How to wash glasses in the dishwasher

washing glasses in a dishwasherWine glasses and cocktail glasses can accumulate in large numbers after a boisterous gathering. Rinsing them by hand takes only a few seconds, but achieving perfect cleanliness can be quite challenging.

The problem is that after hand washing and drying completely, dried water drops and streaks remain on the sides of wine glasses. You can get rid of these streaks by washing them in the dishwasher, but how do you do it properly? This is the question we'll be answering.

Choosing dishes

If you have a dishwasher, consider which glasses are safe to wash in it and which aren't. Crystal glasses are best avoided. If the manufacturer specifically prohibits dishwasher use, consider replacing them with glassware. Thin glassware is not suitable for the dishwasher; it is better to choose glasses with medium to thick walls. This will be safer, although wine connoisseurs prefer thinner glasses. So, which glasses are dishwasher safe?

  1. Red wine glasses.
  2. For white wine.
  3. For drinks made from sour grape varieties.
  4. Port voice.
  5. Flute.
  6. Wine glasses.
  7. Cocktail glasses, etc.

The shape and size of the glass is not of fundamental importance, as long as it can be placed in the basket inside the dishwasher’s washing chamber.

How to install correctly?arranging glasses in the dishwasher

A dedicated glassware dishwasher is an unaffordable luxury for the average kitchen, so a regular dishwasher should be used for washing these items. If you simply place glasses in the dishwasher baskets next to regular dishes, they will likely not be washed properly and may even break. They need to be stacked correctly. The instructions will explain how to load glasses into the dishwasher.

  1. We place the glasses with the stems facing up.
  2. If the glasses are very tall, they should be placed in the lower basket; if they are not too tall, they should be placed in the upper basket.
  3. We secure glasses with special holders to prevent them from falling sideways during the wash. If your machine doesn't have these, you can purchase them.

Holders can be fixed or removable. Removable ones are more convenient to use.

  1. Place the glasses loosely against each other. There should be a small gap, at least a couple of millimeters. Other dishes should also not be placed too close to the glasses.
  2. Avoid washing heavily soiled dishes while washing glasses. Glasses won't survive an intensive wash cycle. Wash the dirtiest items later, in a second batch.

Selecting a program and detergents

Once the dishes are loaded, you can begin washing. Carefully push the baskets into the wash chamber. Pour half the detergent into the detergent compartment. If you're using tablets, use only half. Check the salt reservoir. Close the door and set the wash cycle.

It's recommended to wash glasses on a quick cycle, but thick-walled glass items can withstand a regular wash. Set the temperature to no higher than 40°C.0WITH.Dishwasher mode you need to choose carefully.

Run the wash cycle and wait until it's finished. Once the dishes are dry inside the wash chamber, you can carefully remove them and store them in the cabinet. When removing glasses, be careful. Try to handle them only by the stem to avoid leaving marks on the glass. This applies not only to glass but also to crystal. Wine glasses, and any other glasses, require careful handling!

So, there's nothing tricky about washing wine glasses in the dishwasher. Just follow the instructions exactly, and you're sure to succeed without any problems. Best of luck!
