Review of 6-Place Dishwashers
Compact dishwashers are those with a 6-placeholder capacity. This means that the baskets of these small dishwashers can only hold six place settings. These miniature appliances are so popular with consumers that almost every manufacturer offers their own line of compact models. Customers are overwhelmed. They can't decide which appliance is best for them, so we decided to try and help them figure it out. We hope we succeed.
Features of small models
First, I'd like to understand why renowned companies like Bosch, Electrolux, and others have embarked on yet another technological race to create the best small dishwashers that hold 6 place settings. What's so special about these appliances, and why is there such consistent demand for them?
- Small dishwashers hold enough dishes, so many customers don't feel the need to buy a full-size model. So, how much is 6 place settings anyway? It's not that small. 1 set is three different plates, one saucer, a cup or mug, a spoon, a fork and a knife. So, just imagine how much of a pile of dishes you can wash in one go. Just right for a small family.
- A small model doesn't require a dedicated floor space in the kitchen. This saves a lot of space. It can be placed on a table, a cabinet, or even a dedicated shelf. Wall brackets are even available for small dishwashers, as they'll definitely be out of the way when mounted on a wall.
- Small cars are easy to move from place to place. They're lightweight and small enough to be carried by a single person. So when moving to their summer cottage, people take their favorite "home helper" with them.
- A small dishwasher uses fewer resources, so it can be used in a strict energy-saving mode.
Small washing machines are usually very easy to operate. They typically don't have a plethora of programs and modes, and their control panels are very simple.
We're certainly not advocating for small dishwashers. Like any appliance, they have their drawbacks. However, if you've decided to buy one, consider the models we've reviewed. Our experts, as well as users, believe they're the best in their market segments today.
Siemens iQ500 SK 76M544
The very stylish and reliable Siemens iQ500 SK 76M544 with 6-person dish baskets is staggering for some. Currently, sellers are asking an average of $845 for it. That's a lot for a small machine. But it features impeccable electronics, a display, child-safety features, and even a sensor that monitors water purity.

It uses no more than 8 liters of water, is virtually silent, and cleans even heavily soiled dishes perfectly. The control module stores 6 wash programs, including a delicate program ideal for delicate dishes. The Siemens iQ500 SK 76M544 is completely leak-proof. It perfectly recognizes tablets and capsules, and has everything you need, including VarioSpeedPlus technology. The machine's dimensions (W x D x H) are 600 x 500 x 454 mm.
Bosch Series 4 SKS62E88
This easily integrated compact dishwasher is much cheaper than the Siemens iQ500 SK 76M544. It's the Bosch Series 4 SKS62E88, and it costs just $456. As you can see, the difference is significant. It also has a display, but lacks child safety lock, and it's much noisier. Otherwise, it's almost on par with the Siemens iQ500 SK 76M544. It also features a set of special sensors, a 24-hour delay, and helpful indicator lights.

The Bosch Serie 4 SKS62E88 features VarioSpeed technology and is partially leak-proof. The machine perfectly dissolves any tablets and capsules: 3 in 1, 5 in 1, 7 in 1, etc., there are no restrictions. The machine's dimensions (W x D x H) are 551 x 500 x 450 mm. Its capacity is the same as many small dishwashers—6 place settings.
Flavia CI 55 HAVANA
Over the past year, sales of the Flavia CI 55 HAVANA have increased by almost a third. It's a truly excellent machine, and most importantly, it's affordable. Its current price of $283 means it's almost three times cheaper than the Siemens iQ500 SK 76M544. The Flavia is also compact, holding six place settings. It features modern electronic controls, a decent display, and a flow-through water heater. While it's quite noisy, it consumes no more than 7 liters of water. It offers seven wash programs and five temperature settings.

This budget model lacks a water purity sensor. However, it does have the option to delay the start of the wash cycle for up to 24 hours. The housing is partially sealed against water leaks. At the end of the cycle, the machine emits a loud beep, which many users appreciate. The machine also has a preset "hour program." What is an "hour program"? It's a mode that completes the wash cycle in one hour. While this mode doesn't provide the highest quality wash results, it's best used when the dishes are not too dirty. The housing measures 550 x 500 x 438 mm (W x D x H).
The first models of small Flavia dishwashers were met with numerous complaints from users. Over time, the manufacturer corrected the issues, and customers now rate the quality of these appliances highly.
Midea MCFD-0606
This is a strictly budget model, stripped down to its bare essentials. However, it does a just as good a job of washing dishes as its premium counterpart. The Midea MCFD-0606 lacks a display or modern child safety feature. However, it does have modern electronic controls, which are quite simple and intuitive. This small machine isn't the loudest, but those who prefer quieter operation may not appreciate it. The standard program runs for 120 minutes, which is quite good, and it uses little water—7 liters per cycle.

There are six standard washing programs. In this regard, the dishwasher is reminiscent of Bosch or Candy appliances. You can only delay the start of a washing program for up to 8 hours. The leak protection is also unimpressive, as it's only partial. The machine beeps when it's finished. It's nice that it recognizes tablets and capsules; not all budget-friendly dishwashers have this feature, and it's nice that it doesn't cost extra. The dimensions of the case are 550 x 500 x 438 mm. Price: $224.
Candy CDCP 6/E
Rounding out our review is the cheapest small dishwasher currently available on the Russian market. Its approximate price is $192. Overall, Candy sets a standard that's almost unattainable for its competitors. It's worth noting that, despite its low price, the machine does a decent job of washing dishes, but as some users have noted, sometimes slightly damp plates have to be removed from the baskets. If you're interested in what users say about small dishwashers, read the article Compact dishwasher reviews, which was previously published on our website.
Returning to the Candy CDCP 6/E dishwasher's specifications, I'd like to highlight its impressive array of programs and temperature settings. The user can adjust the parameters of standard programs, which is often very valuable. It's worth noting that the Candy CDCP 6/E:
- has complete protection against all kinds of water leaks;
- has a special timer that allows you to delay the start of the program for up to 8 hours;
- has a box for tablets and capsules;
- It has a set of indicators, as well as an original glass holder.

A good set for the price, objectively good. The machine is small in size (W x D x H – 550 x 500 x 438 mm). Customer service has improved, but there are still complaints, so be careful.
In conclusion, I'd like to point out that some users are trying to write off small 6-placeholder dishwashers in favor of full-size models. We believe there's no need to argue with them, as these smaller models will definitely find their buyers with small kitchens and families. Good luck!
