Atlant washing machine malfunctions
Reasonable prices and decent quality have made Belarusian washing machines quite popular. A three-year warranty on the appliance includes free repairs. But what if the warranty has long expired and the problem is still evident? In this case, you need to assess the problem yourself, which we can help you do. Then, decide whether to contact a repairman or handle the repairs yourself.
Common malfunctions and their causes
Let's start with the fact that, according to statistics, Atlant washing machine breakdowns due to manufacturing defects are extremely rare, occurring in 2-3% of cases. In most cases, the washing machine's performance is impaired due to:
- water quality;
- foreign, small objects getting into the drum;
- excess powder or other detergent;
- wear of parts.
Simply put, if you violate the operating rules of your washing machine and do not provide proper maintenance, the likelihood of it breaking down quickly increases. A variety of problems can arise, primarily wear and tear of parts such as:
- heating element;
- tank bearings;
- drain pump.
Another common problem with this brand of washing machine, noted by experts, is the door lock jamming.
The consequences of a breakdown in any of these components can vary widely, including leaks, the machine freezing with a full tank, and poor wash results. Any problem needs to be resolved promptly, not delayed, as this will make matters worse and complicate the repair. In most cases, you can find out about the malfunction of a particular part of the unit by error code on the display, this will reduce the search time.
Replacing the pump and heater
If there's water in the machine and no sound from the motor, the most likely cause is a broken pump. Replacing it is quite simple. In Atlant washing machines, this is done through the bottom. Follow these steps:
- we drain all the water from the tank through the filter at the bottom of the machine;

- we take out the tray for powder and conditioner;
- turn the washing machine over onto its left side;
- if there is one, unscrew the bottom of the machine;
- unscrew the pump, it is usually held by 3 screws;
- disconnect the wires and the pipe;
- we take a new Askoll type pump and connect the pipe and wires to it;
- we secure the pump itself;
- We connect the machine to the utilities.
Replacing the heating element can also be done by yourself. In most Atlant washing machine models, the heating element is located at the rear, under the drum. Therefore, disassembling the machine will require minimal effort, only removing the rear panel. Before removing the heating element from its seat, you need to disconnect the sensor and wires, and also loosen the retaining bolt. Only then, using a rocking motion, pull the part toward you. After clearing the area under the heating element of any dirt, you can install the new one, performing all the steps in reverse order.
Note! Sometimes the heating element is very difficult to remove from the connector, so you'll have to apply some force. You can use WD-40 to soften the rust.
Problem with the door lock
If the door doesn't close tightly, the washing machine simply won't turn on and won't start washing. There could be several reasons for this:
- the locking device has worn out due to long-term use;
- the door was not closed carefully and slammed, which led to a defect;
- a foreign body or small object got into the lock hole.

If the cause of the breakdown is not debris, then in all other cases, it is best to replace the door lock, or more precisely, replace the locking device. To do this, move the cuff slightly away from the locking device, unscrew the screws holding the part in place, and disconnect the wires. Then remove the device and install the new one in its place.
Bearing wear
Replacing bearings in a washing machine is considered a complex repair. Replacing them yourself isn't easy if you're doing it for the first time. However, it can be done if you take your time and have the desire to get the job done. The bearings are located in the drum, so removing them requires disassembling almost the entire washing machine. We've already described the entire process in this article. How to change a bearing in an Atlant washing machine, so we won't repeat ourselves.
So, the faults we've listed are the most common. They can easily be fixed on your own. Of course, the control board could burn out, but in that case, it's best to contact a professional if you're not one. Happy repairing!
