While some argue that anti-vibration pads are unnecessary if the washing machine is installed correctly, this principle doesn't always hold true. Sometimes, even if the washing machine is installed strictly according to the instructions and everything is done correctly, it still makes a lot of noise and vibrates during operation. In these cases, special rubber pads are used. But how do you choose the right anti-vibration pads?

Why does the car "jump"?

So, before heading to the washing machine parts store, you need to double-check that the installation was carried out correctly. To check, disconnect the washing machine from all power sources and try rocking it by hand. If the unit "slides" right away, it means the floor underneath is uneven, or the feet themselves are not touching the surface evenly.

If the problem is with the feet, you can adjust the nuts in different directions until they are level. If the floor is uneven, you have two options: either level it or buy a very sturdy stand specifically for the washing machine. Wooden floors, which tend to sag, especially need to be leveled periodically. Other reasons why the washing machine may make noise and move actively during operation.

Important! Using stands only makes sense in the last of these cases. In all other cases, the problem will have to be resolved with a full repair.

Types of vibration dampers

Now you can start choosing washing machine footrests. They differ only in color, shape, and material. Footrests are typically black or white, and round, square, or polygonal in shape, but the material is a bit more complicated.

The pads can be made of rubber or polyurethane. They are quite durable and long-lasting. They are no more than 5 centimeters in diameter. The surface of these pads is textured to ensure stable support for the feet. The bottom is equipped with stiffening ribs, which help dampen vibrations even more.

Silicone stands are virtually identical in quality to rubber ones. They're softer and more transparent, and more expensive. However, according to reviews, both perform their functions reliably and last for quite a long time. Anti-vibration feet, which fit onto the feet of the washing machine, are even made of silicone.

An alternative is a shock-absorbing mat. It's placed directly under the unit, and the feet are inserted into special recesses in the corners. It is easier to choose a rug than legs, but it is not as cheap due to its size.

Features of selection

Most users cite the fact that the washing machine not only makes less noise and is less inconvenient to use, but also moves less during the spin cycle, protecting the flooring. The constant movement of the feet scratches the floor, causing the floor to sag, and denting the linoleum. This won't happen with footrests.
