How to use laundry capsules in a washing machine?
Scientific and technological progress never stands still, with various unusual new products constantly appearing, surprising people and making their lives easier. Laundry detergents and similar products are gradually becoming a thing of the past. Nowadays, homeowners are learning how to properly use washing capsules in their washing machines. While they're generally easy and convenient to use, there are a few things to keep in mind.
How to use the capsules and how they work
Laundry capsules are detergents packaged in mini-containers. The composition of these pads may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer and their intended use. Most capsule laundry detergents contain the following ingredients:
- high concentration gel;
- stain remover;
- whitening ingredients;

- surfactant complex;
- enzymes that remove dirt;
- phosphonates, which soften water;
- air conditioner.
The action of chemicals begins after the shell has completely dissolved.
On boxes with capsules it is most often indicated: 2-in-1 or 3-in-1. Two-component capsules contain cleaning and stain-removing agents. In three-component products, in addition to the first two ingredients, conditioner is added.
Using gel pads is easy. Just follow a few simple steps.
- Please read the instructions on the packaging before use. They will indicate which items can be washed with this product, the temperature setting, the recommended program, dosage, and safety precautions.
- Remove the capsule and place it in the washing machine drum (it is recommended to place it closer to the far wall).
- Load pre-sorted laundry.
- Set the required mode.
- Turn on the machine.
Rules for the use of encapsulated products
If capsules are used incorrectly, their effectiveness will be negligible. When using encapsulated products, it is important to strictly adhere to certain guidelines.
- The temperature should be at least 30, the shell dissolves better in warm water.
- The capsules should be placed directly into the drum. If you place them in the wash compartment, the outer film will not dissolve and the active ingredients will not be able to work on the dirty laundry.
- Do not break the capsule shell yourself.

- Do not use gel pads together with soap, powder, stain remover, etc.
- If the weight of the clothes is large (over 5 kg) or the items are very dirty, then it is allowed to use two capsules at the same time
- Do not touch the tablets with wet hands, as this may cause the film to break.
- Do not use capsules to soak laundry.
Please note: Pads should be stored tightly sealed in a cool, dry place.
Why didn't the capsule dissolve?
It also happens that after washing, the pillow remains practically intact. This may be due to the following:
- poor machine loading;
- the temperature is lower than indicated in the instructions.
What should you do in this case? It's best to use the rinse cycle on your washing machine or rinse the garment by hand in warm water. Rubbing alcohol can be used to remove the stain. Apply it for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Be prepared to repeat the treatment several times until the stain is completely gone.
Pros and cons of capsules
Although some homeowners continue to use regular laundry detergent, laundry capsules are becoming increasingly popular every year. This is due to the numerous advantages they offer over powder.
- They are easy to use.
- They are more economical and contain a clearly measured dose of the product.
- Multifunctional. A single capsule can remove dirt, stains, whiten, and soften clothes, as it also contains conditioner.

- They remove even the toughest stains perfectly. No need to pre-soak the laundry.
- Versatile. Suitable for washing both natural and synthetic items of any color.
- They do not damage the material or colour even with regular washing.
- When exposed to water, they dissolve completely, are easily washed away, and do not stick to parts or the walls of the washing machine.
- They're compact, easy, and convenient to store. The plastic container that holds the capsules seals tightly, preventing moisture from entering, and doesn't require much space.
Important! The sealed container prevents direct contact of the active ingredient with the respiratory tract and skin. This minimizes the risk of allergies or burns.
Despite all their advantages, gel tablets also have some disadvantages:
- They can't be separated. Therefore, if you have only a few items, taking a pillow is impractical.
- Hand wash is not possible.
- More expensive than other detergents.
- They have a distinct scent that lasts for a long time.
- If a short wash program and low temperature are selected, there is a risk that the film will not dissolve.
- The bright, attractive appearance of the capsules attracts children. Therefore, capsules should be stored out of the reach of children.
Housewives who have tried various laundry detergents prefer capsules. Gel blocks are much more cost-effective: they are economical, versatile, easy to use, compact, and remove stains effectively.
