The Vyatka washing machine does not turn on.
Vyatka "home helpers" are renowned for their longevity, so even after 40 years, many are in no rush to throw their appliances in the trash. But what should you do if your Vyatka washing machine won't turn on? Considering that the machine can last another 10 years after repair, it's more logical to repair it than to replace it with a new, modern unit of unknown quality. Vyatka washing machines are simple in design, so any owner of this "miracle of Soviet engineering" can handle their repair. This article describes the possible causes of failure and how to fix them.
We will eliminate problems with the socket, plug, and power cord.
The first thing to check is the functionality of the outlet the washing machine is plugged into. It's often the outlet that fails, not the appliance itself, which was manufactured in 1981. If the outlet is working, check the plug and cord. To do this, unplug the plug and feel it to see if it's overheating. There are several possible causes of the power cord plug becoming excessively hot.
- The wiring and the mechanism components are making very poor contact. In this case, the plug or cord must be replaced entirely, as Vyatka appliance plugs are difficult to disassemble.

- The contacts are of good quality, but have suffered from oxidation and poor conductivity. And again, due to the plug's non-detachable design, the entire plug will have to be replaced, as simply stripping the wires won't work.
- The wire is pinched or broken under the insulation.
Each of the problems described can be solved by purchasing a new cable. You simply need to unsolder the damaged cable from the network capacitor located inside the device's housing and solder a new one in its place.
You don't need to look for a cord from a Vyatka appliance; it's enough to find a cord from a new washing machine. So, you can easily find the necessary part at any store that sells spare parts for household appliances.
It's a little more difficult to solve the problem yourself if the problem is in the "Start" button or in the washing machine's door lock, but it's still possible. Also, don't discount the network capacitor, which can also be tested.
Either the Start button or the UBL
When the Vyatka lock stops working, you need to check the operation of the door lock and the two-pole "Start" button. First, let's test the lock mechanism. To do this, follow the instructions.
- Disconnect the machine from the power supply before performing this procedure.
- Remove the drum rubber and then pull out the hatch lock.

- Short-circuit terminals 3L and 1C and contacts C and L together.

- Now start the equipment and test whether the hatch opens.
If after all these manipulations nothing has changed, then the problem lies in the power button. As for the hatch lock, if this device is faulty and you can't find a similar part in the store, you can short-circuit the above terminals, insulate all the contacts, and then reinstall the hatch lock. In this case, the electronic lock will stop working, and the Vyatka washing machine will only have a functioning mechanical latch.
But if the fault is caused by the "Start" button, it will need to be replaced. The original part is just as difficult to find as the original door lock, so don't worry if you can't find an equivalent. Then you can find the faulty pole using a dial test.
All you need to do is find the correct pole, short-circuit its terminals, and insulate the contact. This will cause the washing machine to start with one pole. For your convenience, run the wiring to a single-pole button you don't need. If you do this, the washing machine will start when you press that button. This completes the repair.
