Error D07 in a Brandt washing machine

Error D07 in a Brandt washing machineFor unknown reasons, the self-diagnostic system in Brandt washing machines leaves much to be desired. Specifically, error codes don't actually match the problems listed in the manual and actually indicate completely different issues. For example, error code D07 in a Brandt washing machine supposedly indicates a problem with the door or locking system, but experienced users have already noticed that the cause is something entirely different. So what should you do in this case?

Where can I find the correct transcript?

As mentioned above, searching for the error code in the user manual or instruction manual is practically useless. The information may be either accurate or completely false. But you don't want to call a mechanic every time you can't determine the cause of the problem using the code yourself. That's where online forums, where people share their observations, come to the rescue. If we are talking about error code D07, then first of all you need to check not the sunroof and everything connected to it, as stated in the instructions, but inspect the motor brushes.

Why? The problem is that Brandt machines suffer from poor motor assembly and brush quality. They often fail after just 6-7 months. If the problem is truly with the brushes, buy new ones and replace them. If not, start troubleshooting the door.

Description of the progress of work

Remember that the motor is electrically powered, so before removing it, unplug the washing machine from the power source. Then, carefully disconnect the motor from the tank, removing all wiring connections.

Important! Remember what you're doing step by step, and even better, record it in any convenient way. This will help you reassemble the car correctly later, avoid mixing up parts, and ensure you don't miss anything.

Brand brush replacementBefore replacing the brushes, make sure they need it. Inspect the rods. The main problem is that the rods wear unevenly. The brush needs to be replaced when the handle length is 1.5-2 centimeters. If some parts are almost intact, leave them alone; replace only those that are truly damaged. Be prepared for the motor to need repairs more often than every six months.

Also, take a photo or draw how the brushes are inserted into the grooves, namely: the depth of the seat, the direction of the bevel, etc. This is important, as if the assembly is incorrect, the motor may spark after being connected to the power supply.

Since you are going to remove the motor to replace the brushes anyway, inspect the internal commutator as well. Sometimes dirt settles there, or small scratches appear. These defects need to be repaired. Take a rag or a dry brush and brush off the dust; scratches can be easily sanded out with a piece of sandpaper.

Now you can begin installing the new parts. The brushes are secured with screws. Double-check that everything is installed correctly. If everything is in order, proceed to reassembling your home assistant according to the previously recorded instructions. Don't forget to replace the wiring and attach the motor to the washing machine's drum. Now it's time to test your work using one of the following methods:

  • set the wash cycle to empty and turn on the spin cycle;
  • Run a few quick wash cycles.

Please note! For the first 10-12 washes, avoid loading heavy, bulky items into the drum. This allows the brushes time to become accustomed to their position, and then you can get the most out of your Brandt washing machine.

Don't forget to regularly inspect your engine, clean and lubricate it if necessary, and perform minor repairs yourself. After all, it's easier to prevent a breakdown than to fix it, and the D07 error will definitely not bother you again.

    Hello! Could you please advise me on how to access the brushes? I was able to unscrew one, but the screw on the other one is blocked by the motor mount. I tried to remove the motor, but I couldn't access all the mounting bolts either.
