Error E07 in a Hansa washing machine
When the E07 error code on your Hansa washing machine prevents it from finishing its cycle, don't worry too much. Typically, the code can be deciphered and the problem resolved quickly and without the need for professional repairs. Where can you find the source of the problem and how can you repair the machine?
Meaning of the code
Hansa washing machines display the E07 error code when the leak protection system, called "Aquastop," detects a danger. However, this doesn't mean that wastewater has leaked into the tray and the machine is at risk of short-circuiting. More often than not, the problem is not with the actual leakage of the machine, but with the sensor shifting after an intensive spin cycle.
Error E07 indicates that the Aquastop leak protection system has been activated.
But in isolated cases, a leak does exist. When water enters the tray, the float sensor begins to rise, triggering the Aquastop alarm and displaying the E07 code on the machine's display. To correct the situation and resume using the washing machine, drain the water and return the appliance to its original position. To do this, you'll need to check the bottom of the machine and inspect the meter.
Checking the pallet
You can handle the diagnostics yourself; the main thing is to prepare thoroughly. First, ensure easy access to the washing machine. Hansa appliances are most often built-in and installed under a countertop, sink, cabinet, or kitchen unit. Therefore, disconnect the machine from the power supply, move it out of the drawer to the center of the room, and cover the area around the machine with old rags. If there's a leak, water will pour out of the bottom, so be prepared.
Accessing the drip tray and checking for dryness is easy. Simply unscrew the side panels or remove the lower front panel of the machine, then look underneath. If water is detected inside, you'll have to completely disassemble the machine and look for the cause of the leak. If there are no signs of leakage, the float has shifted, causing the closed contact to generate a false signal. You can replace the sensor as follows:
- take a screwdriver with a long tip;
- insert it into the gap between the machine body and the tray;
- lower the float back into place;
- return the previously removed front panel or screw on the side walls.
But such a repair won't solve the problem permanently. Another intensive spin cycle will easily dislodge the float, causing the system to return to error E07. Some recommend getting rid of the problem by breaking off the sensor, but this maneuver will make Aquastop useless in the event of a real leak. We can't take such risks!
A damaged float will not be able to detect a real leak, and water from the machine will spill onto the floor.
What could have caused the machine to leak?
If water has accumulated in the tray, you'll need to stop the wash cycle for a while and troubleshoot the components. Several problems can cause a leak. Leaks can occur in a weakened drum wall, broken pipes and fittings, a loose pump or volute, or any leak in the sealing of the joints. The dispenser and all drain and fill hoses are also at risk. Every possible problem should be checked. Leaks can occur for several reasons:
- The household appliance was not used correctly. The basic rules, room conditions, installation details, and recommendations for caring for the machine are described in the instructions;
- poor quality or inappropriate detergents were used during washing;
- a manufacturing defect occurred during the production of the machine gun;
- A part of the washing machine broke.
If your washing machine is under warranty, it's best to call a specialist rather than attempt repairs yourself.
To identify the root cause, disconnect the machine from the power supply and run a sequential diagnostic. Using a machine with an E07 error is prohibited.

Another intensive spin will easily dislodge the float, causing the system to return to error E07. How can I restart the machine?
Unscrew the two screws, remove the panel, and if there's water in the pan, remove it and tap the sensor lightly. Replace the panel and you're done.
Thank you so much for the article! I got an error message. I opened the tray, and there was no water. I spent a long time trying to figure out the cause until I read the article about the sensor. I removed the sensor, reinserted it, and the problem was solved!
