Error E22 in Candy washing machine

Error E22 in Candy washing machineHas your Candy washing machine encountered the E22 error? Before investigating the cause of the error, it's important to consider whether the machine has been behaving strangely before. Perhaps the machine filled or drained water after the main wash cycle a couple of times in a row, or perhaps it worked fine for half an hour, but then suddenly froze, failing to fill or heat up. Let's explore what the E22 code means, how different models signal a malfunction, and what to do if an error is detected.

Code on cars without a screen

If the washing machine doesn't have a display, it signals an error by flashing its LED lights. They flash in a series, with 22 flashes followed by a 5-13 second pause, and then the machine signals the error again. The user simply counts the number of flashes before the pause; this is the error code indicating the specific error.

In some Candy washing machine models, various lights are flickering. For example, in the Grand line, the machine displays error E22 with the "Intensive Wash" mode LED and the first left light on the wash time display (in most cases, this is "90").

Smart line models are indicated by an "Intensive Wash" indicator and a top LED indicating the countdown timer. As with the Grand models, this is most often "90," but "Start" is also available. In the Holiday and Aquamatic models, the "Cold Water Wash" mode indicator flashes, indicated by a snowflake.

Important! For troubleshooting purposes, it doesn't matter which light is flashing. The key factor is the number of flashes, which the user should carefully count.

What does E22 mean?

E22 may indicate one of two faults: a pressure switch (water level sensor) error, when the system detects an overflow of liquid, or a problem in the heating circuit. Experienced craftsmen claim that the code E22 is not often found. Most of the reported cases involve Candy washing machines. Common malfunctions include:

  • The device doesn't heat the water, stops working, and displays an error message. The problem may be caused by a burnt-out heating element. To fix the problem, replace the part with a working one.E22 due to problems with the pressure switch
  • Pressure switch malfunctions. It incorrectly alerts the user to excess water. This problem can occur if the pressure switch hose is clogged, damaged, the sensor is broken, or the pressure chamber is heavily contaminated. Depending on the cause of the malfunction, the components must be replaced, the hose must be blown out, or the chamber must be cleaned.
  • Water keeps filling up, then draining, resulting in an E22 error. The problem is with the inlet valve; excess water is entering, causing the machine to overflow. In this case, replacing the faulty valve is sufficient.
  • Burnt-out radio components in the control unit. A technician must resolder the faulty components. If this is not possible, the control unit must be completely replaced.
  • Wiring problems, damaged contacts. The control unit is not receiving information from the appliance components, the wash cycle is interrupted, and the indicators start displaying an E22 error. This can occur if the machine vibrates heavily during the wash cycle. In a private home, mice and other rodents can chew through the wires. Specialists solder the contacts, repair the wiring, or replace it entirely.

The E22 error doesn't always indicate a malfunction that needs to be fixed by a technician. It's likely a control board failure, which requires rebooting the machine and disconnecting it from the power supply for 20 minutes. If after these steps, the machine operates normally, you've successfully reset the code, and calling a technician is not necessary.
