The Indesit washing machine does not work and does not start.
Italian washing machines are known as some of the most reliable. But finding a truly Italian machine is rare; for example, Indesit is assembled in Russia. Even a machine made from high-quality parts can break down, and there are a number of reasons why.

Causes of failure and their symptoms
There are various reasons why an Indesit washing machine may break down. These include owner neglect, manufacturing defects, power surges, and wear and tear of parts over time. However, if certain symptoms occur in a particular case, you can limit your troubleshooting if you know those symptoms. If the machine turns on, but you cannot start any of the washing modes, then it is possible that:
- the water supply tap is not open;
- the filling valve is blocked;
- the device blocking the hatch door is faulty;
- the engine burned out;
- The electronic module is broken.
The first reason doesn't even need to be described; it can be resolved on your own. You just need to be careful before starting the wash cycle. The four remaining causes are more serious, but some of them are quite resolvable on your own. We'll explain what to do next.

We are replacing the inlet valve
A broken fill valve can manifest itself in different ways. It may be difficult to wash out the detergent or conditioner from the detergent drawer, it may take a long time to fill with water, or the washing program may not start at all.
To check the valve, disconnect the washing machine from all power sources and turn it so the back is facing you. Then, unscrew the inlet hose, behind which the valve is located. To remove it, remove the top cover.
The old valve in Indesit machines needs to be replaced with a similar one, which can be purchased at any online store.
Then we disconnect the wires from the valve and unscrew it from the powder receptacle. We install a new, original valve in its place. Before replacing, you can check the valve coils for proper operation using a multimeter. If the resistance reading is 2-4 kOhm, the device is working.
How to repair a door lock
Most often, any washing machine, including Indesit, won't start if the door isn't properly closed. All machines are equipped with a door lock that prevents the machine from being accidentally opened during a wash cycle.

Engine check
If the motor fails, an Indesit washing machine may also fail to cycle. However, water may still build up, depending on the specific model. Motors in machines rarely fail, and if they do, it's usually the brushes, or more precisely, the brushes wear out over time. It is quite difficult to determine what happened to the engine without disassembling the car. But if there is extraneous noise, smoke or sparks, then there is a problem that needs to be addressed immediately.
So, we carry out the following work:
- We place the machine so as to provide access to the rear part.
- We remove the service cover by unscrewing the screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
- We remove the belt from the pulley and the engine.
- Using an 8 mm wrench, unscrew the bolts that secure the engine.
- We disconnect all the connectors with wires.
- Pulling the engine towards ourselves, we remove it from the holders and take it out of the car.
- We locate the brushes on the engine, inspect them, and replace them if they are worn. To do this, disconnect the terminals and wires from the brushes, then unscrew the retaining elements. Once the brushes are removed, carefully install the new ones in their place.
- We assemble the car.
If the motor won't start because the brushes aren't the issue, it's likely that the winding has burned out. Again, this is very rare. In such cases, a complete engine replacement may not be practical due to the high cost of this spare part.
Repair or replacement of the board
The final reason why no washing program will start is a faulty control board, most often caused by a sudden power surge. If something goes wrong with the machine's "electronic brain," the signal to select a program is not received, and therefore no signal is sent to the valve, motor, or other components.
In this case, two options are possible: repairing the board or replacing it completely. Replacing the module with a new one is undoubtedly much easier than repairing it. The key to replacing the wires is to connect them correctly. To do this, it's best to take a photo of the correct connection and then connect everything in order.
The problem is that a new module is very expensive, just like buying a new machine, so it's tempting to repair it rather than replace it. But that requires knowledge of electrical and electronics. You'll need to find the faulty component (triac, capacitor, etc.) on the board and resolder it. Is it easy?
