Bosch washing machine models – which one to choose?

Bosch washing machinesSmart home appliances are rapidly becoming a part of our lives; we can't imagine life without them. Bosch is one of the most popular and beloved brands among Russians. Bosch washing machines represent German quality, proven over decades.

At the same time, the price remains affordable for many consumers, unlike, say, German-made Miele machines. Let's consider the advantages of Bosch washing machines, any disadvantages, the model range, and which one is best.

Advantages and disadvantages

The popularity of Bosch washing machines stems from several advantages. Let's start with these:

  1. Bosch washing machines have a long service life, as stated by the manufacturer, and if you take proper care of the machine, this service life can be even longer;
  2. the parts used to assemble equipment of this brand are distinguished by their reliability;
  3. Bosch manufacturers make their machines economical in terms of both water and electricity consumption;
  4. washing machines of this brand have a variety of functions;
  5. Most Bosch washing machines, unlike those of competitors, are equipped with a complete leak protection system, as well as control over foam formation and drum imbalance;
  6. A wide range of models, the machines differ not only in functionality, but also in the way they load laundry (top and front), dimensions (standard and narrow), and installation method (freestanding and built-in).

Bosch washing machines are not without their drawbacks. These include the following:

  • Firstly, the price of these washing machines is somewhat high compared to competitors with the same set of functions, but the quality is worth it;
  • secondly, These machines are produced not only in Germany, but in many other countries, which negatively affects the quality of assembly, service center technicians note that machines imported from Germany are better than machines assembled in Russia;
  • thirdly, according to consumer reviews, Bosch machines are very noisy, but this does not affect the quality of washing;
  • Fourthly, in models with vertical loading of laundry, the parking function does not work correctly.

All washing machine models belong to a certain series. Each series differs from the other in terms of load capacity, implemented technologies and modern washing capabilities. At the beginning of 2016, Bosch washing machines are produced in the following series:

budget Bosch washing machines

  • The BOSCH WLG 24160 OE is a washing machine from the Maxx 5 series with electronic controls. Its slim design fits easily into bathrooms. The SpeedPerfect function reduces washing time by up to 60%. It has a maximum load capacity of 5 kg and a spin speed of 1200 rpm. It offers a wide range of modes—14. A complete safety system with a self-diagnosis system for faults is the advantage of this machine.For a small family, we recommend this model, as its average price is $361.50.
  • The Bosch WLK 24271 is a freestanding washing machine with a large drum that holds up to 7 kg of dry laundry. Its intuitive electronic controls allow you to choose from 15 washing programs, including baby clothes, jeans, and a soak cycle. This machine's unique features include a night mode, shirt program, and delicates program. A downside is that when spinning at 1200 rpm, it produces a noise level of 81 dB, which is quite loud and can be heard at night. However, it costs around $374.
  • The Bosch WLG 20240 is a narrow washing machine with a removable top lid for undercounter installation. It has a drum capacity of 5 kg of dry laundry and a spin speed of 1000 rpm. This model is similar in functionality to the previous model, but is slightly less expensive. The average price is $338.

Mid-range washing machines range in price from $260 to $600. Here are the best models in this class.

Bosch mid-range washing machines

  • The Bosch WLT 24460 is a washing machine with intelligent controls and touch buttons. It has a dry load capacity of 7 kg for cotton items. The drum rotates at 1200 rpm, resulting in a Class B spin rating. A notable feature is its energy efficiency, achieving a Class A+++ rating. There is a drawback - only partial protection from water leakage, and this at a cost of $477.
  • The BOSCH WOT 24455 OE is a top-loading washing machine with a load capacity of up to 6.5 kg. Compared to front-loading machines, this machine only has 8 wash modes. It also features a good spin cycle at 1200 rpm and an electronic display that provides all the necessary information. This Slovakian-assembled washing machine costs an average of $770.
  • The BOSCH WAW24440OE is a German-made washing machine with a capacity of up to 9 kg of dry laundry. This capacity allows you to wash not just two sets of bed linen but also a duvet or throw. It's a full-size machine with a large number of programs (16), including an Anti-Allergy function and a Bio-Phase mode. The functionality is decent, but for a price of $923, I'd have liked a drying mode, but it's missing.

Elite

The premium washing machine lineup includes machines priced over $600. Let's look at several well-known models and their features.

Bosch premium washing machines

The BOSCH WAY28742OE is a full-size washing machine with a 9 kg dry load capacity. It features a water level sensor, allowing it to select the optimal wash cycle. The machine has separate washing modes for shirts, curtains, blankets and towels, as well as an Anti-Allergy mode. A beautiful backlit digital display is eye-catching. This German-made unit, without a dryer, costs an average of $1,492, which we think is unjustified.

The Bosch WIS 28440 is a built-in full-size washing machine with a 7 kg capacity. A variety of programs and a high-speed spin cycle (1400 rpm) ensure high-quality washing. Complete leak protection, foam protection, and imbalance protection are advantages of this machine. The only drawback is probably the price, but you'll pay a bit more for a German-made machine, which costs around $1,145.

Please note: Built-in washing machines are significantly more expensive than similar freestanding models.

The BOSCH WVG30461OE is a front-loading washer-dryer with a capacity of up to 8 kg and a drying function for up to 4 kg. The drum spins at 1500 rpm for optimal spin results. The machine has a significant water consumption of 118 liters, which is quite significant. Energy consumption is also high, but that's understandable given the drying function. There are 16 washing modes. One more thing: this model is assembled in China, so it costs $1,230.

So, Bosch washing machines across various price categories don't have any distinctive design; they're mostly classic white with a red logo on the detergent drawer. Undoubtedly, German-assembled cars They're unrivaled in terms of reliability, but they're cheaper than machines from other manufacturers. But if you're looking for quality, you can confidently choose a washing machine from Germany.
