Dishwasher Capsules Review

dishwasher capsulesDetergent manufacturers are constantly working to develop and market the most effective and safe dishwasher detergents. One of these latest innovations is automatic dishwashing capsules (Finish, Fairy, and others). What are these special products and how do you use them? We'll discuss this and many other questions in this article.

What are the benefits of capsules?

Let's begin by discussing the differences between dishwasher capsules and tablets. Some experts believe there's no difference, and that there's no point in distinguishing between the two products, as they operate on roughly the same principle. We strongly disagree with this assertion and provide the following evidence to support this view.dishwasher capsules

  1. Capsules (Finish, Fairy and others), unlike tablets, are covered with a soluble shell, which means that the components of the product are gradually introduced into the washing process.
  2. The shape of the capsule components differs from the shape of the tablet components, which again ensures their best gradual dissolution throughout the entire washing cycle.
  3. Using capsules (Finish, Fairy, and others) is more convenient because they do not require unpacking, and the components of the product do not come into contact with the user's fingers and do not cause irritation or allergies.

Essentially, capsules are a specially mixed mixture of salt, rinse aid and detergent, enclosed in a special shell. Some users believe that if they spend the money on capsules, they don't need any other products. This isn't true. To avoid damaging your dishwasher, you'll need at least some salt, which should be poured into the reservoir at the bottom of the washing chamber. The salt contained in the capsules is definitely not enough to ensure the proper functioning of the ion exchanger.

Please note! The main advantage of dishwasher capsules is that they almost completely replace detergent and rinse aid, and partially replace salt.

How to use capsules?

Before purchasing dishwasher capsules (Finish, Fairy, and others), every user should be sure that their "iron assistant" is capable of recognizing these capsules. The thing is, putting the capsules in a regular dishwasher won't do much good, because the whole point is to gradually dissolve the capsule during the wash cycle, and only a special program can do that. Check your dishwasher's instructions. If it says it can recognize tablets, then capsules can be used without any risk.How does the capsule work?

Which capsules are best to buy? We'll answer this question in the next section, but for now, let's talk about using the capsules correctly. Using dishwasher capsules is very easy:

  • open the box and take out one capsule;
  • open the dishwasher door and then open the tablet compartment located in the detergent drawer;
  • Without removing the polymer shell from the capsule, place it in the tablet compartment, close it, close the machine door and start the washing program.

Some users, sharing their experiences, report placing the capsules directly in the basket along with the dishes. This is not the best approach, as the capsule will dissolve almost immediately, the rinse aid will mix with the detergent, and the dishes will not achieve the desired shine.

Important! The main drawback of capsules (Finish, Fairy, and others) is that you always use the same amount of detergent. Unlike powder detergent, which can be overused, or tablets, which can be cut, you can't reduce the amount.

Types of similar products

Taking the position that capsules and tablets are not the same thing, we reviewed this type of detergent. We tried to select the most popular and effective capsules for inclusion in our review, and here's the result.

Fairy all-in dishwasher capsules. These innovative capsules are produced under a well-known brand. They are packaged in convenient zip-lock bags of 39 or 65 capsules. The original product is made in Belgium. The average price for a 65-pack is $12, and for 39 packs, $7. Fairy capsules contain a unique combination of ingredients, including phosphonates, bleach, enzymes, and other active ingredients.

The contents of the Fairy capsule are actively expanding:dishwasher capsules

  • with fat (either fresh or dried);
  • with lipstick stains;
  • with stains of dried dye;
  • with a tea and coffee flavor;
  • with dried dough and buckwheat.

Fairy dishwasher capsules work well at a washing temperature of 30 0Even in cold water. The manufacturer does not recommend handling Fairy capsules if your hands are wet, as the shell may begin to dissolve before it reaches the dishwasher. Fairy capsules have pronounced protective properties.

  1. They provide protection for machines against scale.
  2. Protect glass and silver from damage.
  3. They protect the surfaces of painted dishes from scratches because they do not contain abrasive substances..

Dreft Dishwasher Capsules. These unique capsules contain powder and three types of gel. Each component dissolves at its own pace, providing incredibly effective dishwashing. Dreft capsules are made in Germany. The average price is $11 per pack of 90. Dreft capsules are very similar in performance to Fairy capsules, so we won't repeat them.

Paclan Brileo are simple dishwasher capsules containing detergent gel and rinse aid. They don't contain any protective agents against corrosion or mold, nor do they contain any additives, but they clean dishes well without damaging them. The price is a bit high for such simple capsules—an average of $4.50 for a pack of 20. But that's their only drawback; otherwise, they're a very decent product. Among the advantages of Paclan Brileo is the presence of anti-scale agents. Made in Belgium.

There's a common misconception that Finish dishwasher capsules are the best. We thought so too, but after a closer look, we came to the conclusion that everything produced under the Finish brand (which looks like capsules) is actually tablets. Finish capsules do not exist yet, they may appear in the near future, but for now only tablets are available. This does not mean that Finish dishwasher tablets They are worse in some ways than capsules from other manufacturers, but their properties are slightly different.

FYI! Finish even produces tablets with a water-soluble coating, but the manufacturer positions these as tablets, not capsules, although the user doesn't really care, as long as they wash dishes.

In conclusion, dishwasher capsules are a unique product, differing somewhat from tablets and significantly from powder and other cleaning chemicals. Few companies currently produce these capsules, and demand for them is significantly lower than for powder or tablets. This may change over time, but for now, dishwasher capsules are a novelty.
