Gorenje washing machine error E7

Gorenje washing machine error E7If your Gorenje washing machine suddenly stops and displays "E7," it means there's a problem with the drainage system. The machine can't empty the drum and complete the wash cycle. Furthermore, the drum is full, making it impossible to open the door and remove laundry. It's difficult to pinpoint the exact problem right away; a thorough diagnosis of all key drainage components is necessary. Even the average user can reset the E7 error. The key is to remember safety precautions and follow the instructions.

What does the error mean?

The appearance of error E7 on the Gorenje display always indicates problems with the drainage system. In simple terms, the machine cannot pump water out of the tank: the drain is too slow, and the liquid level does not fall below the “ mark within the allotted time.min." The washing machine initially attempts to reset, but after the second unsuccessful attempt, it cancels the cycle, stops responding to user commands, and displays a warning code on the screen. There are several possible causes of drainage problems in a Gorenje washing machine:

  • the drain filter is clogged;
  • the pump is faulty, clogged or has lost connection with the control board;
  • the pressure switch is out of order;
  • The control board is broken.

Error E7 indicates problems with the drain, filter, pump, pressure switch, or electronic unit.

The symptoms of each of the listed malfunctions are virtually identical, so it's impossible to determine the cause without diagnostics. Each possible issue must be checked one by one, starting with the simplest one—the filter—and ending with the most complex—the control board. We'll discuss in detail what exactly to do and in what order.

Is the filter element clean?

Diagnosing a Gorenje washing machine's drainage system begins with the debris filter. This is a spiral-shaped attachment that collects debris that gets caught in the machine. Without prompt cleaning, the "spiral" becomes clogged, preventing water from draining from the tank into the drain. The instructions are simple: find the filter, unscrew it, and clean it. In more detail, the procedure is as follows:

  • de-energize the washing machine and disconnect it from the water supply;
  • find a rectangular or round technical hatch door in the lower right corner of the body;never cleaned the filter
  • pry the door with a flat-head screwdriver and detach it from the body;
  • place a container to collect water (a regular basin will do) under the opened filter;
  • grab the protrusion on the filter and start unscrewing it (slowly, clockwise);
  • remove the nozzle and collect the spilled water.

After removing the filter, we begin cleaning. First, scrape off any large debris, then treat the surface of the coil with soap and a toothbrush, and finally, rinse with water. To remove stubborn dirt, thick limescale, or caked-on soap scum, we recommend soaking the nozzle in a warm lemon solution for 1-3 hours.

Next, we move on to cleaning the filter seat. We wash the hole walls with a soapy sponge and remove any remaining debris. Be sure to shine a flashlight inside and inspect the remaining drainage components: the pipes, the volute, and the pump. Particular attention should be paid to the pump impeller, as it often becomes blocked by tangled hair or a stuck object. Anything unnecessary must be removed, otherwise it will not be possible to reset the error.

Let's check the pump

The E7 error code also appears when there's a problem with the pump. The pump itself rarely becomes clogged; more often, it fails due to normal wear and tear or a power outage. To diagnose the problem, the unit must be removed and inspected. The procedure is as follows:

  • disconnect Gorenje from communications;
  • drain the water from the drum and powder compartment if the machine stops with a full tank;
  • lower the equipment to the floor, carefully placing it on the back wall;
  • find the pump fixed on the snail;the pump is to blame for everything
  • disconnect the wiring from the pump;
  • establish contact between the device and a pre-prepared conductor with a plug for direct connection to the electrical network;
  • check the reliability of the connection to avoid current leakage;
  • Plug the plug into the socket and evaluate the device's behavior.you will need to check the pump with a multimeter

If the pump is plugged in, starts humming, and spins its impeller, then everything is fine. This will indicate that the E7 error was caused by a faulty pressure switch or control board. If the pump is silent or remains motionless, then the device will have to be replaced.

When searching for replacement parts, it is necessary to take into account the serial number of your Gorenje washing machine.

Another option for diagnosing the pump is to connect a multimeter to the pump in ohmmeter mode and measure the resistance. A properly functioning device will show a value between 150 and 260 ohms. If it displays "0," a current leak or short circuit is confirmed; if it displays "270" or more, a winding break has occurred. Repairing such faults is too time-consuming and expensive. It's more cost-effective and quicker to replace the device with a new one. The third option is called mechanical testing and is performed as follows:

  • dismantling the snail;
  • spinning the impeller manually (intermittent rotation with some difficulty is considered normal);
  • loosening of the blades across the axis (even the slightest play is an indication for replacement);
  • connection to the power grid (the pump should operate almost silently, without stops or failures).

A new pump is selected strictly based on the serial number of your existing Gorenje washing machine. Ideally, bring the old pump to the store and ask for an alternative. It's best to consider only original parts that match the original pump in terms of power and mounting type.

The pressure switch pipe is clogged

If the drain is clear and the pump is working properly, the problem may lie in the pressure switch. This is a level sensor that sends information about the tank's level to the circuit board. If the device does not work correctly, the module does not receive the necessary information and does not give the command to drain. The system stops and displays error E7. To check the pressure switch, do the following:

  • disconnect Gorenje from communications;
  • remove the top cover;
  • find the pressure switch on the right wall – a black or white plastic “box”;
  • loosen the screws holding the sensor;pressure switch under the top cover
  • remove the “box” together with the connected hose;
  • inspect the device for damage and blockages.

A visual inspection isn't enough. It's recommended to find a tube that's the same size as the sensor's nozzle, attach it to the pressure switch hose, and gently blow into the opening. A working device will "respond" with 2-3 clicks due to closed contacts, while a broken one will ignore the air flow. In the latter case, replacement is necessary.

If the drain, pump, and pressure switch are working properly, there's only one option left: a faulty control board. Diagnosing the module at home is strongly discouraged. It's best to play it safe and entrust the electronics inspection and repair to professionals.
