What kind of bearings are in a Samsung washing machine?
Before attempting to repair the bearing assembly, it's important to know what bearings are installed in your Samsung washing machine. The diameter and thickness of the bearing rings vary depending on the model, and selecting the wrong parts will prevent the job from being completed. If you don't want to waste time buying additional parts, we suggest familiarizing yourself with the size chart first.
Compatibility of components with machine models
Choosing the right components is easy—just study the relevant size chart beforehand. It lists all popular Samsung washing machines and the bearings and seals they come with. Key part specifications, such as width and inner and outer bore diameter, are also provided. The following "combinations" are recommended.
- Bearing 203-204 fits Samsung models S621, S801, P1091, WF 7522S8R, P8091, F1013J, F1015J, WF-F1061/YLW, S803J, S821, S832, S 852, S1005J, S1021, S1043, SWF-P12, WF 6458N7W and WF 7520S8C. This number is also used in bearing assemblies of Samsung machines S815, S813, R833, P843GW, P843 GWIYLP and R1031 GWS1U\YLW. An oil seal in dimensions 25x50.55x10 or 25x50.5x10/12 is required.
- Size 204-205 fits Samsung WF0592SRK washing machines. A 30×60.55×10 oil seal is included.
- Rings marked 205-206 are suitable for the Samsung WF-B1062, SWF-P10, P1043GW/YLP, and WF B1061 models. Part numbers 205 and 206 are also used when repairing the SWF-P10 IW/YLW, WF-B1061, R833, and R1031 washing machines. The cuff is available in sizes 35x65.55x10x12 or 44.7x65.55x10x12.
- Single-row bearings 305-306 are installed on Samsung WF-R105 AV washing machines. The largest seal required is 35*75.5*10/12.
For most Samsung washing machines, a bearing marked 203-204 is suitable.
It's easy to see that rings 203-204 are most popular. This is because the 203 has the most versatile dimensions. Its inner diameter is 17 mm, the outer diameter is 40 mm, and the ring width does not exceed 12 mm. The mounting chamfer is 1 mm, and the part weighs approximately 0.073 kg. If we consider imported equivalents, the 6203 brand is suitable.
Next in the size range is bearing 205. The imported equivalent, number 6205, has larger dimensions. The inner diameter increases to 25 mm, and the outer diameter to 52 mm. The width is 15 mm, the mounting chamfer is 1.5 mm, and the weight is limited to 0.129 kg.
The largest single-row standard bearing is designated "305" or "6305" in the international designation. The inner diameter of the ring is 25 mm, while the outer diameter reaches 62 mm. The part is 17 mm wide, which affects the mounting chamfer, which is set at 2 mm. This also increases the weight—approximately 0.23 kg.
Bearings 6201, 6202, 6207 are extremely rarely used in Samsung machines.
If you don't want to compare your washing machine's serial number with the table, you can take another approach. Disassemble the washing machine, remove the worn bearings, and show them to a service center consultant. A specialist can easily measure the ring and select a replacement. It will also help you select the right seal and other tools, parts, and materials needed for bearing repair (marker, sealant, WD-40 cleaner, Allen key, grease). Just be sure to look only for genuine parts and check the markings.
Bearing unit design
Incorrectly selected bearings will compromise the washing machine's operation. The bearing assembly connects the drum and pulley, allowing the washing machine's motor to accelerate to the set speed. Therefore, the proper installation of the bearing rings is crucial for the smooth operation of the entire mechanism.
Most washing machines from Samsung and other manufacturers have bearings mounted in a crosspiece, which in turn is attached to the rear wall of the drum. The knot consists of two rows of “rings”. The first, internal one, is more powerful due to its increased diameter and thickness, carries the main load, and is located closer to the tank. The second one, which is several times smaller, is located at the end of the shaft and serves as a secondary function.
Modern Samsung washing machines are equipped with a mono-bearing – a solid ring consisting of two rows of balls.
Some models don't have a division into large and small bearings, as they use single-row bearings. These are rings that contain two rows of balls, eliminating the need for a second set. In this case, one double-row element is installed instead of the two standard ones.
Types and functions of the seal
Bearing assembly repairs are incomplete without replacing the seals. These rubber seals protect the bearings from premature wear and grease washout. However, while the function remains unchanged, the size and type of seal may vary. Several types of seals are currently used in washing machine manufacturing.
- Single-edged. Prevents leakage only.
- Single-lip seals with a dust cover. In addition to leak protection, they also provide sealing against dust and other debris.
- V-RING. Oil seals with a V-shaped profile. Their unique shape allows them to fit tightly against the deflector disc, providing complete protection from moisture and dust. Installed only on vertical models.
All modern seals are equipped with a metal grate. During installation, it is important not to damage the reinforcing base, preserving the original shape of the rubber.
During installation, the seal is placed in the seat on the tank or directly in the crosspiece. The rubber band is lowered with its edge downwards, due to which a so-called working friction pair is formed with the drum shaft.The cuff seals the hole and prevents moisture and dust from damaging the bearings.
