Review of tabletop dishwashers
Countertop dishwashers are a type of small dishwasher, also known as compact. They are quite popular among those who don't know where to place the dishwasher in the limited space of a small kitchen. As the name suggests, they can be placed directly on the counter, or in a corner, out of the way. This is not the only feature of these dishwashers, so we'll provide a detailed overview.
Capabilities and dimensions of a tabletop dishwasher
Countertop dishwashers are considered the smallest of all compact models. Their external dimensions (height, width, and depth) are 55, 45, and 55 cm, respectively. However, models of this size are currently temporarily unavailable. The model range is mainly represented by dishwashers with a width of at least 55 cm, a height of 45 cm and a depth of 50 to 55 cm.
That said, these machines have a capacity of up to 6 standard place settings, which is quite good for 1-2 people. This is just enough to wash a day's worth of dishes. Larger families will need to run the machine more frequently.
As for functionality, they usually have 5-6 built-in washing modes, which include the following:
- intensive for very dirty dishes (washes at 700WITH);
- normal program (or normal - washes dishes at 60-650WITH);
- express mode (fast at 40-450WITH);
- economical (washes at 500WITH);
- soaking and pre-rinsing.
Some models (including German Bosch models) have a delicate mode suitable for washing any glass and crystal.
How much and what does it consume – are there any savings?
Let's start with water consumption. Although a tabletop dishwasher is small, it uses the same amount of water compared to some larger machines. Water consumption in such machines does not exceed 9 liters, but in general they consume 7-8 liters, but there are also machines that consume 6 liters of water.
With such consumption, even with the most modest calculations, the machine helps save up to 8 cubic meters of hot water, plus savings on cold water.
Energy consumption on average varies from 0.61 kW/h to 0.8 kW/h, but there are some units, such as the compact dishwasher Exiteq EXDW-T501, which consumes only 0.25 kW/h. Electricity costs will average around 70 kW per year, which is not much. However, you will also have to spend money on dishwashing detergents and salt. How expensive your dishwasher will be to operate will depend primarily on the cost of your detergents. But even with these expenses, you'll be happy that your small dishwasher, not you, will be the one doing the washing.
Security and Technology
The safety of a dishwasher depends on whether it has a leakage protection system. Such a protection system, such as Aqua Stop or Waterproof, is considered complete, but There are dishwashers with partial protection; unfortunately, there are more of them among tabletop dishwashers.
Another important option is a child safety lock, which protects the dishwasher from children and children from the dishwasher. Unfortunately, not all compact dishwashers have this feature. Furthermore, modern models incorporate various technologies, such as a sensor system that detects the degree of contamination of the water. The machine adjusts the wash cycle and temperature accordingly, reducing water and detergent consumption.
Many models feature a detergent sensor, which allows for the "3-in-1" feature. A compact dishwasher with this feature recognizes the detergent type and adjusts the program accordingly. A delayed start feature makes operation even more convenient, allowing you to run the machine overnight.
The dishwasher's noise reduction technology deserves special mention. It utilizes EcoSilence Drive inverter motors. With this technology, noise levels range from 39 to 47 dB. Noisy dishwashers typically operate at 47-55 dB.

Undoubtedly, the most popular compact dishwashers are from Bosch, which offers about 10 tabletop models.
