Kaiser washing machine displays error E01
An automatic washing machine can display the E01 error code at any stage of the wash cycle. The cycle may not start at all or pause midway through or near the end. Washing machines equipped with a digital display will display the corresponding code on the control panel, while models without a display will alert you to the error by flashing LEDs. Let's figure out what the E01 code displayed by a Kaiser automatic washing machine means and how to reset the error.
What happened to the car?
If your automatic washing machine displays the E01 error code, the cycle is immediately interrupted. To understand how to repair your "home helper," you need to understand the problem.
Error E01 indicates that the hatch door is not closed tightly.
This code doesn't always mean the door is open and the system is leaking. Sometimes, the mechanical part of the lock is fine, but the problem lies in the electrical system. There are several possible causes for the E01 error:
- damage to the UBL;
- skewed hinges on which the door is suspended;

- lock failure;
- failure of the triac on the control board that controls the door lock.
What should you do if your washing machine displays an error code? First, make sure the door lock is working properly. Before starting a wash cycle (even before the E01 error appears), press firmly on the door with your knee. If the blocker has been triggered, then the cause of the malfunction is either in the lock mechanics, or in the hinges, or in the control module.
A Kaiser washing machine often displays the E01 error code due to misaligned door hinges. Inspect them—even if no defects are visible, use an open-end wrench to tighten the bolts securing the hinges. If this doesn't help, loosen the screws and remove the door. Then try to rehang it straight on the hinges. In certain situations, removing the door and reinstalling it can resolve the issue.
The mechanism inside the door
If adjusting the hinges doesn't help, you need to inspect the locking mechanism itself. The problem may be that the "tongue" that enters the opening has become nicked. This can be easily corrected—simply file down the defects on the lever.
Check if the latch can be removed from the Kaiser washing machine. If not, you'll have to work on the entire door. After sharpening it with a file, the lever should be treated with graphite lubricant. Be sure to blot the lubricant off the latch with a napkin, otherwise, the lubricant will transfer to the laundry during the next wash cycle and stain the fabric. Sometimes the E01 error is caused by a damaged spring or hook in the locking mechanism. In this case, the components will need to be replaced.
Testing the electric lock
When a Kaiser automatic locking machine displays the E01 code, but the lock mechanics are fine, it's time to run a diagnostic on the door lock system. You can test the component with a multimeter. To access the door lock system, you need to:
- de-energize the Kaiser washing machine;
- open the hatch;
- unscrew the two screws securing the mechanism;

- bend the sealing cuff to the side, in the area where the blocker is located;
- put your hand inside and take out the UBL;
- remove the wiring from the blocker.
The multimeter should be set to ohmmeter mode. Connect one tester probe to the neutral terminal and the other to the live terminal. If the display shows a three-digit number, the UBL is normal. The diagnostics don't end there. Touch the tester probes to the neutral and common terminals. A one or zero on the multimeter screen will indicate a malfunction of the hatch locking device.
To perform the repair yourself, you'll need to purchase a new door locking unit (LCU) suitable for your specific Kaiser washing machine and install it in its place. After this, the E01 error will be cleared, and your "home assistant" will resume normal operation. If the inspection reveals no faults, you'll need to inspect the control board. Repair of the electronic module is best left to professionals.
