12-Place Dishwasher Review
12-placeholder dishwashers are the most common choice in modern homes. These full-size appliances are capable of washing all the dishes left after a noisy dinner party in one go. Housewives love them because they don't require hand washing, which is why they're so popular. We've decided to dedicate today's article to these remarkable dishwashers. The lion's share of the publication will be devoted to a review of the most popular 12-placeholder dishwashers; don't miss out!
Advantages of full-size models
The dishwasher market is oversaturated today. Consumers are literally overwhelmed by the abundance of models from a wide variety of manufacturers. Machines vary in functionality and quality, but consumers are more likely to choose machines with baskets that hold 12 place settings. Why?
- A full-size machine can wash dishes of different sizes. You can, of course, buy a4-set dishwasher dishes, but what's the point? You can't wash a baking sheet in it, nor a large pot, and if you have a lot of dishes, you'll have to wash them in 2-3 batches. This is unacceptable in terms of the time, water, and detergent consumption.
- A larger washing machine is more resource-efficient. The average water consumption for a 4-set washing machine is 11 liters, although some models use 13 and even 15 liters. Among the full-size machines, there are some that use only 8.5 – 9 liters. Not only does she wash three times more dishes, but she also uses less water.
- Full-size dishwashers are the best at cleaning dishes. Although slimline models are hot on their heels, they still fall short of the standard models. Compact and miniature dishwashers aren't even worth mentioning; they don't clean as well.
- All advanced dishwasher technologies are first implemented in full-size models, and only then in all the others.
VarioSpeed, floor beam and other technologies were first introduced in standard dishwashers.
The obvious conclusion is this: large dishwashers, while rarely more expensive than narrow models, are much more functional and economical. If the buyer's kitchen size allows, they will invariably choose a standard dishwasher.
Bosch Serie 6 SMS 40L08
One of the most popular freestanding full-size dishwashers. It's currently being pushed out by built-in competitors, but it still holds its own. It features a display and excellent, intuitive electronic controls, plus it washes dishes beautifully. In the mid-price range, it's unrivaled in this regard. To wash full baskets of dishes, it requires 12 liters of water—1 liter per place setting. By comparison, smaller dishwashers use over 3 liters of water per place setting.
Users praise the perfect child-proofing, the limited-load basket mode, and the well-chosen wash cycles. For those who wash dishes at night, there's a useful delay mode that allows you to delay the start of the program for an extended period, up to 24 hours if needed. The Bosch Series 6 SMS 40L08 is completely leak-proof, protecting not only the machine itself but also its hoses. A special sensor helps keep the water perfectly clean, and a special anti-fingerprint coating ensures the exterior remains clean. You can paw at it as much as you like, but it won't leave any marks.

If the machine suddenly runs out of rinse aid, or perhaps even salt, special lights will flash, prompting the user to refill. Are you accustomed to using convenient 3-in-1 tablets? Well, this model recognizes them perfectly and dissolves them completely. The baskets are very convenient because their interior space is transformable and their height can be adjusted. If you wash a lot of large dishes, you can even roll out some of the baskets and put them aside for a while.
Kuppersberg GLA 689
This machine has the same basket capacity as the Bosch Series 6 SMS 40L08, but you wouldn't say they're exactly alike. The Kuppersberg GLA 689 also has a display, but it's located on the edge of the door rather than on the front. It's quieter than the Bosch, but it also uses 13 liters more water per liter. It has eight wash programs and seven temperature settings, allowing you to fine-tune your washing routine before starting.

There's complete leak protection, although some experts have complained about the sensitivity of the leak sensor located in the drip tray. The machine accepts all tablets and capsules, and dissolves them 100% on any of the numerous programs. The Kuppersberg GLA 689 has a spoon/fork tray and a glass holder, a stainless steel interior, and height-adjustable baskets.
The intensive dishwashing program of the Kuppersberg GLA 689 machine copes with the most serious stains.
Indesit DIF 14
The budget-friendly, yet far from bad, Indesit DIF 14 dishwasher has earned the trust of a significant number of customers for good reason. Its wash chamber holds 12 dishes, like the models described above, but it's considerably less expensive. The current price is around $315. It cleans dishes well, although it only has three automatic programs and no display. In our opinion, a display would only be a detriment to this machine, as it's incredibly easy to operate.

This model isn't for those who prefer quiet operation, as it can produce up to 53 dB of noise during operation. The machine isn't very well protected against water leaks. A special sensor is only located in the machine body, although it works well. Tests showed that out of 10 times the sensor was triggered, only 1 was in vain. The machine's baskets are height-adjustable, and the plate holders fold away.
Hansa ZIM 615 H
Among the dishwashers featured in our review, this one is a true star. At an absolutely astounding $265, it boasts impressive dishwashing performance. It matched, and in some cases, outperformed, premium dishwashers, cleaning a baking sheet and roaster that were horribly soiled with grease.
The Hansa ZIM 615 H dishwasher is quite simple. It lacks a display, but it does have a system of indicators that alert the user to the current status of the dishwasher. It doesn't have a partial load setting, but it's quiet and uses only 8.5 litres of water. Our craftsmen were very impressed. Such low resource costs and such high results are rare.

The control module only stores five automatic programs, but that's sufficient for everyday use. The machine is completely leak-proof and can beep when the dishes are finished drying. The Hansa ZIM 615 H has minimal sensors and doesn't even recognize 3-in-1 tablets. This is a drawback, but a minor one, especially for the price.
Neff S513G40X0R
Finally, we've reached the most expensive dishwasher in our review today: the Neff S513G40X0R. It costs nearly $740. So what do buyers get for this not-so-modest price?
- High quality assembly from the best parts.
- The most modern electronic control and display.
- A powerful instantaneous water heater that allows you to quickly heat water to a specific temperature.
- Average noise level during operation.
- Low water consumption – about 12 liters.
- 4 washing programs and partial load mode.
- The best protection against water leaks.
- Possibility to delay the start of the washing program for up to 24 hours.
- An indicator that projects a beam onto the floor.
- Special box for tablets 3 in 1, 5 in 1, 7 in 1.
- Melody at the end of washing.
- Economical and durable EcoSilence Drive motor.
- A sensor that detects the amount of dishes in the baskets.
- An attachment for washing baking trays and a special holder for glasses.

We haven't even considered the adjustable baskets, special sprayers, and various useful indicators. The machine is well worth the money and will serve its purpose without any problems, and it can last a long time—10-15 years without a problem!
So, we've reviewed several interesting dishwashers. We're not encouraging you to buy them, and we're certainly not advertising them. Our goal is to broaden your horizons regarding standard household dishwashers, and we hope we've succeeded. Good luck!
