Error D02 in a Brandt washing machine

Error D02 in a Brandt washing machineWhat should you do if you see error code D02 on your Brandt washing machine's display? You can call a technician to diagnose and fix the problem, and pay them a hefty fee for their services. Or, you can figure out the cause of the problem yourself and try to reset the error code. Let's look at what steps you should take to perform a DIY repair.

Where did the error come from?

What should you do first? First, take a look inside the washing machine. On front-loading models, you can simply look through the glass door; on top-loading models, you'll need to open the top lid and inspect the drum. Error D02 informs about problems with draining waste liquid from the tank.

With this fault code, water is either draining too slowly or is not being removed from the system at all.

What needs to be repaired? First, inspect the drain hose for kinks or blockages. If any damage to the drain hose is found, repair it. Next, check the integrity of the mesh filter (located at the front, underneath the washing machine) to see if it's clogged. Error D02 may indicate a faulty pump or damaged connections in the drain system.

We clean or replace the pump

A preliminary check of the drain pump in your Brandt washing machine can be performed without disassembling the appliance. To do this, remove the debris filter and, using a flashlight, peer into the resulting hole. Spin the impeller—if it rotates smoothly, the pump is working properly. If the impeller slows down, the pump may be broken or clogged.

To perform further DIY repairs, you'll need to gain access to the hoses and drain pump. You'll need a set of screwdrivers and pliers. The procedure is as follows:Brandt pump replacement

  • unplug the washing machine;
  • disconnect the machine from communications;
  • Move the Brandt washing machine away from the wall;
  • cover the floor with a blanket and place the machine on its side;
  • if there is a bottom, unscrew the retaining bolts and remove the pan;
  • inspect the drain pipe, feel it to find blockages or foreign objects in the cavity;
  • loosen the clamp holding the pipe and disconnect it from the pump;
  • Unscrew the screws holding the pump, carefully disconnect the wiring contacts and remove the pump from the housing;
  • Disconnect the drain pipe from the washing machine tank and rinse the pipe under running water.

To further diagnose the problem, remove the pump from the volute. This will require removing the bolts holding the components together. Inspect the impeller. A piece of cloth or hair wrapped around its wings could be the cause of the problem. To fix the problem, simply clean the part.

If the pump is broken, you will have to buy a new pump, as it cannot be repaired.

The part is purchased at specialized stores by the model name of your Brandt washing machine. The new pump is installed inside the machine. The wiring is then connected to the pump. One end of the hose is attached back to the drum, the other to the pump, and secured with a clamp. The next step is to attach the bottom panel. Cleaning the drain hose and repairing or completely replacing the pump will definitely resolve the D02 error. After repair, it's best to test the machine on a long wash cycle.

    Thank you very much, you helped a lot!
    It looks like the impeller wasn't spinning because of a small foreign object. I just don't understand how it got past the filter.
