Beko washing machine malfunctions and repairs
Many consumers note the reliability of washing machines manufactured 10-15 years ago. However, even these machines have a limited lifespan, and eventually they break down. Repairing Beko, Indesit, Ariston, and other brands of washing machines isn't always worth it, forcing you to buy a new one.
But in some cases, the problem isn't so serious and can be fixed at home, thereby extending the life of your beloved "home helper." That's why in this article, we'll discuss common Beko washing machine problems and repairs.
"Symptoms" of malfunctions of machines of this brand
Experienced washing machine repair specialists can, by simply examining the machine's operation, determine which component or element is broken or about to break and needs repair. It would seem that if your machine is having problems, you should call a specialist from a service center, and they'll figure out the cause of the problem and, if you're lucky, fix it on the spot. It's quick, easy, and hassle-free, and most importantly, in some cases, such a step is entirely justified.
But there is one “but” here: calling a repairman and his repair services cost money, and quite a lot of it. It often happens that repair services cost more than the actual cost of the Beko automatic washing machine and machines of other brands. It's a shame to spend so much money on old junk, especially if you can't afford a new machine quickly. The only solution is to try to fix the problem yourself. But to do this, you need to correctly identify the problem, which can be helped by the symptoms of Beko washing machine malfunctions.
- The water does not heat up and the wash takes place in cold water, or the water, on the contrary, heats up very much, not in accordance with the temperature set by the user.
- It takes a very long time for water to fill the tank, or it doesn’t fill at all.
- The hatch does not close completely and because of this the wash does not start.
- After the wash cycle is complete, the water does not drain and this is accompanied (or not accompanied) by a loud humming sound.
- The drum of the Beko washing machine rotates with loud grinding, clanking and other extraneous sounds.
- It is not possible to start any washing program, because after turning on the machine all the lights blink, or the program is set, but does not start.
- The machine does not turn on with the button, although the power cord is plugged into the socket.
- The Beko machine, which has a display, displays an error code and “refuses” to work.
Please note! There may be more malfunction symptoms, but the ones mentioned above are the ones most commonly encountered.
Typical causes of breakdowns and their characteristics
As we noted above, washing machine malfunctions reveal themselves through external "symptoms" of improper operation or even complete failure. But the problem is, how can these symptoms be linked to a specific malfunction? This is where some knowledge and expert advice are required, so let's outline them.
If you see that the wash is running in cold water, even though the program says that the water should be warm or hot – This may indicate a breakdown of the heating element or control board. The same conclusions can be made if the water is constantly overheated, that is, the user sets the temperature to 30 0C, and the system brings it almost to a boil. If the water overheats, the likelihood of a faulty control board is even greater than that of a faulty heating element, but both components need to be checked.
When the washing program starts, the machine should begin filling the drum with water. This occurs at varying speeds, depending on the program selected. To see the filling process, simply look through the door window. However, if you see 20-30, or even 40 minutes pass, the drum slowly spins, and no water enters the drum, or the machine freezes, stopping the program and displaying an error code. There are four possible causes:
- there is no water in the water supply system - this fact can be easily verified by opening any tap;
- the water filter located at the base of the inlet hose (if there is one) is clogged, and therefore water does not flow into the machine;
- the fill valve is broken;
- The control unit element is faulty.
The Beko automatic washing machine is designed in such a way that it will not start the washing program until the door is completely closed and the locking device sensor sends a corresponding signal to the control board. If the door does not close, or seems to be closed, but the washing program still does not activate, it means that either the locking device is broken and does not hold the door, because of this the sensor cannot work, or the sensor itself is broken.
Please note: If you experience a problem with the door locking mechanism, try gently pressing down on the door with your knee and restarting the wash cycle. It's possible the locking hook simply isn't fully engaged and isn't locking.
After the wash cycle is complete, the washing machine should drain the soapy water and fill with fresh water for the rinse cycle. This process is accompanied by a humming sound from the drain pump. The water drains fairly quickly, after which the machine begins to fill with clean water. If the machine fails to drain after a long period of time and then freezes, or if it tries to drain, the pump hums, but no water drains, the problem may be:
- in the pump;
- in the control board;
- in a clogged drain hose or sewer.
