The dispenser has several compartments for different types of products, and if you place the fabric softener in the wrong place, the results can be disappointing. Let's look at where to pour the fabric softener, using a Hotpoint-Ariston washing machine as an example.

Special compartment in the drawer for funds

Many people wonder why the detergent drawer is divided into sections at all, since everything ends up inside the drum during the wash cycle. However, if you think about it, you can quite logically come to the conclusion that the washing machine doesn't dispense all the detergent at once, but dispenses it in batches, depending on the current stage of the wash cycle.

For example, fabric softener should be removed from the dispenser after washing, during the rinsing phase, while the main detergent, conversely, is dispensed first. This is precisely why the washing machine has compartments; the machine is programmed to dispense detergent from a particular compartment at a specific point in the cycle.

Important! If you place fabric softener in the main wash cycle, the washing machine will use it up prematurely, your clothes won't get clean, and the product will be wasted.

In Hotpoint-Ariston washing machines, the fabric softener compartment is very easy to identify—it's marked with a flower, butterfly, and so on, unlike the other two compartments, which are numbered in Roman numerals. • Remove it and clean it thoroughly with a washcloth, brush or hard sponge.
• Pour lemon juice (1 tablespoon) into each section and run a cycle without items.
• Pour baking soda into the compartments and fill with a 9% acetic acid solution. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then scrub with a brush.

The combination of baking soda and acetic acid also returns the plastic to its original white color (plastic tends to turn yellow over time).
