Error E01 in a Hansa washing machine

Error E01 in the Hansa1 washing machineEvery appliance malfunctions sometimes, and the Hansa washing machine is no exception. What should you do if the self-diagnostic system displays an E01 error? Sometimes this is a purely electronic fault, and you simply need to reset the machine by unplugging it for 15 minutes and then plugging it back in. But if something serious has happened to the machine, this won't help. So let's take a look.

What is this error?

Error E01 is responsible for the hatch's tight closure. So, if you see this error code on the display, it means there's something wrong with the hatch door lock system. And it's not necessarily about the locking device itself. Even if the machine is perfectly closed, the control system may simply not know it. Why does this happen?

All the washing machine's components are connected to the control board, which transmits the signals. Therefore, sometimes the problem may not lie with the door lock itself, but with a damaged power cord.

  1. It is also possible that the hatch locking device itself is damaged.
  2. The triac responsible for controlling the door lock has failed.

To fix the problem, you need to determine what caused it. The above issues can be caused by either intensive use of the vehicle, which can fray the wires, or by a manufacturing defect, which can cause poorly soldered wires to break and cause loss of contact.

Either way, the problem lies either in the door lock or in its connection to the control board. If you're confident you can repair it yourself, or simply want to confirm the issue, proceed with the inspection.

We examine the hatch locking device

To check the functionality of this component, you need to use a multimeter. However, doing this without removing the part from the car will be very difficult. Otherwise, the result will either be inaccurate or you won't be able to measure anything at all. Therefore, first, remove the door lock and inspect it.Checking the UBL using a tester

Each locking device (LUB) is equipped with three types of contacts: live, neutral, and common. To accurately test the module with a multimeter, you need to know exactly where each contact is located. The difficulty is that each manufacturer arranges the contacts completely arbitrarily. Therefore, you need to look up the locking device diagram for your specific washing machine online.

  1. On the multimeter, activate the resistance test mode.
  2. The probes must be installed on the phase and neutral contacts (everything is fine if the device shows a three-digit number).
  3. Then to neutral and general.
  4. If you see the numbers 1/0 appear on the device’s display, it means the UBL is faulty and needs to be repaired.

However, sometimes the multimeter fails to detect any faults, meaning the display shows three-digit numbers. Typically, the problem lies in the mechanical part of the door lock itself. Ultimately, you may be dealing with a manufacturing defect, so contact a specialist, as the cause of a Hansa washing machine malfunction is not always easy to determine on your own. A qualified technician will definitely identify and fix the problem.