If the machine is very noisy, the drum rotates with a terrible clanking, grinding and knocking, it is very possible that the bearings have broken. Or perhaps a foreign metal object has gotten into the tank, become lodged between its wall and the drum wall, and is jamming. This type of malfunction requires immediate shutdown of the machine and corrective action.
The machine may also fail to turn on at all, or start flashing all the lights after being turned on. This happens repeatedly, and turning the machine on and off repeatedly has no effect. In this case, it could be:
- the on/off button of the washing machine is broken;
- the control unit breaks down;
- the network cable will break.
It's best if a Beko washing machine with a display doesn't simply freeze, but displays a system error code. The manufacturer provides error codes so users can identify the problem without calling a technician. The description and interpretation of these codes are presented in the table below.

Is it possible to fix the problem yourself?
In theory, all Beko automatic washing machines can be repaired, regardless of their drum capacity, age, or whether their control panels have displays. However, in practice, problems often arise: either repairs are impossible to do yourself, or they are too expensive, or the right parts are not readily available. In any case, if you find a problem and decide to repair it yourself, you need to consider these factors to avoid ending up with a waste of time and money.
Important! For example, replacing washing machine bearings can sometimes take a specialist hours. Consider how long it will take you to complete the job, if you can even do it correctly.
Experts strongly recommend undertaking only the simplest repairs, which, for example, involve either replacing components or clearing blockages. It's best to leave the rest to the professionals, as there's a risk of damaging something, which will only lead to unnecessary expenses. So, which common problems can you fix yourself?
- Clean the drain filter, removing any debris and dirt that may interfere with the normal operation of the machine.
- Replace the drain pump, but only if you are sure that the old one is out of order.
- Check and replace the intake valveTo do this, you will also need to make sure that the problem is not with the control board.
- Replace the heating element.
The heating element in Beko washing machines fails quite often, especially, for some reason, on domestically produced models with a 6 kg load capacity. Replacing it yourself is easy; the main thing is to follow these steps in accordance with expert recommendations.
- The heating element in Beko washing machines is located at the rear of the tank, so the first thing we do is remove the rear wall by unscrewing a few bolts.
- Having removed the wall, we see a large round wheel - this is a pulley, a little lower, two large contacts stick out of the tank - this is a heating element.
- We take a suitable key and unscrew the fastening element holding the heating element, disconnect the wires from the contacts.
- Carefully, but with force, pull the heating element out of the groove.
- We purchase the same heating element and continue working.
- Carefully insert the new heating element into the groove and screw it on.
- We connect the wires to the contacts, put the back wall of the machine back in place and check the operation of the new element.

In summary, Beko washing machines are generally quite reliable; however, like other appliances, they do break down. Calling a specialist is expensive, so it should only be done if the problem is complex. Otherwise, you can try to save money by doing the repairs yourself.

The German-made Beko machine worked for 10.5 years, and only 8.5 years ago the programming unit was replaced under warranty.
VEKO has been operating since 2009.
I've had a Beko since 2004, but an accident broke the latch on the door that locks the hatch. It broke off. Where do I start and where can I buy one (region 116)?
The Veko has been working since 2006. It's a manual. I replaced the brushes in 2016. Now it's not draining.
Could you please tell me? My washing machine won't start. The start light keeps blinking and shows 26 minutes left, even though it's not washing. What's wrong?
My BEKO washing machine only works in rinse and spin mode. What should I do? I reset the program, and that helps.
I've had VEKO since 2007. Today, the display shows 1 minute, but the power button shows a pause. What should I do?
Beko has a push-button machine. The light is on. The buttons work, but it doesn't spin. It might not work for a day, but then it might wash. I don't know what to do.
When selecting any program, my Beko wml 15060 kl washing machine starts the spin cycle for one spin and then stops. After a while, without disconnecting the power, it starts the spin cycle again. Neither the pump nor any other program works. What could be the cause?
All breakdowns and failures due to clogged drains from laundry lint are an Axiom!!!
SM Beko - 11 years old, the heating element burned out, replaced the brushes, 1 bearing, oil seal, and power button.
PMM Beko - 11 years old, the firmware of the system module crashed, 1 relay burned out.
Somehow it all came together.
Beko refrigerator is 10 years old. The back chamber where the evaporator is swollen. Threw it out.
