Review of Miele 45 and 60 cm built-in dishwashers

PMM Mile ReviewAmong German Miele dishwashers, budget models are rare; everything is premium. However, in Russia, they are popular, and judging by reviews, quite a lot of users prefer them. Today, we'll discuss Miele built-in dishwashers with different cabinet widths. We'll provide a detailed overview of these appliances and share the opinions of experienced users.

Dimensions and specifications of this equipment

Over its more than a century-long history, Miele has evolved from a small butter churn manufacturer into a major concern producing a vast array of household appliances, including dishwashers. The most popular dishwashers are those with a 60- and 45-cm width. The 60-cm models come in 81- and 85-cm heights. The latter option offers increased capacity. Narrow models have a width of 44.8 to 45 centimeters and a height of 80.5 to 82 cm.

Since all these models are built-in, it's a good idea to calculate the width and height of the dishwasher before you buy it, so you don't end up with the wrong niche size when ordering furniture. This happens all the time, so pay special attention to this detail. Now let's find out why customers prefer Miele dishwashers. What's so popular about them? It's certainly not the price.

  1. These machines have a special 3D tray. What's remarkable about it is that it can be expanded, deepened, or heightened in a mystical way. This can be very convenient if you need to wash something unusual alongside your standard cutlery: a spatula, a ladle, a saucepan, etc.
  2. Miele dishwashers feature a clear basket design. These baskets are easy to load and, unlike any other, are customizable, allowing you to stack even the most unusual dishes.
  3. These machines feature a QuickPowerWash program, which cleans a mountain of dishes in less than an hour using special proprietary tablets. Repurchasing these tablets is expensive, but the cleaning results will be excellent.
  4. Some of the most modern Miele washing machines are equipped with the Knock2open system. What is it? Models with this system have no door handle. At first glance, you might not even know how to open the machine, as there's nothing to grab onto. Just knock twice on the door, and it will open automatically.

After double knocking on the door, the mechanism opens the door by 10 cm.

  1. Loading and unloading dishes can be done even in the absence of kitchen lighting, since Miele machines have powerful lighting in the wash chamber.
  2. The Miele dishwasher automatically opens the door slightly at the end of the wash cycle to dry the washing chamber. With other machines, this task was left to the user, and if they forgot to open the door, the dishwasher would shut down and start to smell.

Miele washing machines also feature an advanced self-diagnostic system, high energy efficiency, and low water consumption. It's especially worth noting that the manufacturer includes an impressive selection of accessories with many models, which will be very useful for those who plan to use their Miele "home assistant" every day.

Miele G 6060 SCVi Jubilee

This dishwasher rightfully belongs in the premium class, as its specifications and component quality are impressive. Therefore, you'll have to shell out around $1,754 for it—a hefty sum, you'll agree. You'll be paying not only for the German brand name, but also for:

  • capacity: 14 standard place settings;
  • very low noise level, only 44 dB;
  • energy efficiency class A+++, which means 0.84 kW/h with a standard wash program;
  • 6 programs and the same number of temperature modes;

One of the useful programs in this model is “Delicate”, which allows you to wash fragile and thin glass.

  • water consumption is only 9.7 liters, which is very little for full-size equipment;
  • turbo dryer, which will ensure quick drying.

Miele G 6060 SCVi Jubilee

Overall, this dishwasher has a lot to boast about. In addition, it has a delayed start, an automatic opening function, indicators, and a water purity sensor.The machine is fully integrated into the cabinetry. One minor drawback is the lack of a half-load feature. Given the resource consumption, this feature is not necessary.

Miele G 6891 SCVi K2O

This dishwasher is the most expensive of those we reviewed. This might be a bit of a bummer at first glance, as it costs approximately $3,684. This dishwasher is simply loaded with features, and engineers have incorporated all the latest developments into it. This model features:

  • A dozen programs and 7 temperature settings. Standard washing modes are supplemented by automatic programs;
  • turbo drying;
  • capacity for 14 sets;
  • launch delay;
  • stainless steel baskets, adjustable in height;
  • half load.

That's not all; when opened, the chamber is illuminated by a built-in light. This model features a special sensor that allows the door to be opened by a knock (Knock2Open). After drying, the machine automatically opens the door—it's convenient when the dishwasher does everything for you. Other notable features, such as a floor beam, an audible signal, detergent indicators, and complete leak protection, are all included. Even the noise level during washing does not exceed 41 dB. However, there is one small drawback: the manufacturer has not installed a child safety device, which is unforgivable for premium equipment.

Miele G 4985 SCVi XXL

This Mile dishwasher, like the two previous ones, is designed for 14 place settings and is fully integrated. Despite only having five programs and three temperature settings, it handles even the dirtiest dishes just as well as others, using only 9.9 liters of water and 0.94 kWh. You can use detergent, but tablets are not suitable because there is no detergent tray. If you have a small load, you can run a half load instead of waiting for the dishes to accumulate and dry.

