Error E05 in a Hansa washing machine

Error E05 in a Hansa washing machineHansa washing machines are equipped with self-diagnostic systems, so in most cases, if a malfunction occurs, the owner will be alerted to the error code on the display. However, simply seeing the error code isn't enough; it also needs to be correctly deciphered to diagnose the problem and then fix it. For example, error E05 in a Hansa washing machine can be caused by anything from minor issues to serious malfunctions within the machine. What should you do in this case?

Where did this error come from?

Typically, all problems associated with this combination are related to the water level in the tank. The alarm is triggered when the water level doesn't reach the required level within 10 minutes. However, this is only a consequence; the main causes of this behavior are as follows:

  • no water in the pipes, or too low pressure;
  • formation of blockages in water supply hoses;
  • failure of the feed valve;
  • the pressure switch responsible for monitoring the tank filling level has failed;
  • the electronic controller is faulty, or its communication contacts with other important elements of the washing machine’s water supply system are faulty;
  • the valve is stuck in the off position (relevant for models with the Aqua Spray system).Hans pressure switch

First, of course, check for water in the water pipes. If there is water and the pressure is good, check to see if the filter screen (located at the entrance to the inlet valve) is clogged with debris. To do this, turn off the water supply, then unscrew the inlet hose and carefully remove the filter screen. If there is a blockage, remove all debris and replace everything. After this, in half of the cases, the error code disappears when you restart the machine.

Inlet valve

If the above doesn't work, return to the inlet valve itself. To do this, remove the top cover of the washing machine and look inside. You'll easily recognize it by the hoses connected to it, leading to the detergent compartment. A visual inspection is sufficient to begin with; you might immediately recognize the valve's broken appearance. If everything is in order, we'll proceed to a more detailed analysis:

  • Take a pair of pliers and loosen the metal clamps at the base of the valve hoses;
  • After removing the clamps, disconnect the wiring;
  • Take a screwdriver and unscrew the screws that secure the valve to the washing machine.

In addition to the filter mesh, clogs can also form in the valve hoses, so inspect them carefully for clogs. The valve may also be leaking. This is easy to check. Attach the intake hose over a sink or empty container and turn on the water. If a leak is detected, it needs to be replaced. A properly functioning valve should not leak.

There's another testing option that requires extreme caution. If there's a risk you won't be able to handle it, don't bother, otherwise you could end up with problems worse than the E05 error. Apply 220 volts to the device's coils. This will cause the section to open and fill your chosen container with water.The problem is that contact between water and electricity can cause a short circuit and fire, which is made doubly worse by your proximity to hazardous objects. Overall, the method is effective, but it's quite difficult to implement without outside help.Let's check the intake valve on Hans's car.

It's better to save yourself the trouble and use a good old multimeter. Apply the tester's probes to the valve windings one by one in resistance measurement mode. Only a 3 or 4 on the display indicates the part is working properly. Otherwise, repair is required.

Important! If any part needs replacing, take it with you to the store or write down the model name exactly, letter by letter. Replace the replacement part and reassemble the unit.

As you may recall, you first need to install the valve, connect the wiring and hoses, and bolt it to the CM body. By the way, it's a good idea to take photos of all the steps before disassembling to avoid any confusion later.

Now all that's left to do is replace the top panel and connect the water intake hose. Now you can test the machine and start the wash cycle.

The car won't start after repair.

Some people immediately panic when they realize that after all their attempts to fix the problem, the display still shows the ill-fated code. But don't worry, the error doesn't mean you did anything wrong. You just need to reset it.

Turn the selector knob to any mode and hold down the start button. As soon as the square with zeros appears, release the button and wait for the display to display information about the selected program. Then turn the selector knob to the off position and wait until everything goes dark. Now you can turn the unit back on.
