the machine by running an empty wash cycle with a special descaler and anti-limescale product.

     The door lock mechanism is loose. If the lock is flashing, gently hit the door with your palm or press it. Water will usually start filling immediately after doing this.