The dishwasher is only leak-proof. An audible signal sounds at the end of the cycle. Overall, the machine is equipped with only basic programs and features. It costs no more than $1,561. It's not cheap, but the German quality and build quality warrant it.

Miele G 4880 SCVi

This dishwasher is a narrow, fully integrated model, meaning it has a capacity of 9 place settings. Its range of features and programs is quite impressive, which explains its price of $2,280. So, what's so special about it?

  • 9 different programs for a wide range of dishes, including an automatic program.

That machine even has a "Quiet" program, which is rare. And the machine is already quiet.

  • Pill tray.
  • Complete protection against water leakage.
  • Height-adjustable stainless steel baskets, glass holder.
  • Timer to delay start up to 24 hours.
  • Rinse aid and salt indicators.
  • Sound signal to notify the end of the program.

Miele G 4880 SCVi

Overall, the machine is equipped to meet modern standards. The lack of a child safety lock shouldn't be a significant drawback if you trust Miele's quality.

Miele G 4780 SCVi

This Mile dishwasher differs from its predecessor only in its reduced number of programs (only six) and the lack of a drying function with an automatic door opening. In all other respects, the machine is identical. It uses only 8.7 liters of water and 0.56 kWh of energy. The maximum noise level recorded on the standard program is 46 dB.

Despite its 9-place setting capacity, there's also a half-load function. You can fill just one basket with dishes and use half as much detergent. You also don't have to worry about leaks, as the machine is equipped with the necessary protection—the manufacturers have taken great care to ensure this.

Miele G 603 SCVi Plus

Although this model is considered quite old, it has already become a favorite among thousands of users worldwide. It is still a popular choice in the CIS countries. This slim-line member of the Miele dishwasher family features a wash chamber that holds 8 standard place settings. It features convenient electronic controls and a modern display that facilitates interaction between the machine and the user.

Resource consumption isn't critical, although the machine is inferior to its competitors in this area. It consumes 11 liters of water per complete wash cycle and 0.74 kWh of electricity. It is worth noting that this model does not meet the noise level of modern premium class machines. It produces a maximum of 51 dB, which is quite loud. There are plenty of wash programs (six), all very carefully selected, suitable for any occasion.

Miele G 603 SCVi Plus

The feature set is rather limited, but this is compensated for by the high quality of operation and excellent German assembly. It includes: full water leak protection, indicators for the salt reservoir and rinse aid compartment, a water hardness sensor, and basically everything else. There's even no partial load feature, although this doesn't affect the machine.

What do the owners think?

It's great that many Miele dishwasher users are active online. They're happy to leave their reviews, and we have the opportunity to read them.

I've been using the Miele G 6060 SCVi Jubilee dishwasher for over a year. It's great, holds a lot of dishes, and never breaks down. The door opens automatically at the end of the wash cycle. It's very quiet, despite the turbo dry feature. Incidentally, I'm very happy with the turbo dry feature. It dries dishes much faster, and the cycle finishes quickly. I highly recommend it!

My husband gave me a Miele G 6891 SCVi K2O two years ago. It's a fancy, expensive machine. It has some kind of sensor that reacts to knocks. I only have to knock on the door a couple of times, and it opens right away. Occasionally, the sensor doesn't work, and I have to knock again and again until it opens. It washes dishes perfectly, and it has a built-in turbo dryer. It works quickly and without any issues, and it never breaks down. It's a good machine, even if it's expensive! I have something to compare it to. I used one before. Bosch SMV44KX00R dishwasherSo, if I were to rate it on a scale of one to ten, I would give my new Mila a “9,” and my old Bosch, which only worked for a year, a “1.”

Yuri, Novosibirsk

About six months ago, I started looking for a good dishwasher with a ton of features and reliability. I settled on the Miele G 4985 SCVi XXL. It's 60 cm wide, or 59.8 cm according to the specifications, and has a 14-place setting capacity. I was happy with everything about it, so I bought it. Overall, it's a great machine. It washes dishes like magic, but it doesn't recognize 3-in-1 tablets, so I had to buy powder. There are more feature-rich models in the Miele line, but they're also more expensive. Personally, I'm completely satisfied with the Miele G 4985 SCVi XXL.

Lyudmila, Moscow

A friend suggested I buy a Miele G 4780 SCVi dishwasher (she has the exact same one). It's pricey, but it's worth it. The dishes in my house are always perfectly clean now; I would never have washed them like that by hand. It's quiet, uses little water, and cleans relatively quickly. I initially thought it would be a bit noisy, but it turned out to be completely inaudible. I give it a solid 5-star rating and invite everyone to join our Miele dishwasher enthusiasts club!

In conclusion, Miele's line of dishwashers, available in various widths, is very extensive. It's impossible to cover all the models in a single article, but that wasn't our goal. We wanted to cover the best models in this line, and we think we succeeded. Good luck!
