Such a machine must not only fit in the limited space but also perform effectively. In this case, compact front-loading washing machines are a good option. What kind of washing machines are these, what are their features, and what brands are available? Let's discuss all of this.

Dimensions

In most cases, sales consultants divide all washing machines into: full-size, slimline (super-slimline), and compact. Some salespeople call compact narrow models of cars, which, in our opinion, is inaccurate. That's why it's important to clarify right away which cars will be discussed in this article.

So, if a full-size washing machine is 80-85 cm high, 55-60 cm wide, and 55-60 cm deep, then compact models should be an order of magnitude smaller. This means that small washing machines have the following dimensions:

• height up to 79 cm;
• width up to 50 cm;
• depth up to 50 cm.

Important! To avoid the salesperson intentionally selling you a narrow washing machine as compact, bring a tape measure with you to the store and measure the dimensions of the appliance. This way, you'll know whether it's a good fit.

Pros and cons

The undeniable advantage of compact washing machines is their size. Thanks to this, such washing machines are installed not only in the kitchen, but also in the bathroom under the sink. Some people manage to place the washing machine in the toilet. This type of equipment can easily be hidden in a cabinet.

Compact washing machines consume less water and energy, making them economical.

However, these machines have more disadvantages than advantages, and it is these that deserve special attention:

• Firstly, the drum capacity of such washing machines does not exceed 4.5 kg, which does not allow you to wash a large down blanket or down jacket;
• secondly, the price of such machines is still high; for the same money you can buy a full-size unit with better characteristics;
• thirdly, the choice of compact cars is very limited, you still need to search to find what you need;
• fourthly, the quality of washing, spinning and other characteristics of these machines are questionable, and it is worth noting the difficulty of repairing them;
• Fifthly, when installing and connecting this type of machine under the sink, a special siphon and sink are required, and this means additional costs.

Regular mini cars

Well, now let's see which manufacturers can boast of having compact washing machines. The leader in this regard is the Swiss company EuroSoba, which offers the following models of machines:

• The EuroSoba 600 is a compact machine with a load capacity of just 3 kg of dry laundry. Its exact dimensions (W x D x H) are 46 x 45 x 68 cm. It uses approximately 50 liters of water per wash cycle. It spins at 600 rpm.
• The EuroSoba 1000 is another compact washing machine with a 3 kg capacity. It features a spin speed of 1000 rpm.
• EuroSoba 1100 – this model is designed for the same load as the two previous models of machines, but it spins at 1100 rpm.

Please note! The drum of Swiss washing machines is made of stainless steel. These machines are expensive, and therefore are rarely in demand among Russian consumers.

Compact washing machines are offered by a well-known manufacturer such as Electrolux, these are the models:

• The Electrolux EWC 1150 has a 3 kg load capacity and dimensions (W x D x H) of 50 x 52 x 67 cm. It spins at 1100 rpm. Its downside is the lack of child safety and leakage protection.
• The Electrolux EWC 1350 is a washing machine with a maximum capacity of 3 kg. It features good protection and spins at 1300 rpm. Its dimensions (W x D x H) are 50 x 51 x 67 cm.

Italian manufacturer Zanussi offers the compact Zanussi FCS 1020 C, which differs little from competing machines. It has a drum capacity of up to 3 kg and a spin speed of 1000 rpm. It measures 50 cm wide, 52 cm deep, and 67 cm high. But it costs significantly less than other representatives of this class.

Compact appliances with drying

Some people are interested not just in compact washing machines, but in machines with a drying function. It's worth noting that the most compact units have a depth of 41 to 45 cm, a width of 50 to 60 cm, and a height of 81 to 85 cm. These dimensions correspond to narrow washing machines.

Here are some models of small front-loading washing machines with a drying function:

• Candy GVW 264 DC is a machine with a loading capacity of up to 6 kg and drying capacity of up to 4 kg. This is not only a compact model, but also the cheapest. With dimensions (WxDxH) of 60x44x85 cm, it copes well with its tasks. It has 12 washing modes.
• The LG F-12U1HDM1N is a front-loading washing machine capable of washing 7 kg of dry laundry and drying 4 kg. It also has 5 drying modes and 14 wash programs. Overall, it's a good washing machine for around $500.
• The Samsung WD806U2GAGD is a washer-dryer with a wash capacity of up to 8 kg and a dry capacity of 4 kg. While compact, its functionality is impressive. It's energy-efficient. But there is a downside: the lack of full protection against leaks. And this model costs more than its competitors.

As you can see, compact washing machines come in a variety of sizes depending on their functionality. Models less than 50 cm deep and wide will have a limited selection of programs. But sometimes even the bare minimum is enough to get the job done.
