What bearings are in a Hotpoint-Ariston washing machine?

What bearings are in a Hotpoint-Ariston washing machine?It's best to find out what bearings your Hotpoint-Ariston washing machine uses before starting the repair. This will allow you to purchase the parts in advance and avoid interruptions during the repair. Bearing sizes vary by model. Let's find out which parts are compatible with different Ariston washing machines.

Selecting the right bearings

If you carefully approach the selection of components, it will be difficult to make a mistake. Each model HotpointAriston specific bearings and seals correspond. They differ in the diameter of the inner and outer holes and thickness. Therefore, check the name of your "home assistant" and its serial number in the instructions or on the nameplate.

Many Ariston washing machines are equipped with 203 and 204 bearings. In most cases, these bearings correspond to a 25x47/64x7/10 seal. These models are:bearings 203-204

In some Hotpoint-Ariston models, if the bearing assembly breaks down, you will have to replace the entire tank; these are AQSL 85 CSI, AVL 80 CIS, AVL 100 CSI, AVF 109 EU, AQSF 129 CSI machines.

If you're hesitant to buy bearings in advance, there's another approach. Disassemble the washing machine and remove the bearing rings. Show the store clerk the old parts – they'll measure the diameter and thickness and select similar parts.

The manager will also help you select the right seal. Also, be sure to buy special grease for washing machine bearings—you'll need to apply it to the rings, shaft, and sealing rubber. It's best to buy genuine Hotpoint-Ariston washing machine parts rather than cheap replacements.

Why are there bearings in a washing machine?

An automatic washing machine with broken bearings will not function properly. The bearing assembly “connects” the drum and the pulley, allowing the electric motor to spin the container to the required speed. Damaged rings cannot ensure the normal operation of the mechanism.

There are various signs that indicate bearing failure:

  • loud noise, grinding and knocking while the machine is running;
  • increased vibration of the washing machine body;
  • drum play;Signs of a broken washing machine bearing
  • damage to the inner edge of the hatch cuff (an imbalance occurs, the laundry rubs against the elastic, deforming the seal);
  • washing machine it doesn't wring out laundry well;
  • There are rusty stains on the back wall of the tank.

Most Ariston models have bearings in a crosspiece that attaches to the drum. The unit contains two rings—an inner and an outer ring. The former is stronger due to its larger diameter and increased thickness. The latter is located at the end of the shaft and serves as a supporting element, making it smaller.

Some Hotpoint-Ariston washing machines have a single bearing. This element has two rows of balls, eliminating the need for a second ring. Models with a single double-row bearing are rare, but they do exist, and this is something to consider.

The gland is very important

The seal must be replaced along with the rings. The seal protects the bearings, preventing premature wear. The gasket prevents water from entering the unit. The dimensions of this part will also vary depending on the washing machine model.

When replacing the washing machine drum bearings, be sure to purchase and install a new seal.

Three types of seals are used in the production of automatic machines today:Lubricate the washing machine seal

  • single-edged – they only prevent water from entering the unit;
  • Single-lip, complete with a dust cover. This provides additional protection against debris and dirt from entering the unit;
  • V-RINGs are seals with a V-shaped profile. These seals are only installed on top-loading machines. Their unique shape provides complete protection against water, dust, and debris.

All modern seals are reinforced with a metal mesh. It's important not to damage this reinforcing base during installation. The seal's original shape must be preserved.

The seal is installed on top of the bearing, in a specially designated seat. The gasket seals the hole, preventing dust and moisture from entering the unit. It's best to buy genuine seals rather than Chinese-made alternatives. Skimping on components in this case is pointless.
