Bosch dishwasher error E25

Error E25 on Bosch dishwashersHaving your Bosch dishwasher stop working while it's running is unlikely to please you. Firstly, something could have broken, and secondly, you'll have to wash all the dishes by hand. And as they say, good things happen quickly. But with no other options, you'll have to figure out what's wrong. The error code E25 on the display can help, but to fix the problem, you need to know what it means.

What does this code mean?

The E25 error in this German-made machine informs the user that the pipe connecting to the drain pump is clogged. In some models, this may not be the pipe, but the base of the drain hose connected to the pump.

Another explanation for error E25 is: the drain pump is blocked or its cover is missing.

Clearly, the pump impeller is blocked by some foreign object or debris. This error can occur not only due to a clog, but also if the pump cover is missing.

Causes of occurrence

blockage in the carThis error is most often caused by debris and food debris clogging the dishwasher when the user neglects the simple operating instructions. The following items can become stuck in the dishwasher's drainage system:

  • bones from meat (fish) or bones from fruit;
  • fruit peels;
  • napkins;
  • toothpicks;
  • shards of glass that broke while washing dishes.

Even if you clean the plates of food residue before placing them in the dishwasher basket, it is not enough. A blockage can occur if the user does not clean the machine from grease for a long time. As a result, grease accumulates in the pipe, creating a blockage through which the pump cannot pump water. There's only one solution: cleaning.

We are troubleshooting the problem

So, if your dishwasher has stopped and a clogged error message appears, you first need to remove the water standing in the bottom of the machine. First, unplug the appliance and then follow these steps:

  1. Take out the baskets with dishes.
  2. Remove the lower rocker arm so that it is out of the way.
  3. Scoop out the dirty water into a separate container.
  4. Unscrew the filter cap.

  5. Remove the filter "cup".
  6. Inspect the inside and, if necessary, blot up any water with a thick cloth.
  7. Take a long pair of tweezers and remove the flap that covers the pump impeller.

  8. Inspect the impeller, remove any stuck debris with tweezers, and check the operation of the impeller.
  9. Put all the parts back in place and check the operation of the dishwasher.

If this doesn't help, you'll need to clean the drain pipe or hose. These parts can be accessed through the bottom of the dishwasher. Empty the dirty water from the dishwasher, move it to a clear location, and disconnect it from the water supply and sewer. Then, lay the dishwasher on its back and unscrew the bottom. Be careful not to pull on the tray, as there may be wires running to it that need to be carefully disconnected.

Once you remove the bottom, all the components will be immediately exposed. Disconnect the hose from the sump pump and clean it. If the pump is connected directly to a hose, disconnect the hose and thoroughly clean it using a special cable with a brush. Then, replace all the components and test the operation.

If cleaning the machine doesn't help, which is unlikely, then the E25 error in your Bosch dishwasher is caused by a faulty drain pump.

If your drain pump breaks, everything will depend on the nature of the problem. If the impeller is broken, replace that part of the pump. However, if the winding is burned out, replace the entire pump. Not confident in your abilities? Call qualified specialists.

We'll stop here. We hope you now know why your dishwasher might display the E25 error. By the way, if it's interspersed with other errors, you can find their explanations in the article. Bosch dishwasher errors.
