Drum cleaning function in a Beko washing machine

Cleaning the drum in a Beko washing machineWhen you buy a new washing machine, be sure to familiarize yourself with its software. Modern machines, in addition to the basic algorithms, have many useful additional features. For example, the self-cleaning drum option is often a lifesaver.

What is the purpose of the drum cleaning option in a Beko washing machine? How does this program work and how long does it take? How do I activate it? Let's take a closer look.

How does this algorithm work?

Any washing machine accumulates debris. This could include detergent particles, lint, threads, or sand. To combat plaque in modern Beko has a drum cleaning function.

The self-cleaning mode is similar to the first time you use an automatic washing machine. The washing machine must be empty—without any laundry in the drum. It's best to use a special household cleaning product for washing machines.

This mode lasts just under three hours. On average, it's 165 minutes, but the time may vary slightly depending on the Beko model. Self-cleaning stages:There is water in the drum of the washing machine.

  • the machine performs a pre-wash;
  • the machine starts the main cleaning, the water in the tank heats up to 90°C, the drum rotates at a speed of up to 150 rpm;
  • The washing machine starts a double rinse, washing away any deposits from the surface of the drum.

It is recommended to run the self-cleaning mode on your Beko washing machine once every two to three weeks.

This frequency will be sufficient to prevent contamination of the washing machine. After such treatment, you should also clean the washing machine's drain filter. It accumulates debris, lint, threads, and foreign objects, accidentally caught in the drum.

How to activate this feature?

The self-cleaning function is very simple to activate. To activate the mode, you need to use the programmer. So, to turn on the machine for self-cleaning, you need to:

  • make sure that there are no items in the washing machine drum (if there are, remove them);
  • Close the washing machine hatch door tightly;
  • plug the washing machine into the power supply;
  • open the water supply tap (if you close the valve after each use of the washing machine);
  • press the network button on the dashboard;select drum cleaning
  • Use the program selector to select the “Drum self-cleaning” option;
  • Click "Start".

Now all you have to do is wait for the machine to complete the cycle. Afterward, open the door to dry the drum. It's also a good idea to clean the machine's debris filter at the end of the cycle.

Not all Beko machines have a self-cleaning function. However, this doesn't mean you can't clean the inside of the washing machine. You can use a similar algorithm found on all machines.

How do I clean my washing machine if it doesn't have a "Drum Self-Cleaning" mode?

It's clear how a washing machine works in self-cleaning mode. The cycle includes a pre-wash, main wash, and double rinse. The water temperature should be set to the maximum—90 degrees Celsius. Imitating this program is easy; every Beko machine has a similar algorithm—"Cotton."

The “Drum Self-Cleaning” function can be easily replaced with the standard “Cotton 90°C” algorithm.

What to do if there is no self-cleaning function:

  • turn on the machine;
  • use the programmer to select the “Cotton” mode;
  • By default, the washing machine will set the temperature to 60°C, but it needs to be increased to 90°C;select the Cotton 90 program
  • turn off the spin option;
  • connect the “Soak” option to the main cycle;
  • start the wash.

The machine will run idle for almost the same 3 hours, flushing the system from the inside no worse than with self-cleaning. It is advisable to use a special detergent to combat scale and unpleasant odors. It is poured into a powder receiver or directly into the drum.

Do not run the self-cleaning mode more than twice in a row. This will put additional strain on the heating element, which could burn out. This recommendation applies to any high-temperature mode.
