Where to put detergent in an Indesit washing machine
While hand washing is easy to do, this seemingly simple procedure can sometimes be challenging with an automatic washing machine. This is especially true if you're using a new model or are just getting started with an automatic washing machine. It's difficult to figure out: some recommend using a special compartment, others purchase special containers, and still others simply pour the detergent directly into the drum.
It's best not to experiment and follow the instructions: use the designated detergent drawer. Indesit washing machines also have a similar drawer, and before starting a new cycle, it's recommended to thoroughly examine the drawer's design. The information below will help you figure out where to pour and place what.
Purpose of the powder tray cells
Almost all Indesit washing machine powder drawers are similar. They pull out, are located on the left side of the top panel, and have three sections used for different detergents and wash cycles. It's easy to figure out which compartment to pour powder into and where to pour concentrate, if you follow the markings.
“I”, “1”, “A” – medium-sized compartment, which is intended for the pre-wash program.
"II", "2", "B/B" - the largest section used for the main modes.
“*” or a flower image – for fabric softeners, rinses and other fabric softening liquids.
The compartmentalization allows the machine to gradually add the required amount of detergent at each stage of the wash cycle. Therefore, pouring detergent directly onto the pile of laundry in the drum is not recommended. The idea that this method is cost-effective is a common myth, compounded by several negative aspects:
the powder is quickly washed out at the very beginning of the wash;
clothes often fade and get damaged (when a bunch of concentrated substances gets on the laundry dye);
the drum quickly becomes dirty (a large amount of washed-out powder settles on the inner walls).
These problems are easy to avoid: simply load and pour detergents into the machine correctly. Alternative solutions are only necessary in one case: if the detergent dispensed into the Indesit washing machine's drawer doesn't rinse out easily. In this case, you'll need to repair the detergent dispenser yourself or contact a service center. However, even if the drawer isn't working, you can still wash your clothes without risking your machine or laundry.
The machine does not take powder from the tray.
Yes, you can pour detergent into the washing machine drum, but don't rush – it's unsafe and wasteful. It's much more effective and less expensive to purchase a special dispenser, which is a plastic jar with multiple holes in the lid. This container is easy to fill, fits inside the machine, and is an ideal replacement for the detergent drawer, thanks to several advantages:
the laundry does not come into direct contact with cleaning chemicals, which protects the fabric from the negative effects of concentrates;
the scale on the jar helps to measure out the required amount of powder;
The holes dose the amount of detergent supplied to the water, allowing the powder to be evenly distributed throughout the entire washing cycle;
The drum remains clean due to the gradual dissolution of the product.
Important! No dispenser can completely replace a powder drawer and is used only as a temporary alternative. In a half-empty drum, the container creates additional noise and pressure as it contacts the walls and front glass at high speed.
In addition to powdered detergents, this container is also ideal for gels and conditioners. Therefore, it's perfectly acceptable to place two cups in the washing machine at once. Moreover, you can make your own: simply cut about ten different-sized holes in any plastic container.
There's a reason washing machines have a special drawer. Gradual addition, gentle rinsing, and careful cleaning all contribute to a high-quality and safe wash. Therefore, it's important to use the detergent drawer correctly and for its intended purpose, and if it breaks, don't delay repairs and have safe replacements on hand.
