Review of mini washing machines with spinners for summer cottages

washing machine for a summer houseA mini washing machine for a summer house with a spin function. It sounds a bit far-fetched. What kind of miniature washing machine is this, with a built-in spin function? It's certainly a very useful appliance, much appreciated by summer residents. However, let's not get ahead of ourselves; let's take it step by step.

What washing machines are we talking about?

It's important to define terminology here. In other words, we need to understand what kind of washing machines we're talking about. First, since a washing machine is called a mini, it must be relatively small, making it portable. Secondly, the washing machine we are interested in must operate independently of the water supply and sewerage system. Thirdly, such washing machines for a summer house should provide a full laundry care cycle. This means they should be equipped with:

  • washing;
  • rinsing;
  • wringing.

Activator washing machines are capable of spinning laundry if they have a separate tank where the centrifuge is located.

The main problem is the spin cycle, as there are plenty of compact washing machines for summer cottages that can operate without running water while still washing and rinsing clothes. We're not interested in such machines. We're only interested in those that can spin, and that's what we'll focus our review on.

Model overview

We forgot to mention that a country washing machine should also be relatively inexpensive. After all, few people buy expensive, compact laundry machines for their country houses, although, of course, all sorts of situations happen. A country washing machine is an affordable option, and we tried to adhere to this concept when compiling this review. Well, here it is.

The Assol HRV50-880S is an affordable Chinese-made agitator washing machine with a wash tub and a centrifuge. Although this washing machine can wash 5 kg of laundry at a time and spin 4 kg, its dimensions are quite modest: W x D x H – 69 x 40 x 84 cm. This washing machine is easily transported in a car and, if necessary, can be carried, as it weighs approximately 14 kg. The price of this machine ranges from $110 to $120.

Fairy mini washing machines are generally distinguished by their well-designed design, compact size, spaciousness, and, most importantly, low price. This model, in particular, costs only $75. The Leran XPB42-4288S is a Chinese dual-tank agitator washing machine with a wash and spin cycle. It has a wash load capacity of 4.2 kg and a spin cycle capacity of 3.5 kg. The spin speed reaches 1400 rpm, providing excellent spin results. The machine has mechanical controls and uses 35 liters of water per wash cycle. Water can be preheated in buckets and poured into the wash cycle. It's an excellent choice for a summer house. The machine's dimensions are also compact: W x D x H – 66 x 65 x 85 cm, and it weighs 16 kg. The average price is $108.

Fairy SMP60N. For those looking for a more capacious washing machine, consider the Fairy SMP60N. Its wash drum holds 6 kg of laundry, and the spin dryer holds 4.5 kg. Its dimensions (W x D x H) are 69 x 36 x 69 cm, the same as the SMP40, which is surprising in itself, and it weighs 15 kg. But the surprises don't end there. In addition to the standard washing program, this machine has a delicates mode, meaning you can even wash outerwear in this washing machine without any problems. The average price of the model is $120.

This model is perhaps the only one among activator models that has a mode for washing delicate fabrics.

The Slavda WS-80PET is another activator-powered washing machine with a large capacity. While it's certainly a stretch to call it compact, with dimensions of 82 x 47 x 90 cm (W x D x H), it weighs relatively little, around 16 kg (33 lbs), making it perfectly suitable for transporting to the country in a car. Its main advantage is its load capacity: it can wash 8 kg of laundry at a time and spin 6 kg (13 lbs). The washing machine spins clothes quite well, thanks to its centrifugal drum speed of 1350 rpm. The machine costs an average of $140.

Pros and cons of mini washing machines

Miniature washing machines for summer cottages have a significant number of advantages, making them popular not only among summer residents, but also among residents of private homes, seniors, bachelors, and many others. Just think about it:

  • This type of washing machine is completely independent of the presence or absence of running water and sewerage; you just fill it with a bucket of water and go ahead, wash as much as you like;
  • the dimensions of country washing machines are more or less modest, in any case, such a machine will fit into the trunk of a passenger car without any problems and there will still be quite a lot of space left;
  • These washing machines, despite their modest size, are quite capacious; some can wash up to 8 kg of laundry at once;
  • The machines included in our review also have a centrifuge, which allows you to not only wash and rinse your laundry, but also spin it thoroughly;
  • Mini cars are not only small in size, but also lightweight, which also makes them easy to transport to and from the country;
  • Mini cars have very easy and accessible controls, so even older people, who are usually very conservative and don't like modern technology, can figure them out.

These washing machines do have their drawbacks, though, depending on how you look at it. If you compare these machines to automatic washing machines, they're definitely inferior, but if you try to be more objective, you'll notice the following drawbacks.

  1. These washing machines have very few functions, which makes it impossible to wash delicate items in them, but there are exceptions.
  2. To wash clothes in such a machine, you have to be nearby. You need to add water, start the wash cycle, drain the used water, add clean water, and start the rinse cycle. Then you need to transfer the clothes to the centrifuge and spin them. All of this is quite inconvenient.
  3. You can't heat water in these machines, so you'll have to get a boiler, a regular water heater, or heat the water on a stove at your dacha. Heating water is an additional time investment.

In conclusion, miniature washing machines with an activator and a centrifuge for your summer house are an excellent solution if you want to wash clothes efficiently, even in camping conditions. Of course, these washing machines are significantly inferior in functionality to automatic machines, but that depends on your perspective. Happy choosing!

    The cars are a failure. There are imported versions like the Panda, without the two compartments.