I've had a Beko SM since 2001, where voltage surges from 140 to 260 are almost daily. I replaced the drain filter, but today the pump broke down, so I'm trying to restore the machine. I'm probably not going to find anything of this quality again.
I need to replace the heating element. But which one should I buy? Where can I find the brand, model, and wattage of the part? Different websites have different information. I have a Veko WKD 24500T.
The mode selector knob turns with difficulty and makes a grinding noise.
The machine bounces around the bathroom during the rinse and spin cycle. What could be the problem?
The problem is in the tachometer sensor, which is located on the engine axis.
Most likely, the tachometer magnet is damaged. I removed the white cover and found pieces of the magnet. I collected them and glued them back to the motor rotor with superglue. Then I sanded it down so as not to touch the sensor itself.
The drum fell.
Racks.
Hi. My washing machine is 15 years old. It fills, heats, and pumps out water, but the drum has stopped spinning.
What should I do if my Beko washing machine starts filling with water and immediately shows the end of the wash cycle?
If the power button is mechanical, the contacts may burn out and cause the machine to act up, turning off before the wash cycle is complete. I just fixed this issue.
We bought the car in 1999. Water is leaking from the bottom, and I can't figure out where it's coming from. It's definitely not from the hoses.
Possible cause: drum bearing.
My Beko washing machine isn't rinsing out the detergent well. What's wrong?
I had the same problem. It's because the water isn't flowing well into the container. You need to clean the filter that's on the water inlet (it's located where the hose attaches to the back panel).
Either the water pressure is low, or the filter at the water inlet to the washing machine is clogged, or the drain holes in the powder compartment are clogged!
Hello. I have an older Beko washing machine. It stopped working. I removed the cover and the wires on the button were charred in one spot. Is it possible to connect them directly without the button? If so, how? Thank you in advance for your reply.
Hello. I have a BEKO WMN 6358SE. I took it apart yesterday to clean it. I finished everything and put it back together. It works, but the water flows into the wrong compartment of the detergent drawer (the far right one during both the wash and rinse cycles with fabric softener). Could you tell me what could be causing this?
Hello, I have a BEKO 6 kg washing machine without a display, it's six months old. It's stopped filling with water, but it still washes. And the water isn't draining during the spin cycle.
Change the pump (drain motor).
The SM VEKO washes well, but half an hour before the end of the cycle, it stops. The display shows an upside-down tap. I then set it to just rinse mode, and it finishes washing. What could be wrong?
SM BEKO extra rinse light is on and the starter does not turn on.
Good afternoon. I have a BEKO washing machine for about 15 years. The screen is working, the indicator light is blinking, and there's an "e" next to it. It doesn't respond to the wash cycle. What should I do?
Good afternoon. I have a VEKO washing machine. I turned it on, filled it with water, and it started working. After half an hour, it stopped, doesn't drain, and doesn't respond to commands. I unplugged it, and then plugged it back in, the same thing happened. Could you tell me what to do? The machine doesn't have a display.
Good evening. Could you please advise? I replaced the heating element, and immediately the detergent drawer clogged, the water inlet tube came off, and the entire machine flooded. I removed the lid, disconnected the panel (the dryer is attached), and let it sit for a day to dry. After it dried, I reassembled it, and now it's constantly flooding during the wash cycle. You can't see any water in it; the clothes are just very wet, so it doesn't heat up.
I can't start any washing program because the machine blinks after turning on.
Good evening! I have a problem: I bought a Beko WUE6511XWW washing machine a month ago, and now I'm upset. I noticed the drum is banging against the back wall. I tried to see if it was dangling from the sides, but it didn't seem to be dangling and it's not making any noise. It's level. Could you please tell me what this could be? And what should I do? Thank you very much.
Check the level; it could be crooked. We've encountered this before. Maybe the floor itself isn't level…
Sincerely.
Friends: a computer without a monitor makes noise. A washing machine without a display lights up its buttons. Computer errors are detected by the sound. Look at the lights on your washing machine; there should be something on the internet about the indicator lights.
We bought a Beko washing machine yesterday, and it smells like plastic when washing. Is this normal, or should I call a technician?
Is it possible to find a counterweight (stone) for the BekoWMN6350se?
The BEKO 6005 N5 washing machine does not turn on.
