What's a nice way to cover a washing machine in the bathroom?
Clearly, the bathroom space in most apartments doesn't allow for the washing machine to be neatly hidden behind a screen or built into a niche. Everything has to be installed in a prominent location. But many are unwilling to accept this situation and begin to consider how to conceal the washing machine from view. Perhaps they could cover the washing machine in the bathroom with something attractive to give the interior a little more personality? This option is indeed possible, and we'll explore it in more detail below.
What do people cover their cars with?
While it's not true that a washing machine can completely ruin the look of a bathroom, when it clashes with the overall design, it can be a real nuisance. Installing a washing machine under a sink or countertop, or hiding it under a cabinet, simply isn't feasible. In this case, decorative washing machine covers can help. Online retailers offer a huge variety of options to suit every taste and color.
The covers look like capes made of various materials, decorated with embroidery, appliqué, and other decorative elements. Sometimes, even functional elements are used in this way, such as pockets for storing small items or household chemicals. Covers for front-loading and top-loading washing machines differ.
Please note: Top-loading washing machine covers have a round or rectangular flap on top that, when opened, allows access to the loading door.
As for covers for front-loading washing machines, they are divided into 2 types:
Those that literally slide over the washing machine, leaving the front panel open. This allows you to operate the washing machine without removing the cover;
These are covers that fit over the washing machine and cover all its edges except the bottom. The downside of these covers is that you have to remove them every time you wash clothes. However, the advantage is that the machine is completely hidden from view.
Another very significant disadvantage of washing machine covers that completely cover it is the slow removal of moisture. According to the instructions for use, the cover should only be put on the car after it has been perfectly ventilated and dried inside after washing. Otherwise, unextracted moisture will accumulate in the body and promote mold growth. Cover manufacturers have attempted to solve this problem by introducing a valve that opens the front wall of the washing machine, but moisture evaporation is still much slower than with washing machines without covers.
You can replace the cover with a regular cape or oilcloth if you can find a print that matches your interior and doesn't look tasteless.
Pedestal made of laminated MDF
This type of cabinet will look much more attractive in your bathroom than a cover, as you can choose the color and texture to match the overall color scheme and design of your bathroom. Furthermore, a cabinet consisting of a lid and two sides will perfectly conceal your washing machine and won't take up much space—you'll only need a few extra centimeters on each side. Especially resourceful users can even create a lid at the front, creating a small cabinet for the washing machine.
In both appearance and functionality, a cover is significantly inferior to a full-fledged furniture front, so if you have the money and time, an MDF cabinet will be an excellent way to hide a washing machine in a bathroom or even a kitchen.
