Where do I put detergent in my Atlant washing machine?
Although almost every home has a washing machine, people sometimes encounter problems using it, especially if they've recently replaced their old machine with a new one. In particular, the question often arises: where should I put the detergent in my Atlant washing machine? The problem is that the design of the detergent drawer can be slightly different from other brands, which can cause difficulties.
Powder box design
Atlant washing machines have three compartments. Why have multiple compartments if you can pour detergent into any of them? It's crucial to load the detergent correctly depending on the selected mode. Each compartment of the tray has its own number indicating its purpose. The order of the branches may differ, so you should focus on the numbers.
Before placing detergent in the washing machine dispenser, read the markings inside.
- I is usually the right side of the drawer. This is where detergent is placed when laundry is heavily soiled and requires a prewash. If you use this setting, you should always place detergent in this section.
- II – usually located on the left side of the detergent drawer. This is where you should place the bulk of your detergent, as it's used for the main wash. This compartment is used for all washing modes.

- The flower symbol or * indicates the compartment for fabric softener, rinse aid, or other liquid detergent. It's easily identifiable by its shape, volume, and color. This section is narrow and holds significantly less detergent than the others.
You can't pour detergent directly into the drum; there's a tray for that. During the process, the washing machine fills and drains water several times. This means the detergent will simply be washed out, with no results.
What if you add powder to any compartment?
Pouring laundry detergent into the wrong compartment of the detergent drawer is not a problem. The washing machine draws detergent from the designated area of the detergent drawer. For example, you poured detergent into the narrow section of the drawer designed for liquid detergent. The washing machine knows that this is where the fabric softener comes from, and it's added only during the rinse cycle. As a result, the dry detergent doesn't have time to rinse out, and your clothes will be contaminated with it.
If, on the contrary, you pour detergent into compartment II instead of compartment I during the pre-wash, the wash will be in vain. The stains will remain, as the amount of detergent is insufficient to thoroughly clean the items. The clothes will simply be rinsed in water several times without any noticeable effect.
By taking into account the specifics of using a washing machine, you can correct any mistakes made previously. The washing process may seem simple, but in reality, it has its own nuances. Wearing clothes with detergent residue can cause allergies, and they also look unsightly. Furthermore, using the drawer compartments correctly helps save energy, as you won't have to rewash your clothes multiple times.
