Containers and containers for washing powder
Storing household laundry detergents at home can sometimes leave you unsure where to put them. Ignoring proper storage can cause the laundry detergent to lose its cleaning properties. But this is the lesser of two evils. Powder particles can end up on food and then in your body. To avoid this, store the detergent properly, using special containers. What these containers look like and the different types are—that's what we'll discuss.
Varieties
A container for washing powder is a plastic (polypropylene) container, which can have different volumes and shapes. The most common containers are in the shape of a square bucket with a handle. There are also containers in the shape of a jug with a handle.
According to their purpose, all powder containers can be divided into:
- storage containers;
- Laundry containers.
The storage containers are large and have a hermetically sealed lid. Plastic laundry detergent containers resemble cups with graduated markings and a lid with holes. These holes allow the detergent to be flushed out during the wash cycle directly into the washing machine drum.
Containers also differ in color, design, plastic quality, and manufacturer.
Detergent containers come in 5-liter, 6-liter, and 8-liter capacities. For storing larger quantities of detergent, there are 25-liter containers. Laundry detergent containers typically hold no more than 200-250 ml.
Is there a need for it?
Whether or not to buy a powder storage container is up to each individual. But it's hard to argue with its advantages:
- Firstly, it is convenient to pour washing powder from the container. Some containers have a special spout for this purpose. But you can also use a measuring spoon;
- secondly, a hermetically sealed lid prevents the powder from spreading its odor throughout the room where the powder is stored, and also prevents the powder from absorbing moisture, which can lead to the formation of lumps and loss of cleaning effect;
- thirdly, the container does not allow light to pass through, which means that the powder will not lose its properties during the expiration date;
- fourthly, if you accidentally touch the container, you will not spill the powder, and pets will not be able to open the container;
- Fifthly, narrow containers can be placed next to the washing machine, it will take up little space, and you will not have to run for powder.
Important! This container is only necessary if you buy powder in large packages, larger than 3 kg. It's unlikely to be needed if you buy 450 g packs of powder.
