Electrolux washing machine malfunctions

Electrolux appliances are assembled in many countries. Despite sharing the same internal components, devices within the same model range can behave differently. Initially, we wanted to focus on potential problems with this manufacturer's machines in general. However, as we gathered information, it became clear that we needed to examine the malfunctions of Electrolux washing machines assembled in Poland and Russia in more detail.

The most common breakdowns

Appliances manufactured in Russia and Poland have many similarities, so the causes of breakdowns are often similar. The machines share the same weak points. In principle, anything can break down in Russian appliances at any time. However, there are some faults that are common in Electrolux appliances manufactured in both Russia and Poland.

1. The door locking mechanism is malfunctioning. It either doesn't open at the end of the wash cycle or doesn't close before starting the machine.
2. The water does not heat up, or the system responsible for heating it is functioning intermittently.
3. The self-diagnostic system periodically triggers spontaneously. Various error codes appear on the frozen device's screen, even though there are no actual problems and no repairs are required.
4. The water in the tank is not drained.

These malfunctions in Polish and Russian Electrolux machines are so common that they can be considered the bane of this technology. The causes are simple: manufacturers use low-quality locking mechanisms and heating elements. Furthermore, the companies in question don't devote enough time to testing the devices, and problems with the control module firmware can cause the washing machine to malfunction.

There is no water heating

If the water in your Electrolux washing machine stops heating during a wash cycle, the problem is most likely a faulty heating element. Russian and Polish manufacturers install inexpensive Chinese heating elements. In most cases, these last no more than two years. Machines from previous decades were equipped with high-quality, durable components. Models from the early 2000s still work without a hitch, and the original heating elements look almost like new.

Common problems with heating elements are most often caused by harsh operating conditions. Heating elements are at risk of failure if the pipes contain very hard water, and the user frequently washes clothes at the highest temperatures. In such cases, it is necessary to conduct a thorough diagnostic of the element and replace it if a problem is detected.

To check the heating element, use a multimeter. Remove the front panel of the machine. The heating element is located directly above the loading door. Carefully remove the wires and inspect the element for any holes. After unscrewing the bolts, the heating element can be easily removed from its recess.

After unscrewing the temperature sensor, set it aside. The faulty heating element is disposed of and a new one is installed in its place. Replace the front panel and all bolts, then test the washing machine. If the unit works, the DIY repair is successful.

Short-term failures

Polish and Russian Electrolux washing machines sometimes experience control module firmware failure. The symptoms can be varied, so even experienced technicians can't always identify the cause. Most often, this type of malfunction triggers error codes. The device may operate normally, then suddenly freeze and display an error, each time displaying a different error code.

When an error occurs, the washing machine stops washing, rinsing, or spinning. No action will resume the interrupted cycle. The only solution is to completely unplug the machine and restart it after a short while. However, the machine will eventually start displaying errors again.

Important! If the control module fails, only a highly qualified technician with specialized knowledge can help; repairing the equipment yourself is unlikely.

The door is moping

If you're having trouble opening or closing the door, check the door lock (door lock) and the locking mechanism. The door lock (door lock) breaks quite often. The only solution is to replace it completely.

The locking mechanism fails much less frequently. Sometimes the lever breaks or the spring pops out. In these cases, you can fix the problem yourself; all the necessary components are available online or in washing machine repair stores.
