Haier Washing Machine Error Codes

first pictureHaier washing machine error codes are nothing more than a means of communication between their self-diagnostic systems and the user. If the washing machine experiences any malfunction, this system will display a special code. By decoding this code, the user can roughly determine the problem and take appropriate action. Therefore, we first need to understand how Haier washing machine error codes are deciphered, and that's what we'll cover in this article.

User generated problems

In some cases, the user themselves are the reason why a Haier washing machine stops washing and displays an error message. Anything can happen: the user forgot to add detergent and started the wash cycle without it, overloaded the drum with laundry, or distributed the laundry incorrectly. Without further ado, let's list these errors and briefly describe them.

  1. No salt. This message, also known as an error code, clearly alerts the user that there is no powder in the tray. If you there is low-quality powder in the trayIf you are sure that you have poured in powder, then most likely the powder receiver channel is clogged. In rarer cases, a washing machine Haier mistake No Salt reacts to low quality powder.
  2. UNB. This code alerts the user to an imbalance within the drum. Typically, an imbalance occurs because the user has not properly distributed the laundry in the drum when loading it before washing. Sometimes, an imbalance occurs because the user is washing a single, bulky, heavy item.

Often, an imbalance can be caused by underloading or overloading the Haier washing machine drum. Make sure to load the drum correctly.

  1. ERR1 This error occurs when the machine cannot start the wash cycle because the door is not closed. The most common cause is that the user simply did not press the door firmly enough, causing it to not close, resulting in the error. However, this error is often caused by a faulty door lock or a broken latch on the door.

Problems with filling and draining water

Problems related to the inability to fill or drain the washing machine's tank are quite common; it's no exaggeration to say they're even the most common. That's why the Haier washing machine's self-diagnostic system has so many codes dedicated to water-related faults. Let's list them.

  • ERR2 This code appears when the tank fails to drain within the 4 minutes set by the program. This can occur for several reasons: the pump is clogged or broken, the drain hose is bent incorrectly, or the drain hose is kinked or broken.

In some cases, ERR2 appears when there is a power failure in the drain pump of the Haier washing machine.

The pump on my Haier washing machine broke.

  • ERR5 indicates an inability to fill the Haier washing machine's drum with water. The washing machine should fill to the programmed level within a maximum of 8 minutes. If this doesn't happen, this error occurs. Why does this happen? There are several possible causes: the water pressure is very low, the tap is closed and therefore no water is flowing, the inlet valve screen is clogged with debris, or there is a power failure in the inlet valve, pump, or pressure switch.
  • ERR8 This code indicates that too much water has entered the machine's tank. In 97% of cases, a faulty pressure switch is the culprit. In much rarer cases, this code is caused by a burnt-out control board triac, which controls the water level sensor.
  • ERR9: Oddly enough, this code has the same meaning as ERR8, with the only difference being that ERR9 can be caused by different reasons. Specifically, the fill valve has burned out, preventing the module from stopping the water flow into the tank, or the triac controlling the fill valve has burned out.
  • ERR10 This error is also associated with a malfunction of the washing machine's hydraulic system, but unlike the codes described above, in our case the inlet valve functions normally, but the pressure switch is broken in 99% of cases.

the intake valve mesh is clogged

Problems with water heating

Now let's talk about errors related to water heating in Haier washing machines. Let's list these codes and then decipher them.

ERR3. This error code can be literally deciphered as: "...the heating element is unable to heat the water to the temperature set by the program..." This error also appears if the heating element does not heat the water at all. The main reasons are: the temperature sensor has burned out or the power supply to the temperature sensor has been interrupted.

ERR4. This code is interpreted in the same way as ERR3, but ERR4 is caused by a burnt-out heating element, not a burnt-out temperature sensor. Furthermore, if the heating element's power supply is interrupted and it doesn't turn on, an ERR4 error will appear.

Electrical and electronics

A modern Haier automatic washing machine is literally crammed with electronics and electrical components. A large number of bundled wires power dozens of sensors and modules that ensure the machine's operation. The electronic module controls this entire complex system, ensuring its proper functioning. If any of these components malfunction, the washing machine's self-diagnostic system will alert the user by displaying one of the following codes.

ERR6. This error indicates a malfunction on the control module board. There could be many possible causes. One of the tracks could be damaged, one or more semiconductor components could fail, or the contact between the track and the component could be lost.

In slightly rarer cases, this error occurs if one or more wires in the connector block leading to the control module board connector are loose, causing contact to be lost.

The Haier washing machine module burned out

ERR7. This code isn't seen very often. It indicates that several components of the control module have burned out, and the fault is critical. This can happen, for example, as a result of a short circuit. ERR7 is a more serious problem than ERR6.

EUAR. This is another very serious malfunction, typically occurring in the control module. In rarer cases, this error occurs when an entire bundle of wires leading to the electronic module burns out.

Troubleshooting

Now it's time to talk about troubleshooting the causes of the above errors. We'll discuss this in a general manner, of course, without going into detail, as there are dedicated articles for detailed troubleshooting steps.

If you see the "No Salt" message, you should check whether there's detergent in the dispenser, clean the detergent drawer, or replace it with a higher-quality detergent. Did you see the UNB code? Stop the wash cycle, distribute the laundry inside the Haier washing machine's drum, and then restart the wash cycle. If you encounter the ERR1 error, try pushing the door with your knee without turning off the washing machine. This often helps restart the wash cycle. If this doesn't work, you'll have to repair the washing machine door locking device.

If the ERR2 error code appears, check the drain hose. It may be bent incorrectly during installation or clogged, preventing water from draining. If the hose is fine, you'll need to access the housing, remove the drain pump, and clean it of any debris. While you're at it, you should also check it with a multimeter for any faults, and if any are found, replace the part. If you encounter the ERR3 error code, remove the back panel of your Haier washing machine and check the temperature sensor and the wiring connected to it with a multimeter. Most likely, the sensor will need to be replaced.

Checking the heating element of a Haier washing machine

ERR4 will prompt you to check not the temperature sensor, which, by the way, is installed on the heating element, but the heating element itself or the wiring that connects to it. First, measure the resistance of the heating element, then move on to the electrical wiring that powers it. If ERR5 occurs, check that there is water in the water supply and that all faucets are open. If water is supplied but not reaching the washing machine, remove and clean the filter mesh on the inlet valve. If that doesn't help, you'll have to use a multimeter to check the inlet valve, pressure switch, and pump one by one.

If you encounter the ERR6 error, you can reset your Haier washing machine by unplugging it and then plugging it back in after a few minutes. If this doesn't help, don't hesitate to call a technician, as you're unlikely to be able to repair the control board yourself. Incidentally, the ERR7 error should prompt you to take the same steps as with the ERR6 error, although in this case, be prepared for significant costs.

The ERR8 code tells us it's time to check the washing machine's pressure switch. Start with its tube. It should be blown out and carefully cleaned of any dirt, then checked with a multimeter. If you encounter an error ERR9, feel free to check the intake module with a multimeter. First, inspect the intake valve itself; it may be clogged with dirt and unable to open and close properly. Then, check the electrical system. If necessary, replace the intake module.

Finally, if you encounter the ERR10 error, open the top cover of your Haier washing machine and carefully inspect the pressure switch and its power supply. First, check the resistance of this component with a multimeter, then check the power supply wiring for a breakdown.

In conclusion, it's worth noting that the Haier washing machine, like any other modern automatic washing machine, has a self-diagnostic system that communicates with the user through a special code system. To understand the washing machine, you need to know how to decode these codes. We've provided this code system in this article, and we hope you find it helpful. Good luck!
