How to clean a dishwasher from grease at home
A dishwasher's job is to clean away greasy deposits and food debris. Ironically, however, the inside of the machine itself needs to be cleaned periodically to remove dirt, otherwise it will stop functioning properly. Grease residue accumulates in the dust filter, at the base of the lower spray arm, and at the bottom of the wash chamber, and it needs to be removed promptly. How do you clean grease from a dishwasher? We'll tell you exactly how.
Idle start
If you open the door of your dishwasher one day and discover a thin film of greasy residue on the bottom of the washing chamber, take action. Don't wait until the grease has accumulated in a thick layer and you have to figure out how to remove it. When the grease is just a little bit, run the dishwasher empty. What does this mean?
- We open the dishwasher door and take out all unnecessary items: dirty dishes, dish baskets, cutlery trays.
Baskets and trays can be washed separately and even soaked in a large container with some strong household chemicals.
- Place dishwashing powder or tablet (depending on your product) into the dishwasher's drawer. These products contain concentrated anti-grease agents. If there are no dirty dishes, they will dissolve grease on the walls of the dishwasher, inside the dust filter, and elsewhere.
- Close the door and start washing dishes in hot water, at least at 600C. The program must last at least 3 hours.
- Once the wash is complete, we open the door and stuff everything we took out earlier into the wash chamber.
These simple "bath procedures" allow you to effectively clean the inside of your dishwasher. Most often, this is enough to completely get rid of fat, but only on condition that you do such procedures regularly. If the machine hasn't been cleaned for a long time, you should resort to another method.
Manual cleaning
Cleaning a dishwasher of stubborn grease at home is only possible by hand. There's no need to explain this; you already know what you're doing. If you wash greasy dishes and then leave the machine alone for 1-2 weeks, the remaining grease will dry onto the parts. A hard layer forms that's difficult to remove. The only way to do this is by hand.
You can clean the inside of your dishwasher using any convenient brush and a good grease-dissolving detergent. The cleaning technique is simple: just apply the detergent to the brush and go. Pay attention to hard-to-reach areas where grease accumulates in large quantities:
- under and around the lower sprinkler;
- on the sprinkler impeller;
- in the trash filter;
- on the trash filter grid;
- in the corners of the washing chamber;
- at the bottom of the rear wall of the washing chamber.
Scrubbing away caked-on grease is a real pain, but you'll get a feel for what it's like and will be more likely to clean your dishwasher on time. You can also apply dishwashing liquid to the interior surfaces of the dishwasher an hour before cleaning to make the job easier.
We use special chemicals
Specialdishwasher cleaning products It's best to use these. Dishwasher repair technicians recommend regularly using these chemicals to prolong the life of your dishwashers. However, when purchasing these chemicals, make sure they're from a reputable manufacturer and not too cheap. Sometimes, harsh chemicals are sold under the guise of dishwasher cleaning agents, which are dangerous for both appliances and human health.
When figuring out how to clean a dishwasher, people take regular vinegar and pour it in without measure, hoping that it will destroy all the dirt. In fact, vinegar does not remove all the dirt, while at the same time causing damage to the machine parts, Therefore, we recommend either not using it at all, or using it rarely and in low concentrations.
The proprietary dishwasher cleaner is very easy to use. Simply pour it into the detergent or tablet compartment, select a long wash cycle, remove the dirty dishes from the wash chamber, and run the program. Once the cycle is complete, the inside of the machine will be clean.
So, cleaning a washing machine from grease isn't always easy. Sometimes it's difficult, but necessary physical labor. It's important to remember one thing: the more often you clean your "home helper," the easier it will be. Forget about the "bath procedures" a couple of times, and the machine will become coated in grime, which means the most unpleasant thing of all—manual cleaning.
